  1. LISTS LISTS LISTS LISTS LISTS LISTS LISTS LISTS Some people like to read VNs as soon as humanly possible. Some like to just preview the translations to come. Sometimes a translation is abandoned part way through, never to finish. Whatever reason they may have, many like to read partial translations. Plenty of VNs make this easy due to their route-based structure. You can often get a complete story even if there are only one or two routes available. However, despite there being a resource to list all VNs completely translated, there is none to list those that are only partially translated. This list will encompass both translations currently in progress and those that are not. It will NOT, however, cover the current progress of in-translation projects, it will only tell you how much is available in its released partial patch. If you want to keep up to date of all translations currently in progress, please follow the VNTS updates arranged by Tay and I, and follow the VNTL-Moon update aggregator. Note: This post will not cover interface or machine translations. There needs to be at least some manual translation of the story text. When possible, I will try to link to the project pages, but sometimes those are no longer available. In-progress translations (These are patches for VNs with currently active projects that wish to release a complete translation eventually) Amagami (patch links, copy and paste them from the page) - Translates the first day (project page) Bishoujo Mangekyou -Norowareshi Densetsu no Shoujo- (patch link) - Translates the prologue. Clover Day's (patch link) - Translates the common route only. Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai (patch link) - Translates the Kana, Ureshino, and Shirasaki normal routes. (project page) Dracu-riot! (patch link) - Translates Elina, Azusa, Rio, Nicola, and half of Miu's route, 90% total translation. (Old project dead, new project here) Hara Kano!! (final, fixed patch is almost done) Tenshin Ranman (licensed) - Translates the prologue. Project homepage is down, patch was lost. SP license makes this moot. To Heart 2 XRated (patch link) - 100% translation, but still in an unfinished beta due to having unedited routes. Witch's Garden (patch link) - Translate the prologue. Wonderful Everyday - Discontinuous Existence(SubaHibi) (licensed) - A "leaked" patch translated around 80% of the game but it has since been licensed and the patch removed. 3. Lots of cynicism in this thread... Dating is nothing more than the procedure of finding out if someone is compatible with you. The only difference between online dating and hooking-up-with-someone-at-the-bar dating is the amount of information you start with and the degree of lying possible. When you meet someone in the bar you have to worry whether that person is hiding a penchant for murder. When you meet someone online you have to worry whether that person is actually 10… AND hiding a penchant for murder. The only other thing that’s different is in the real world you usually meet other people while you’re both doing an activity you each enjoy. So you start out with something in common, which makes things easier. Let’s take the bar example again - you both enjoy booze, I’m sure that is something a lasting relationship can be built upon… At the end of the day I don’t see much wrong with online dating. People say it’s fairly unsuccessful, but so is dating in general. The vast majority of people who date never get together, and those that do enjoy a 50% divorce rate, so online dating in comparison may be slightly more unsuccessful, probably because you both don’t start out drunk which is a real shame, but there’s not too much different about it. And lastly, I don’t think your therapist really expects you to find your one true soul in this exercise, he probably thinks you’ll get other things out of it. Something that'll help with your social condition, and maybe he thinks online dating is a way to engage in this because you don't have to be out getting yourself plastered to start.

    What are you playing?

I'm (finally) done with SubaHibi. My first actual eroge in japanese! *self-claps* It was... great. I think. I actually have no idea what I think of this game as a whole, as I could only comment on its parts right now. I need everything to simmer down before I can say something about it, to be honest. Meanwhile this screen can probably fairly sum up the game:

  6. Behold! The full glory of an (almost impossible) C64 visual novel. No sound, cause pic. Jokes aside, this might be a near perfect, running imitation (mockup?) I made, but I swear it can actually happen, sooner or later. Definately not with Holo, but a retro-esque catgirl vn, simulating C64 hardware is looming on the horizon. Think of it as some sort of a test and a tribute to the most enjoyable times of my life. DISCUSS UPDATE 23/05/2016: Time sure flies fast, eh? I resumed work on the project, which was previously on hiatus for quite a bit. That's right - nothing's cancelled. I'm not making any promises, but there might be something neat coming soon™. Meanwhile, have another poll. UPDATE 20/08/2015: I wrapped up the results of last poll and made a new one. Regarding previous one, there's no big surprise - cat girls, romance and dystopian steampunk got the most votes. It's not like I ever planned to go along with the demands, but it's more or less what I've been working on; it puts me at ease, knowing people would like to see that kind of thing as well. TL&DR - Your weeb tastes aren't that bad as I originally thought Previous polls: #1 #2

  10. Statistics, demographies (demographics? I hate words.) and studies are just excuses. Online dating is just a means of engaging contact, like picking someone up in a bar or having a fateful encounter. Whether or not a relationship works out or not, depends on the people involved, not on a number. It's not a lottery. Here are some statistics I've defeated in my life: "1 out of 2 people will fail". Well in that case I just have to be the one. Live fighting or die trying!

