Goodbye to one member, OriginalRen and what you remember about him

First time I'd created the thread for another member. I'd make this based on his last post here. Anyway, is any of member here had the impression about him since 2014. If you ask me, he was recently suffered some kind of depression or maybe some kind of panic attack if we looking from his posts recently. Oh, and I think he wasn't passionate in Visual Novel anymore (Maybe I will in future). And since he was always did many effort for us Fuwanovel user, my suggestion would be some member here give him goodbye or maybe what you remember from OriginalRen for example as memorial here. As for mine, well from his post he was maybe a bit attention seeker just like bigfatround0 said and he was did made many post about salt (He also complain that old member need to resort to shitposting and clickbait in Fuwanovel here). Sorry if I only had bad memory about him, but well it's my impression about him recently and beside there's many more Fuwanovel member who could describe him more accurately. Oh, and he was quite careless for deleting his translation script (I had enough read the complain about that, so please not do it again here).

tldr - As some kind of parting thread for OriginalRen, just post what's your impression about him. And please not posting in regard of his traumatic experience.

PS - I just conclude about how Ren was stopping come to Fuwanovel from this quote here.

From the first word, I think it means that he didn't had any passion to participate here, but he's still interested to respond to the comment. But from his recent post (I remember that he sort of unleash his frustration back at his thread with something like Fuwanovel didn't had any holiday event or anything like that just like one years ago (Apparently it was hidden by mod here), and after that he made this post here), I think it's quite easy to interpret that he was quite depressed back there. And also in regard of his behavior like Arcadeotic said if some of you want to know more here.

I admit that I am a very casual member of the Fuwanovel community, so I'm almost never up to date on the recent drama. From what I gather it just seems that one day he decided that the site wasn't what it was to begin with and it needed "saving", from what is beyond me, but just gave up on it in the end. Possibly there was some giveaway drama? 

Well there was probably some real life drama happening to him at the time, but based on his last post hopefully he sorted it out to some degree. 

Now time for me to be a massive hypocrite and suggest that if there was some real life issues that he was struggling with, posting a "eulogyesque" thread is just kinda in poor taste and kinda weird.

As for myself, well, I never had that much contact with Run, but I've been on this site, both as an anon lurker and a member, I can say that he has been quite colorful, more so than your average user.

I have nothing against the guy, but when he comes to the chat and starts circle-jerking about figurines, it leaves a bad aftertaste.

He's still around in the Bat's Discord server, so if you for some reason want to sy hi, he's there, for now that is.

Unless you're wise, you won't understand how a forum community could be made better (given how people behave, and what they would want to have, if it existed). And you'd have to be experienced to know good, viable ways to get there.

Well he's just a guy, and member of the community. He got attached to something and created too much for himself (also stuff that might not ness. work). I think that's not rare at all, just for him it happened visible in public.

The reason why I get so impersonal(?) is he's largely the opposite type of person as me with opposite strengths and methodology, and cause he stepped on my toes once. But the podcast (one on porn) was interesting, japan videos were nice, and the VN streams were an interesting thing.

A lot of my thoughts are similar to Chronopolis's. Furthermore, I think getting as invested in a forum community as Ren did, is kind of a dangerous thing to do. Forum's inevitably change, and people come and go. It seemed to me that Ren got more attached to the community than to VNs. So once his close friends either left, or became less active, then his purpose for remaining here kind of dwindled. 

Furthermore, the games and events he used to host aren't getting the same amount of responses that they used to, which seems to have frustrated him. But this is largely attributed to the fact that Fuwa is a lot bigger than it used to be. I remember when OriginalRen was new here, and I remember what the community was like then. It was small and everybody that was active pretty much knew each other. It was also still a fairly new community, so it was relatively easy for him to gain popularity by being as active as he was. He really developed the community in 2014, and I believe it was the fun he had with the people back then that gave him fond memories of the place. 

But as the site and community has gotten larger, people seem to be more interested in talking about VNs and related subjects. People aren't as interested in the community itself. Back when OriginalRen's popularity was at its peak, the Fuwanovel community wasn't exactly VN focused. It was more a place where people who had some interest in VNs could gather and get to know each other, and occasionally discuss VNs. But it seems to me now (and I could be wrong as I am hardly as active as I used to be), that the community is more focused on VNs. Fuwanovel is now more a place to actively discuss VNs, and less a place for casual chatter and occasional talk about VNs.

The way I would describe the Fuwanovel that OriginalRen was really invested in, was like a bar. It was a relatively small place where people gathered, talked, and would sometimes talk about serious stuff (VNs). And while there were some people who cared more about VNs then casual discussion, they were relatively few (I was one of those people at that time). And I think these people, largely didn't talk to Ren much as a consequence of that.

Fuwanovel now seems to be more like a convention. Where people are more serious about this hobby, and the primary focus of this community now is on the actual hobby itself. 

Like Chronopolis, I am largely ambivalent towards Ren since I was never really a friend of his. And there once was a time where I felt that he was abusing his popularity to push the site in directions that he personally wanted. But looking at it retrospectively, while I did have a few issues with Ren at times, he overall served the community well. He did a good thing for the community back in 2014, and it is sad for me to see him go (although a part of me is still skeptical about him leaving, since this isn't the first time he "quit"). But yeah, he was a good guy and did good things. But I can't claim to ever have been close to him.

Or was it? From my perspective, it was more of a road from people talking about vn's to groups of people having fun in general; vn's were just a thing that joined everyone all together. Ren isn't necesarilly wrong with his opinion about Fuwanovel community; it's just that things got a bit too personal for him, but that's exactly the price you pay for being active and dedicated towards communities on the internet. One day you just wake up and feel the thing's not there anymore and it makes you sad, your life pointless; empty for a longer while, before you realize, it was yet just another chapter of your life and it's time to move on.

I can't say that I talked too much to him, must've done so like three or four times besides of attending a couple of his unboxing of posters and figurines.

Aside from that it seemed that he used to do a lot for Fuwa and cared about it also seemed to be quite popular.

Well I created this thread because I was bored. Beside, I didn't remember any member announced they'll stop visiting Fuwanovel except for Ren here, so I figured why I didn't give some kind of tribute here to one of most important Fuwanovel member here. Also I kind of want to knew the opinion about him from other member here (I didn't know him much to be honest, other than he commented on my late introduction thread asking my avatar, told me that I'm still young here, and well his depression here recently). For last word here, Deep Blue here was right, if Ren want to came back, he could do it later of course (If he managed to sort out himself, and I think I'll change the thread name if he did his usual ie made many thread).

PS - By the way, any member who stop visiting here also didn't said something like 'Fuwanovel need saving' at least. And since he was care about Fuwanovel so much, why didn't give him tribute here once again.

There was one other VERY important person that disappeared from Fuwanovel and very much led a crusade with her. And that was the site's founder Aaeru.
