Narcissu spanish translation. (Traducción al español)
Zalor replied to Deep Blue's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
I approve because of my love for Narcissu! But I don't know any Spanish (well, maybe like 4 words lol). Also regarding the Agilis translation, here are my thoughts of it (copy and past from a discussion I was having with somebody else regarding his translation compared to Haeleth's): Also, contains spoilers! -
Please excuse the Bump. An updated, polished, and all around more refined version of my analysis of Narcissu 1 was published on the blog, you can read it here: Narcissu and Death.

I am a casualty to Rewrite's common route. My short lived journey felt so long... I remember crawling through the trenches of text, the only salvation I saw amidst the downpour of monotonous dialogue was the white light at the end of the tunnel. Shell shocked laying in the mud, my comrades encouraged me, "Once you pass the common route, eternal joys shall be known to you". But I was too weak, my abdomen still bleeding from one of Lucia Konohana's punches. I closed my eyes and exited, never to continue that journey again. I'm sorry comrades, I let you down...

Welcome to the forums~ I liked School Days for this one reason, never has a story given you the middle finger so blatantly and not give a shit at all. It takes balls to create something like that. Plus the death scenes are awesome. It's definitely no master piece (far from it) but I would rather something like School Days exist than not exist.

Just saw the update. I actually like 10. I vote for it to stay at 10. -
Kanon has a Blu-ray release in Japan, but not in the States. Funimation released the dvd's of Kanon (which I also own) but never released the bluray version. For cheap (free!) Blu-ray quality you're probably going to need to torrent it.

Swan Song is a Japanese visual novel that would give you seemingly insignificant choices (like bringing a rock or something as a weapon) and than making that choice significant later down the line. However, while the story made me question my morality, the choices themselves rarely did. I agree, the only time I feel like I made important choices that questioned my personal philosophies was when I read Episode 1 of Dysfunctional Systems. I think creating meaningful choices is definitely something OELVN might have more potential for. However, this is just me speculating, but I think one of the reasons for that is the differnce between western games and Japanese games. Western games seem to place more emphasize on life, death, morality; whereas Japanese games generally are more focused on world and character building.

Classics are easier because they are public domain, so you can get in no legal trouble for adapting them. Adapting popular/contemporary fiction would be hard as hell because you would need permission from the writers and publishers, and so much money would need to get involved. Anyone on the internet could get together and adapt a classic into a VN if they were properly motivated. Plus, I'm a pretentious asshole and rarely read non-classics. ^.^ That's really interesting. I may actually buy that, thanks for sharing.

Hurray for Necroing! This is actually an idea I had for a while (I'm surprised I missed this thread when it first came out). I think adapting classics as visual novels could be interesting. For instance, image The Great Gatsby as a visual novel. To be able to hear the 1920's jazz in the background, it would only further immerse you in the Jazz age setting that defines the novel. Also, if you were to adapt literature into visual novels, you would have to get innovative with the presentation. Text boxes and sprites would not do these stories justice! But with a bit of creativity, I'm sure there is a way you could combine the writing with text and music without compromising the original work. Regarding the Great Gatsby though, its still protected under copyright. It won't enter public domain until 2021. =(

Once I thought about hacking Kanon, altering the translation script to my fancy (kind of like abridging it), and then re-patching it. That would also require hacking the game to display sprites and CGs when you want to. When I sat down and started trying to learn how to hack VNs, I lost all my previous motivation.

If I read a VN where the quality of writing is inconsistent, I read the good quality routes and then stop.

G'day to all you fine denizens of the interwebs!

Welcome, now you can lurk with a name! lol, but yeah I look forward to seeing you around. -
Welcome to the community~. If your looking for recommendations, then here are a few. If you want a really good short Visual novel, looks no further than Narcissu, (I recommend reading the original before the prequel). If you don't mind dark themes and want a longer story, then I highly recommend Swan Song. I don't really know how to classify Symphonic Rain, but a while ago many people on the forums recommended it to me and I loved it.

Welcome back, that kind of sucks how you had to work during Christmas. I hope you got paid well for it. As for me, I mostly spent my holiday break writing while listening to Impressionist music. Not the most exciting way to spend your time, but I enjoyed it. Also, I finally got around to reading Narcissu, which is now one of my favorite Visual Novels.

Symphonic Rain is great, gave it a 9/10 on VNDB. The only problem is that it is a bit slow at first, but it rewards you for your patience. Also, be sure to read all of the routes, that's the only way to unlock the true route. Anyway, welcome to the forums~

In total agreement, seeing the latest 10 threads would more accurately showcase recent forum activity than only 5. And yeah, we do have plenty of blank space available. -
That's a lot of languages you have under your belt, kudos to you.

I'm thrilled. I've wanted to send something to the blog for a while now, but nothing inspired my writing until I read Narcissu and couldn't stop thinking about it.