  13. So I just finished If my heart had wings ( Kono Ōzora ni, Tsubasa o Hirogete) and I have to say this was the most beutifull story I have seen in my life. This was my first visual novel. I was a big anime fan and one day I decided to try out a visual novel and I picked this one. If were to compare this visual novel to all anime I have seen this visual novel would be the best (and I have watced a lot of anime). I mean I loved every character especially Kotori she became my most favorite character ever. I won't play any of the other routes because Kotori route is the only and true ending for me it was so beutifull! I cried many times and I'm still crying now. I wonder what happened to Kotori and Aoi after the ending. Did they marry and had kids? I would like to know but I guess there's no sequel to this .This visual novel just left me speechless I will never forget it and always keep it in my heart. Looks like I won't be able to watch anime or read visual novels for a long time now. Have you ever had this feeling when you finished anime or a visual novel and didn't know what to do with your life anymore? And do you have any suggestions what whould I do now? Thanks for reading! And sorry for bad english.

  15. There is a reason I recommended DxD as in Tay's "I need a sensei." thread. It's because it takes the ecchi to the max, far more than any other show out there, and still manages to do it with a pleasant and enjoyable tone. As much as you think Shinmai Maou has ecchi, DxD has more, and does it better. The only cringing I did was initially when Issei screamed "I'm going to make a harem!". This was before I realized this series blatantly knows what it's doing, and rolls with its tits quite literally hanging out.

I couldn't use the render that you use on your current avatar because it's chopped top and bottom, it wouldn't fit well no matter what I did so I tried a different one, I liked the outcome but Alucard's render and this one don't mix too well on their styles, but I think it was good regardless. From all of those, my personal favorite was v3.

  28. Well, "dead" is a pretty tricky concept to nail down, and it's unclear exactly what makes or breaks the connection to an avatar. For instance, if someone is asleep, is it possible for them to "load in"? Perhaps not. Not trying to make some deep point here or argue about details, but rather, I'm just saying there are enough unexplained elements that I can let this explanation slide. Anyway, I wrapped up Heroine 4's route today, and will pick up with Heroine 5 next week. I might reread the whole common route first... we'll see how I feel after a week away from the game. I don't really have much to say about Heroine 4 - it was mostly sweet, though that second H scene was... weird. One thing that made me happy about both Heroine 3 and Heroine 4 routes was the heavy use of the best BGM song I've heard in the game so far. I'd previously thought it was being really underutilized, since I'd only heard it once or twice, but after those two routes I realized they were just saving it for the right moments, since it came up all the time:

  29. Online dating is just a different approach to the dating side of things, it's not some two headed beast, it's usually easier to get into due to a multitude of factors, although it can also have opposite effects in your social abptitude, especially if you start shutting yourself in said online relationship and don't try to progress it to a real life counterpart. I can see why your therapist would recommend it, especially if you've never had much romantic contact before, an online approach is not a bad thing to try out, as long as you know exactly what you're getting into and don't allow yourself to build a wall around you to avoid real life contact. Online personas can be a terrible thing if you let them consume you. Speaking from experience, I met a girl online some years back, we got along just fine texting and whatnot and we talked about all kinds of stuff, we didn't start dating online because we both felt like we needed to meet up in real life for that but we did ackowledge we had grown fond of each other. After some months I finally managed to find an opportunity to go visit her for the first time. I travelled all night for like 6 hours, it was pretty tiring, and when we finally met the next day for the first time I have to say I never experienced as much social awkwardness and anxiety as I did then. It is what one would call a disaster date and I have but myself to blame. I'll spare you specifics, but needless to say we never did begin dating (at least we're still good friends now and can look back and laugh at it). The point is, you really have to make sure if you're planning on developing any form of relationship skills, you can not shut yourself off behind a screen above all else, otherwise you'll go through shit like I did, opening up and going through awkward moments is part of growing up, and I think your therapist's advice is meant for you to try and open up with other people rather than shut yourself off so just keep that in mind when trying online dating.

