I developed most of my cooking and baking skills living alone, though I refined them with my family as taste-testers. I used a lot of really simple recipes during my time alone, and I know what it is like to get tired of eating the same damned thing everyday. So, I thought it would be nice to leave some of these recipes for those looking forward to someday living alone themselves (or those who already are). Anyone who has ever figured out a tasty idea that is ridiculously easy and reasonably cheap to carry out should also post their recipes here. I should say that the first recipe is generally a hit at parties (whether familly or business related... or normal ones, even), simply because it is simple, can be picked up easily at parties, and is unbelievably addictive once consumed. That said, I suggest keeping it a once every few months thing... because you'll put on weight at a ridiculous speed consuming that stuff if you eat it regularly.

I think the problem is that not many people in the West knows about it and therefore I developed a great idea. Just yell "Visual Novel!" while attempting to assassinate President Obama. I am pretty sure the event would be spread everywhere and everyone in the West will know what a visual novel is. And everyone would jump in the VN train when they learn that such a beautiful thing where you can date cute anime girls exist.

Key protagonists are the literal definition of not doing anything and being super useless (but nice) and getting every single woman to fall in love with you. Every Key protagonist also has the bumbling idiot friend who makes them look so much cooler than they actually are. They are the protagonists that never act on sex (because if men do that it's evil), thus showing ladies how it's done and then watching them become horny and proceed to consistently have sex until drama sets in. When drama comes up in a woman's life, they stand there pretending they can actually solve something. In the end, they do literally nothing and merely wait for the right opportunity to have an epic speech reminding their girlfriend that they will and have always loved them even though they [the woman] are insecure about themselves and don't believe it's possible to have such an awesome boyfriend. At this point, time leaps occur and some magic is sprinkled on and everything is perfect. The end.

We are a very small team working on this right now, consisting of three people of which two are helping on story only. Most of the coding, writing and art has been left to me. Background story behind the project Now this is quite important because it might be a major dealbreaker for most in the western Fate fandom. The original idea for this game/story came from really wanting to see some Arturia/Gilgamesh interaction with Gilgamesh's personality being like it was during life and not messed up due to humanity being messed up during the time he was summoned. Gilgamesh being like he was in Fate/Extra CCC. We wanted to create a scenario that would fit into canon and would allow us to explore the dynamics between both characters, their personalities and their backstories. Of course, we don't want to romanticize it. We are fully aware of how problematic their relationship is due to Fate/Stay Night- we want to take all of this into account- but going further into the exploration of their relationship. Now that that has been taken out of the way, this is obviously not a fanwork solely made to have Gil and Arturia interact, we created a plot that would allow us to explore and create many other characters beyond that. We want to explore the stories of servants in the three first holy grail wars, their lives and legends. Plot During the events of the Fifth Holy Grail War, Ilyasviel von Einzbern, as the embodiment of the Holy Grail, sacrificed herself to close the pathway opened by a corrupted grail. The Greater Grail was destroyed, bringing the ritual of Fuyuki to a conclusion. However, the Grail had been in place for far too long, it held far too much concentrated magical energy; the sudden dismantlement of such a structure, which after 200 years, had almost become a natural part in the mana flow within the region, was bound to fail. The ritual ended, yet the mangled structure slowly begun to regenerate. After a couple decades had passed, the Magic Association began to become increasingly more desperate to reach Akasha. They turned their eyes to the previous ritual held in Fuyuki - and sought to recreate it. The Magic Association took their own path, straying from the knowledge of the three founding families. With the complete eradication of the Makiri/Matou line after Fifth War and the Tohsaka family head, Rin, refusing to help in any way with the recreation of the ritual, the Magic Association followed their own crooked path. The Association’s mixture of stubbornness and desperation led them to take a dangerous shortcut in their new establishment. Due to lack of planification and information, the site where the mangled grail stood was revisited and used as the centre for the newly established ritual. This reestablished Greater Grail was a source of great instability - forcing it to work like a properly built structure ignited the unstable magical energy engulfing it, resulted in the opening of a leak into Akasha. The leak led to the creation of a spiritual reality - a massive reality marble - a realm of spirits and magic with no physical manifestation, close to The Root. This realm, much like Akasha, is a place based on energy and magic, holding no connection to Gaia whatsoever. It is a place brimming with an aura of unfulfilled wishes, hatred and despair. Being influenced by the guidelines of the Grail War, the leak into Akasha serves as a way of summoning Heroic Spirits recorded within the Throne of Heroes. Due not being connected to the world in any direct way, true heroic spirits are summoned rather than emanations, as there is no need to worry for inconsistencies within the world in a spiritual realm. Similarly, the souls of magi are forcibly summoned into this realm to take part as "masters". -Except there is no Holy Grail to fight for. There is no point to the summoning. Any human with at least one working magic circuit is eligible for being summoned into this realm. Their soul will escape their body, leaving it in a coma like state. This results in many inexperienced and confused magi trapped in the place. A magus with enough magic circuits and great skill should be good enough to handle themselves and even be able to communicate with the outside world - but those with poor circuits are bound to get their minds twisted by the place, going so far into believing there actually is an omnipotent wishing granting device to fight for. While Heroic Spirits have no reason to fight each other, magi who find themselves in the realm need to fight for the existence of their soul. Upon the magic association noticing the great swirl of mana at the moment of the summoning of a master, they were able to investigate the potential of the leak in terms of reaching Akasha, and would continue to seek the exploitation of the system. If a soul - let it be heroic spirit or magus - is to perish within the realm, it will be collected by the faulty grail. The more souls the grail collects, the more power it gains to open a proper route into Akasha. Even if one does not wish to reach Akasha - they will still have to fight in order to survive against the vile attacks of the members of the Magic Association. Besides, if one wishes to escape the realm and return to Gaia, they will have to see the war through to the end. She was born within a minor magi bloodline from Wales specialized in the creation of puppet familiars and automata. He is well versed in different cultures and is very passionate about learning about myths, legends and stories from everywhere he has visited. Here's a full run down on why this will destroy the world. First off, the term futanari has been widely recognized and used in the hentai community to define a human being with both a penis and a vagina. People from all over the globe have grown fond of this term by now. Then you have the term Shemale. A shemale is someone with boobs and a penis (no vagina). By forcibly translating the term futanari to Dickgirl, one is causing a possible confusion with the word shemale, because both terms have male and female parts. Shemale = She (female) male (male) Dickgirl = Dick (male) girl (female) This will hurt future generation of baka hentais who haven't seen the term futanari yet and are confronted with two terms that seem to describe the same exact thing. If one has to translate the term futanari, at the very least translate it properly to "hermaphrodite" so there's no confusion, or leave it as "futanari" because people who read hentai are all weebs to begin with and prefer it that way. At least TRY to understand what I'm saying. I was asking why we didn't develop the VN genre in the 80's or 90's, independently form Japanese developers. Are Japanese people the only ones capable of discovering the VN genre? Do we have to "run into them" and "get a good impression", because we are incapable of developing new genres by ourselves? No - like I already said, we did attempt to make our own VNs. But they simply failed, so development of story-oriented games went in a completely different direction. Direction, that actually works on the West. That's why we are going with graphic adventure games, and that's why we became familiar with that medium, while the Japanese became familiar with VNs. VN community isn't even remotely relevant to what I'm talking about here. Japanese VNs became somewhat visible only recently. Up until that point, there was no VN community to speak of, and absolutely no bias against that medium - pretty much nobody knew about it. Nothing was stopping Western developers from creating their own text-based, novel-style digital gamebooks with visuals. Nothing, except for the lack of market for such works. Oh yeah, and what about VNs different from the typical otaku stuff that already exist? Those that don't have anime-style art, have different settings and/or more Western-style stroytelling? I mentioned 6 examples in this thread. For some mysterious reason, they aren't very popular outside of the VN community. Is this also only because of said community?

