For those of you who are curious, I played this VN on a request from an old friend who wanted an opinion before he bought it (I already had the game, just hadn't opened it). This game is relatively short, being a kinetic novel, but that doesn't detract from the experience at all, at least in my eyes.

Sorceress Alive is a game that tries to emulate a pattern similar to MLA. Introduce characters in a generic setting so that it is easy to understand for readers, also serving as an introduction to the world. Downsides of patterns like that is you really have to endure playing something generic for the best part to come. Sorceress Alive does that pattern well albeit with some glaring weaknesses, if those weakness were solved, I wouldn't hesitate to call this one of the best fantasy VN's I played.
Sayonara o Oshiete has a good number of English reviews (1 2 3), plus reddit comments (4), but what strikes me is that all of them are positive despite some noticed flaws. But as a plotge fetishist and pragmatist to the bones, I demand demolition of fake idols. This bastion shall fall today.

I recently got the impulse to go back and replay Eien no Aselia, which sat at the top (mostly by inertia and alphanumeric reasons) of my vndb votes for so long. Eien no Aselia was one of the final games I played in English before I took the dive into Japanese untranslated VNs, and I hadn't replayed it since, though I played Seinarukana within a year of entering the labyrinth.
Eien no Aselia is one of those few 'oldies' I found hadn't lost anything vital in the years since I last played it.
This would be my first blog post so yeah.. As I said in the description of the blog, this is more of my thoughts so it might be unorganized unlike a review.
I thought this was another generic Isekai but I heard a lot of people praising it for the Alive routes. The game has two parts, the Sorceress and Alive routes. A lot of people have said that Alive was really great so I was willing to play the trope-filled Sorceress routes just to experience that.
Now on to the game itself.