I do like it though ^^ and if you guys want to try more for fun, I would appreciate that as well~ I actually stumbled upon an Alucard picture that seems to complement the first render that resembles my current profile picture very well although I do not think this one is a render yet. You think it'd work as a render in the diagonal style of split that you did? Yeah my biggest fear was the incompatibility of the two art styles/character designs although they would look pretty bad-ass together (the source of my interest) I'm aware of the user you're talking about, though I think both images were from the same artist, probably it was intended to be like that from the beginning, not sure though. I quite liked the outcome I got using the second picture you suggested, tell me what you think about it. And the Alucard's image is not working, if you fix it I could try to work with it. I also tried adding a border, yay or nay? v3 v3 with border

I honestly couldn't find anything close to good enough for a split frontal, mostly due to Alucard having almost no renders. I haven't watched Hellsing so I can't tell the difference between the classic and the Ultimate one, but I believe it's the clothes? Anyway, I found nothing with the Ultimate one as well. I tried making a diagonal split but I have mixed feelings about the results. You don't have to take any of them, I can try to look a bit more or even maybe try to make a good render if you want me to.

  41. Hello RinXD, it has been quite a while I gave up FPS games a long time ago, but I understand your point. My counter argument is this: balancing is a huge part of online gaming and having a guaranteed one-shot kill in a sniper rifle (no matter how realistic) isn't very balanced. They're usually put into games to be used in a scout-like role away from the pack where getting one shot kills isn't always fair to the other players (you also have to remember that most of the more popular FPS games are heavily focused on seizure-inducing pace unfortunately)

    ACEN: Ryukishi07

So I figured I'd make a post here just to give some information on Ryukishi07. He is one of the special guests at ACEN (Anime central) this year. I'm a terrible writer but figured I'd give some information/highlights that I got from one of his panels today. Also, I'm crazy tired so I'll clean it up later. Tomorrow, I'll either update this post or just add a new one about his new game announcement. So first, some pictures. Please forgive my photography, I don't have very steady hands. Here is his panel slideshow (yeah.... he only had one slide) Here are a few pictures of him. Again, unorganized list of interesting points, will be cleaned up later. The main discussions of his panel was related around his writing of Higurashi and Umineko. The writing style that he uses is a bit different than most. Instead of creating outlines and having expectations for his endings, he has a more fluid free writing system. He will often write without having any idea how he is going to end his stories. One of the biggest influences for writing was his friend BT. He would write out ideas and provide them to him to see how he would respond. His goal was often to create surprise in his staff and readers (As I'm sure any of us are aware of if seeing any of his work). An interesting story that he told us was that when creating Higurashi, he was actually very influenced by the film "Independence Day". At one point, he was actually trying to find a way to make them fight aliens. (thank god he didn't). Apparently, there is a section where Keiichi and Rika are preparing for a fight, and that was taken from a scene in that movie. (Never seen the movie... I know, I'm horrible). Ever since then, he has a strict rule of not consuming content when writing. He is a big zombie fan... though not so much Japanese zombies. He likes the way they portray zombies in the West. Also.... He's not apposed to the idea of creating a game where zombies go for girls panties. (Yes, I'd play that too) With characters, he always has 2 sides to them. The example he used was Rika. She comes of a young, cute, and super sweet. However, when alone, she is actually quite different. He also avoids telling how characters feel. Instead of telling you, he likes to convey their emotions and motives through their words and actions. He feels that by doing so, it builds a better connection as it is your interpretation. It also prevents having a very solid baseline so he can throw you for a loop later. An interesting question that was asked was about the setting for Higurashi. He got the idea for the setting after reading Seishi Yokomizo's "The Village of Eight Graves". (That was a interesting fun fact). Now for some Umineko information. (FYI, It's on my to play list, so this is even more of a text dump than anything else). Umineko was fun for him because of the fact that there was so much feedback after each game he came out with. He actually would go through all the feedback he could to see how people were responding to his game. Umineko actually turned into a game for him as well. As the readers were taken down different paths, he got to enjoy how they responded and created fun for them as well. One thing I found unique was that he actually changed the 3rd game. Originally, there was a character that was introduced in the 5th game. This was actually intended to be the 3rd but he didn't want to drive everyone into despair. The last thing I have was a fun "quote" from his panel. Granted, everything he said was through a translator (my Japanese isn't good enough yet) but it stuck out to me. "The sadistic edge of writing is important". I think this can be interpreted in a lot of ways. He really made it apparent that the writing itself is his inspiration. It could be the sadistic part is the feedback from his audience, or even the content of his works. However, I think one thing is for certain. From what I have experienced of his works, they are amazing and I look forward to giving an update on his new game tomorrow. Hope at least someone found this useful. Please chalk up all errors to my horrible writing, note taking, or poor tolerance for sleep deprivation and alcohol.