Here are my Top 5 VN Heroines: 5. Best escapism: Takabe Eri (Shusaku) There is really nothing I can say about Eri without spoiling the integral twist of the game. Just know that she is the reason to read this eroge. Especially if you are lonely and a degenerate. 4. Best tsundere: Casty Rianoit (Ciel/Ar nosurge) I actually bought the game for Ion, but Cass easily stole her place as my favorite Exa_Pico character after I got to know her better. This is pretty much the best interpretation of the modern tsundere trope I have ever seen. Everything about her behavior is just perfect. The tsun, the dere, the drama in between. I hated me, the player, for messing with her love life. I cried manly tears while she was singing Re:Incarnation. Sorry Ion, you may be the better waifu, but Cass is the better heroine (and has the better cosmosphere by far). 3. Best wife (sadly not your own): Asaka Reiko (Ushinawareta Rakuen) Reiko is awesome because she doesn't love the protagonist. And although the protagonist has a crush on her, he does not try to netori her. Instead, he tries to understand why she loves her husband so much, so he can become a better man, a man she would like, a man worth of her attention. Wow, how not VN-like! Leave it to the 25 years old games to tell a great character-driven story, haha. 2. Best romance: Midou Yuuki (Shitai wo Arau) I came for the gore, but stayed for the romance. Yuuki is one of the most "realistic" characters in a VN I had the pleasure of getting to know. If you want to characterize her, I guess she is a classic tsundere, but there is really much more to her. Her "tsun"-side really feels like a nurse who understands the responsibility she bears. Her "dere"-side really feels like a young woman in love. I also really like how she is neither a little girl nor an old woman. Something which is surprisingly rare in VNs nowadays. I also like how she is a nurse but not a slut. Something which is surprisingly rare in VNs, too. In fact, Shitai wo Arau is the only hospital VN I know of where you can romance actual angels in white, not some nymphomaniacs. 1. The ultimate girlfriend character: Sanjou Anna (Kawarazaki-ke no Ichizoku 2) She is everything a girlfriend should be. Can't really say much more without spoiling the game. 0. Mai waifu I got the bonus points. Her laughing at slaughtered enemies is just too cute. Waifus who are masochistic to you and sadistic to everyone else are just the best!

