    hi

I 've been wandering for long until I found this place, then I went of to wander some more, and then I came back here. Using this forum only to peek at walkthrougs I cought myself on reading other topics. " Well what those slightly weired, antisocial outcasts who love playing vn's are writing, here cant be of any value." But still I keept on lurking around. After wasting somewhat a bit of my life on playing vn's I realised there really is nobody whom I may speak to about those. Vn's are painfully unpopular in Poland (which is where I live). We have some guys who watch anime, play weired jap games, but for my whole life from all the people I met nobody mentioned that this stuff exists. All my life I was wandering, feeling that there is something missing. Once I played ,lets say, normie games like Life is strange , and some other games by Tell Talle Games I had an inkling of what is it that I am missing. Then came neptunia games. Since I work as an ship's engineer, I travel a lot on board a ship that is. Usually one trip is around 4 months. Yep 4 months of not-so-good-foodie, away from friends and familly, working hard, day or night to keep a tanker going. Fixing engines as big as a house, and also engines that are smaller, this job is kinda romantic you can say. Seeing the effect of your work as a giant ship moving is great. However being closed in small space with the same guys for 4 months is no good. This Is why i liked vns so much. It is a perfect contrast to what I am experiancing everyday at work. People just go crazy somtimes on a ship. That is common knowledge, I think. One time I had a rather bad time during my trip. It wouldn't be too much to say that thanks to cherfullnes of Neptune from Neptunia series keept me sane. I know those games are not pure VN but there is 2D and textboxes so.... Oh God what a chaotic post. I am just saying that this warm and fuzzy feeling while playing a good vn is important to me. I think that games that are all about developing human realtionships, and making all the right choices, just can't go wrong. I noticed I became less weired and antisocial because of playing vn's...huh quite the oposite of what one might expect. I see there are guys like me here . So... Hi everybody, I will try to post somethinng somtimes

    hi

You do that!!! I dont know on what machine are you playing the game but when I was playing it on psvita and pc( with ps4 controller) There was a button to skip all the combat animation ( the button above left trigger or just L on ps vita)making grinding and lvling much much quicker, making battles last only few seconds, and making me look like a maniac, mushing all the buttons in fast-forward . It should make the game easier for you to beat. That was not a wasted time. Neptunia is one of few things that made me laught spontaneously. Its a great read with good jokes and a very positive vibe that makes you laught inside , just a little, all the time. I just hope the next nep-game will be more like the old ones the 4GO is stripped from what I loved most about the series, and live 2D. srsly what the hell?! siema I had no intention to insult anyone. It is quite obvious that we are not the usual crowd. but that is good. Most of the usuall people are worthless and it really takes time and patience to fish out the right ones, whom can be called friends. Thanks for the warm welcome, but i need to go now. My apartment just suddenly turned into a dump and i have to deal with it.

  8. You're much better off just getting someone who knows what they're doing translating it in the first place. Translation checking is a luxury some localization projects have, but at least in fan translations, it's largely there to compensate for the fact that most of the people working in fan translations just aren't very good translators. 99% of the time, if they were passable at translating, they'd get out of fan translation and translate for a living. If the translation is best described as garble, no editor can save it short of going to check every translated line and effectively redoing the work. I think what you're saying here is predicated on a mistaken assumption people often make when talking about localization: that there's some sort pidgin language between Japanese and English (let's call it Fantranslationese). Bizarrely, some people not only believe in the existence of Fantranslationese, but they have even convinced themselves that they prefer to read Fantranslationese over English. But make no mistake: Fantranslationese is not a language, and it does not communicate anything like what the original Japanese did and what a decent English translation would. Fantranslationese is a pale shadow of a language, and an editor can only do so much to fix a "translation" attempting to use it short of retranslating the work because the editor otherwise doesn't actually get an experience like reading the original. Relying on editors to inject flair into a Fantranslationese script means you lost all the flair that was in the original. You're certainly not there yet, but you're well on your way to writing fanfiction instead of a translation, if you go this route. Editors should be polishing a translation, smoothing out rough edges and ensuring consistency. They absolutely should be fixing the translator's mistakes, always with the aid of the translator, because the editor sees the work differently and therefore is going to rarely find translation mistakes due to their different view. This is a given especially because of how ambiguous and context-dependent Japanese is. I never want to work on any project with a translator who believes this.

