I played shenmue 1 and 2 a year ago and I was fascinated just like the first time I played them (When I was 15), there are so many details and things that shenmue did and no other game has done since then.

have you read eden*? is not really a typical vn by any means. muv luv alt is really something different too (no adult protagonist here but the story is epic) sadly you need to read a lot of nothing (extra and unlimited like 50 hours of reading)before getting to the good part maybe Umineko and Rose Guns Days (havent played yet but again not your typical vns) you are out of luck really, there are just very few vn with the conditions you are looking for even in japanese there are very few compared to the "typical ones"

muramasa is not an easy vn to read even if you know some japanese

I guess this is one of those vn that you either love or hate there is no in between

sadly there are only a few vns with adult protagonist out there translated this are a little old but really cool both of them snatcher and policenauts sengoku rance this one i dont think it fits what you are looking for eve burst error <---im reading it but so far looks good. jouka no monshou <--- didn't read it but looks cool and really short so prob my next vn.

Well the novel could have taken 2 directions, a realist one or a fantasy one, it took the realism one were she was acting like a real bully victim and not like a super hero the same with Kagami a guy who saw bullying and did what he could (and they are both kids too), and I'm glad it did, that's why I love it so much, we already have a loooot of fantasy vns out there, even the nekoko's route was a bit too much. But this again is a personal taste, I love all types of vns but I prefer slice of life+drama above everything.

well sometimes I look for what you call "carbon copy of real life" just like katawa shoujo for example. And saying that Aeka's role was playing the victim then you don't understand what bully is , but it is fine, you are entitle to have your own opinion

On to Aeka's route. Sadly, I'm mostly looking forward to it just so I can be done with this VN and move on to read something both better and more to my taste... aeka's was the most believable route of all of them imo and the best one so maybe you will like it.
