Welcome to Fuwanovel, and I also like chicken by the way (If it's fried though). Chicken aside, if you like some sappy VN maybe HatsuKoi would be good, and so does both of Princess Evangile and Koichoco. Also if you want more sci-fi VN, then both of Root Double and I/O would be good (Ever17 as well). Hope you enjoy yourself here.2 points -
VN of the Year 1991 - ELLE
Gibberish reacted to kivandopulus for a blog entry
Year 1991 was the first with monthly issues and for that reason the hardest. Let's first try to determine its prominent features for VNs: - Number of adult games increased greately to some 100 titles overall - PC-98 era arrives with mouse support and the older systems finally lose support - RPG percentage remains high at some 20% while ADV grows significantly to some 50% - New sub-genres appear - point-and-click, quiz, board game. - Some games start to use action icons instead of command selection thanks to mouse use. - It's the last year without any government regulation. After November 1991 shoplifting incident regulations being created. Masterpieces of 1991: 1. CAL II 2. Cosmic Psycho 3. Cybernetic Hi-School Part 4 ~Ape Hunter J~ 4. ELLE 5. Gidyy 6. Jesus II 7. Nike 8. Nostalgia 1907 9. Psychic Detective Series Vol. 4: Orgel 10. Psychic Detective Series Vol. 5: Nightmare 11. Rance III - Leazas Kanraku - Those were the games with great stories and a professional touch. And I'm biased here towards ELLE since it's the only one that got renewed version in 2000s. Otherwise it might be a serious competition.1 point -
I just completed my first ever visual novel. To be fair, it was recommended to me about six years ago and yes, it's taken me this long to finally read it. I had the game and played through about 3/4 of Tsugumi's route before I switched to a written LP (complete with music links of course) due to a couple of different reasons, but I found it to be an amazing experience! I played 999, VLR and I am working on ZTD. This genre is something I eat right up. I'm going to play Remember 11 next, and maybe Never 7 one day. Honestly, the first two routes (Sora & Tsugumi) while they had their bright points, the slice of life aspect of things completely bored me. And I'm one who loves Slice of Life usually! It was just so badly written, imo, and cringeworthy. I'm sorry, but I hated the 'kick the can' scenes, after reading it once I largely just skimmed it. I was considering stopping it, because I read rave reviews online but it was just so ...dry. God, am I glad I continued. Once I got to You's route, it totally picked up. From that point onward, I could not stop reading! I love twists, learning about Jungian psychology and philosophical dilemmas in the way that Uchikoshi always includes these little tidbits in his games. I would just HIGHLY recommend this game to anyone who liked the Zero Escape series. Get through the first two Takeshi routes and do everything else as the Kid and it will be supremely enjoyable. Now I'm here because when I googled Ever 17 discourse, it took me to this forum most of the time. Since I am planning on reading a lot more VNs, I figure it'd be a good idea to join up! Because this topic hasn't really accomplished anything, I'll ask this: Who is your favorite Ever 17 character and why? When I first started, it was Tsugumi. Then it quickly jumped to Sora, (I have a soft spot for AIs) but really, I think the most interesting character was You. They are definitely my top three! I love tsunderes and mysterious characters, so Tsugumi was a shoe-in right away. Sora is just so cute, and I absolutely love AI characters so much and I think their supposed "inability" to experience love is so tragic. But You (starting with her route) just engaged me so much, and I learned to really love her. Also I loved all that third-eye stuff. I love occult discourse.1 point

ToHeart 20 year anniversary
Narcosis reacted to InvertMouse for a topic
Just saw it trending on Twitter: https://twitter.com/hashtag/ToHeart20周年?src=hash I missed out on this series back in the days, so happy to hear any memories and thoughts on the franchise, especially the original game for those who have played it. Maybe this is a good excuse to open the game up again ?1 point -

First learn how to read. Unless you learn by speaking. Plenty of online resources out there. There's a pinned topic somewhere with a list of websites that can help you with grammar, etc.1 point -

Dreamysyu reacted to PhleBuster for a topic
We finally have a playable English language demo out for Chuusotsu! You can download it directly from this link. Obviously not a final build yet, but it should give a pretty good idea of the game already. Looking forward to your impressions!1 point -
I heard that this is the ancestor of nakige genre and an inspiration to the key games that came later. Its so unfortunate that this is still untranslated.1 point

Bought a bunch of visual novel-ish titles recently, so I thought I would look up a visual novel-ish forum to join and discuss the heck out of them, and here I am. The games I bought: - Zero Escape: The Nonary Games (trilogy bundle, with voice acting!) - Steins;Gate (Finally! This is the choice of the Steins;Gate... El psy kongroo) - Corpse Party on 3DS (sucks that its sequels haven't been adapted for the PC or 3DS yet) And that's it, for now. I guess this is the part of the introduction thread where I add a little related backstory about me... I've been playing reading visual novels on and off for half a decade. Because of their length, I've never really had a lot of time devoted to their completion, but I have succeeded a couple of times in the past, namely Key titles like Clannad and Little Busters. I prefer visual novels over kinetic novels as they have choices and thus felt more "interactive", but I've tried my hands on Higurashi and Umineko, and found their well-written stories satisfying enough to sit through entire walls of text without interacting with anything (haven't completed either titles, however). Aside from visual novels, I enjoy watching anime, watching movies, and play the occasional non-VN video games every now and then. I also like chicken, but it's easy to like chicken.1 point

It may sound bizarre, but i'll go with School Days. As dumb as the characters are, it has one of the best choice-making/ending systems i've ever seen.1 point

Out of all the NTR visual novels that Atelier Sakura has, the one that gets picked is the one that doesn't have any kind of netorare behind it, at all. My hate for netorase (yeah, with "s", not "r". Yeah, they're different) has only increased after this. Not that Atelier Sakura has any good netorare title, but at least they have their moments.1 point
