  1. A interesting read about a fairly talented artist: http://www.t-ono.net/interview/P19-Interview-AOD-2015.html
  2. Working through it, but still too soon to form a fair opinion besides "my brain hurts," lol. Work is keeping me busy, so this one may take a bit of time. I have some predictions and theories, but I will let them stew for a bit before posting.
  3. Definitely Illya from FSN, and Satsuki from Tsukihime (the sopposed remake is including that). Another I can think of is Jack, from Dengeki Stryker. As a honorable mention: Akane From Da Capo 2
  4. For myself, physical copies are a nightmare to import. So, I generally stick to digital distribution. Though if you have any internet friends you can rely on that travel, you could always ask them to pick up some safe titles for you. Someone I know on another forum visits Japan frequently, so I worked out the details for him to buy and ship to me Fate/Stay Night. It's the only hardcopy of a VN I own, but I regret nothing.
  5. I normally stay away from MG's stuff (setting aside 7th expansion stuff), but I admit this one looks pretty good for a moege. As long as it's not as obnoxious as Ikkoi I might just preorder it.
  6. I never could find anything by Jast that said they translated/had a patch for the CG voices, think they just opted out of that section. But you are correct, the characters are primarily joking and making comments about each cg.
  7. It was alright, tbh it REALLY depends on who's story you go into. Without spoiling anything, I'll just say some were downright bad, but a few actually did give me the feels. Also, I hesistate to add this to the list, but technically "Sword of Asumi" is a Oelvn... Had a GREAT concept behind it, but the final product was pretty bare-bones and disappointing.
  8. At least I didn't notice any backhanded comments such as "It's like reading playboy for the articles." like a recent Kotaku segment I found.
  9. May Kami help you, too.
  10. You would be surprised, but a fair amount of mosaic'd content does not actually have anything drawn underneath - or if they do, it usually isn't what you think it is. Often, groups like Jast and Mangagamer work with the devs to draw those in. Basically, It's like a obnoxious form of lingerie... it's there to frustrate you and avoid breaking any censor laws in Japan, but still appear sexy and adult. What I'm having a hard time deciding, is if I want to buy the Steam version along with the +18... Does anyone know if the Steam (all ages) version ADDS or improves anything? Kind of like Realta Nua versus standard Fate/Stay Night?. (I already know about what is removed, or at least for Kajitsu)
  11. I think you have a better chance of seeing another group doing it (or even a official translation), then to ever expect Insem/Staircase to do anything beyond trolling. Which is honestly a shame, setting aside the snark and bad attitude over the last year or so, the work they did on Hoshizora no Memoria was good imo.
  12. I-I don't know what to think. In some ways this feels sick and twisted... But in other ways: "shut up and take my money!!!"
  13. They're kinda dragging their asses with the backerkits... But I guess it "is" a lot of orders to go through lol.
  14. I understand why it's happening, and honestly better safe than sorry. That being said; the reliable access that fuwa provided is what got me really interested in VNs - I now put "alot" of funding into localization projects, both public and private - I don't know if I would have without the exposure of material I discovered. I expect alot of classics to die out and disapear, with no real way to discover them. Sure I was finding them years before coming to fuwa, but as the internet slowly tightens it's grip (so to speak) - people are going to find VNs alot harder, or impossible to obtain, unless they deal with the archaic and painful import/export shinanigans. There aren't as many "safe havens" on the net as people seem to think - if two paticular alternate sites (nameless) were to be taken offline, it would kill the VN scene completely, I'm sure. Becuase physical import/export will deter all but the stuanchest of fans. It;s a tough call, really. "Free VNs" is obviously bad for the devs and writers that create them - I'm not going to pretend otherwise - but the exposure helps bring knowledge of the genre to a wider audience. And if it wasn't such fiery hoops of death to obtain copies legitly, I know many would/will do so (just look at projects like Clannad, and the Grisaia trilogy - most of those backers have probably already downloaded and read the Vns for free.) hehe, I'm just rambling at this point, but just wanted to put my thoughts out there. No point calling it "end of the world" just yet, time will tell.
  15. Be sure to grab Utawarerumono, and google for the voice patch - that one is older, but has a ton of feels. Also, anyone know if fuwa is going to keep the misc. fixes/solutions people could find at the bottem of the project pages?
  16. "I’ll admit I’ve never been a fan of the trope of the main character being treated like crap by the heroines at the start of the story be it in an anime/manga or game as it often makes character introductions a chore as it makes said characters unlikable and often uninteresting. Fortunately this isn’t for a long period and the story gets better but if there’s a part of the game that shouldn’t feel like a chore to complete, it’s the introduction." ^ This, so much this. It's why I have never been able to start Ikinari Anata ni Koishiteiru (Ikikoi). Something just grates on my nerves with that kind of banter, at least when excessive. Nice review though, may look at it after I finish Shikkoko no Sharnoth.
  17. That's not so bad (still sucks, but could be worse), though I am more curious about the state of the other two vns. If I listen to what vndb comments have to say, there is a fair amount of controversy to re-write in the 2nd and 3rd installments. Which is too bad if true, I like some forms of controversy :3
  18. No laws will stop it from being sold. If anything stops it, it'll be some licence b.s. (though depending on which country you live in, you might need to tread carefully, due to Makina's Hscenes). As for a potential restoration patch in the event +18 doesn't become available for sale? Hard to say, but I sort of have my doubts. Kajitsu is already floating around out there with the original translation, but for the other two titles to be restored would take some real dedication I imagine. But I could be wrong, plenty of resto patches out there already (IMHHW is a good example). But as I understand it, the +18/non +18 Grisaia trilogy has fundamental differences that go beyond just ripping out hscenes. Kind of like FSN versus FSN Realta Nua.
  19. Nonsense, everyone knows Kenji is the true end. :3 Ahahaha - but seriously, it's worth going through at least once for comedic value. Now it's just a case of trial and error.
  20. I had a mixed impression of Yumina, but I gotta admit the feels at the end of Kirara's route were also real. A mix of the music playing at the time, and , had me all choked up.
  21. I love the concept, but it could be hard to pull off unless the writer(s?) have a firm idea on each characters personalities - and are able to stay unique feeling from the others. Mmmm, not sure how to explain that better... It's like... my impression of Swords of Edo, even though there were varied characters, they all gave off the same vibe; you could just sense they were written with a certain mindset, so when they spoke, it felt very "samey". Ah! I just thought of a good example: one actor in a massive play, having to play all the roles. Not to say you should have a different writer for every character, nor every perspective... Just that you need to change up "how" *you* think and feel when "stepping into the shoes" of each character. Handhelds are my bane but I have bad eyes so it can't be helped haha.
  22. Ahhhh such a tease D: but still, I like how Loco15 put it: "I-it's not like I wanted to watch this or anything. B-baka! "Watches in 720p"
  23. It would be really interesting to see if they could push for a surprise ps3/ps4 port if they put it out on the psn store. (than again, persona 4 golden is on the psn but "only" for vita, so just because it's on a central network doesn't mean it will be all-platforms, sadly) Which raises a question, I wonder why they restrict games to certain platforms when it can cross with minimal effort? *shrugs* Wakarimasen lol ┓(゚ペ ┏ -Insem, Summer '14
  24. Ah fair enough, such as concerns about in Grisaia no Kajitsu. Sorry about that, was abit presumptious of me.