So isn't games like Dark Souls very niche too? It is a trial and error game where you die at least a couple of hundreds of times. You save every time you can but the community still loves the game. That game isn't for everyone because it is something for people who enjoy restarting and get a game over whenever you die. Why can't VNs be a niche thing that we who truly enjoy some parts of it could still do that? I still think that if we are going to make the VN market more mainstream we are no different from anything else. I know I have already said it before but no matter how something looks like you can't really change it. You may lose old customers for new ones? Who can tell if a more mainstream medium is successful? That's why the small steps we take every year is important. We get recognition on Steam, in PC reviews on sites such as PC gamer. A lot of games got two different sides with an 18+ release and all ages release. I think 2016 is yet another year we get more exposure and evolve this market. Could you tell us some small things of this idea of yours. You don't have to spoil anything but if you think we are "small minded" and can't grasp the "big revolutionary idea" you got we can't give you constructive feedback. To me @Lumaria, the slogan "Make Visual Novels Popular in the West" is just that. It's just a subtitle to put under the name Fuwanovel. The truth is that visual novels are already popular in the West. In 2012, Telltale released The Walking Dead. You probably already know this, but the game made quite an impact on not only the western gaming community, but also the youtube world. A lot of popular youtubers started playing it for their channel, ranging from your Pewdipies to your Harshly Criticals, everyone was playing it and everyone was watching it. Last year, the game that several gaming communities were talking about was Life is Strange. Similar to TWD, Life is Strange was nominated for several awards. You may disagree with my opinion, but I believe that visual novels are already popular in the West. Just because TWD uses character models instead of sprites does not mean that it should be disqualified as a visual novel. So what if Japan drinks coffee in a can, and so what if the West freezes it, drowns it in syrup, throws a fistful of sugar in it, dresses it with whip cream and calls it coffee. At the end of the day they're still considered coffee. Now on the topic of your proposed VN concepts. If you want to create a visual novel, go for it. In fact, I implore you to do it, for I would gladly try out any visual novel that comes in my way, regardless of its method of execution.

It's no daft question, it's just that you don't know. Idol animes are ones about girls wanting to be idols (and some boys appear, in some). Most classic could be Idol Densetsu Eriko, niiiiiice songs. They portray their careers to some extent. Eriko was a hard shojo, for example.

To add a bit here: Steam isn't responsible for deciding if the games will have other languages available for the players, companies are the ones who take care of that. Your everyday indie developer is also obviously very likely not going to have enough funds to hire a translator for ten different languages. There's no reason for English not to be the main language used on games, it's our lingua franca.

Specific definitional arguments about pretty much anything are generally both fruitless (nobody can agree, because, for example, the Platonic ideal Visual Novel doesn't exist) and useless (they won't actually inform the situation). Here's a more useful phrasing of the question to argue: is the experience of playing a Telltale Games release similar enough to the experience of playing a visual novel that people who enjoy the former will likely also enjoy the latter? If arguing for, ideally present a VN with a substantially similar experience (differences, if any, should be reasonably excusable as not central to the experience); if arguing against, present differences vs. all other VNs that make for a substantial enough change in the experience as to render it not enjoyable for the (rather large) western audience for Telltale Games. The former case is probably quite a bit easier than the latter, but, well, that's the nature of the argument here... I've actually never played a game by Telltale Games before, so I offer no argument either way.

Yup, a whole essay, still can't prove anything. Why should anyone care about "how" Steam became popular? Propaganda, bribing, threatening Obama's family, who cares? The fact remain that Steam is still most well known game platform with the largest amount of user (I won't count Uplay or Origin here, because they are store specialize for that company's game, not for others), and no, just because you can't find it on Google doesn't mean it's not true. Let me suggest you something extremely simple: how about just make a poll on New York Times (lol) and see how many people know/use Steam, and how many people know/use the other random sites that you posted? And if it's popular, if it can provide developers with lots of potential customers, then the developers will choose it, that's all.

I stopped reading this a while ago, mainly because I found Chisato absolutely intolerable. I don't mind this character type when they're a villain, but can't stand them when they're treated as sympathetic protagonists. Also to make things worse, everyone around the MC seems to love her, and chastises him for his completely justified (occasional) dissing of her. Even common route levels of Chisato annoyed me, I can't even fathom reading her dedicated route that will no doubt portray her sympathetically. I've seen it all before. There are other things in this VN I'm not big on, but I can tolerate everything but her. How dare she ruin the childhood friend archetype for me. So, would I encounter any problems story wise if I skipped her route? Also is there a clear point at which the common route ends and her route begins? Because my last save is in the common route. I'm not sure if the transition is obvious like Grisaia, or more subtle and there's something I need to look out for.