  9. Just about to graduate, huh. You're quite young. You'll probably have to work a lot in the future to get past your issues. I think an important thing for now is that this chapter of your life will be over soon. Focus on your presentation, try to get a passing grade. You'll never have to see a lot of these people again. Now, I think the bigger issue when it comes to this probably actually lies in your mindset, but I understand it's not something you can change just by being told to change it. I'm not about to tell you these people aren't shitty because I don't know any of them and it seems that you just so happened to hit the lottery of extremely awful people to be around, but in most cases, people won't hate you for existing. Reading over this text, I see you assume a lot of what's in other people's minds, and you tend to assume the most hurtful, destructive things those people could possibly be thinking of at that time towards you. I think before actually trying to socialize with people, you should look for help to properly deal with that anxiety and paranoia, since it seems to cripple you significantly. I'd construct that as good news to you, though, since you've already taken at least some steps towards sharing your problems and seeking help by posting this thread. It's very brave of you, and a good step towards helping yourself. Congratulations. If you haven't already, try to look for help in real life. There are anxiety or depression support groups out there who will be patient and listen to you and your worries, as well as be able to give real advice about this, since the whole situation is kind of unrelatable to me.

  10. With all the new eroge companies being created I want to know what people think about the future of different western eroge publishers, both what you think will happen as well as what you hope will happen. I gues I should just start with what I think will happen with some companies. Warning: There are many Fuwanovel people who probably knows a lot more than me about these companies, do not take this as solid predictions, it is mainly here to start a discussion Mangagame: Continue like normal, bringing us more good titles. Jast USA: Continue like normal, few and slow releases. Sekai Project: Continue like normal, can't really expect them to get much better, they have had many opportunities. Frontwing: It seems like they are improving with how they handle things in general, seeing as how they actually reacted to some critisism they got in regard to Corona blossom. They probably will continue releasing their VNs both in Japan and english at the same time, and occationally translate an old VN from their own library or some other company. Sol Press: Probably keep doing kickstarter for some more VNs or just end up doing it on all their VNs. Seems like they have a good translation staff atleast and manage to keep backers informed. Nekonyan: Probably release decent, but not great translations. Considering the amount of lisences they have we might get a lot of titles from them in the future. Mikandi: Not really sure whether they will continue or not, they haven't had any project since libra other than help promote Newton and the apple tree. Considering the amount of other new companies and their lack of new projects I feel like the retranslation patch might be the last thing from them regarding VN. I might be wrong, I am not an expert and haven't really followed them closely. Fakku: I think they will probably mainly just continue being a store front one could potentially buy VNs from. They are working with Lyricbox, though Lyricbox only have 2 potential titles at the moment. Illusion's games are 3D so not sure how much overlap there is between that fanbase and the typical VN fanbase. Fruitbat factory: Don't have enough knowledge about them. Cherrykissgames: It seems like they are struggeling with their kickstarter, it seems they plan a long future working with Miel and Norn, but I am not sure if they got enough support. PQube: Don't have enough knowledge about them, but I gues they will just continue publishing originally all ages VNs on consoles. Hikari Fields: The backlash from Tayutama 2 makes them give up on english and they just keep being a chinese publisher. Moenovel: Continue releasing Pulltop VNs without 18+ content and be a constant annoyance. What I hope will happen Mangagamer: All their future VNs that are 10+ hours get physical release. Jast USA: More VNs, shorter wait time. Sekai Project: Get worse sales due to their mess ups, after which they start losing licensing parterns and ultimatly leave the VN buisness. Frontwing: That they manage to bring over all Frontwing VNs to the west, hopefully also as physicals. Sol Press: That their translation is good and that they stop using kickstarter, but still provide physical releases. Nekonyan: That they manage to have good translation or we atleast see them improving each title starting with a decent translation. Also that they manage to release all their VNs physically and take over all the licenses SP would have goten. Mikandi: Considering the amount of other VN companies out there I don't feel like they are needed. Also while they are working on imroving their translation I feel like it is too much of a risk having them get good licenses, as such I kind of hope they leave the VN industry. Fakku: Hope they manage to push SP VNs to get mosaics removed as well as sell some SP VNs physically. Fruitbat Factory: Haven't really looked too much into them, so I am not sure what I would hope from them. Cherrykissgames: I am personally not very interested in Norn and Miel VNs. I will probably buy some when there is a large discount, but considering the vndb scores I don't think I am going to end up playing many of them. I gues I still want them to continue though since I don't see anything negative in what they are doing and they seem to want to improve their localisation trough adding things like animation and zoom functions. PQube: Haven't really looked too much into them, so I am not sure what I would hope from them. Hikari Field: The backlash from Tayutama 2 makes them give up on english and they just keep being a chinese publisher. Moenovel: Burn

  14. Yeah!!! Just as expected from superior vn lovers race, a decent amount of stuff that I probably am going to like @VirginSmasher - Looks like this is a list of mustreads, I didnt't finish Suba Hibi yet, the second chapter is just annoying... What's up with weird paint made vns?? That is actually very considerate of you not to dump +20 recommendations on me. We all know this genre takes time. Neptunia FTW I put a Blanc over there as a reminder, since I struggle to write a book for almost two years and it's not going fast. To write and publish something is an old dream of mine. Yep I think Clannad is awsome. I am sure to play Rewrite one day, I read that they are going to release it in English. Cant wait. @Thatcomicguy Thanks for the poster thingy, outdated or not doesn't matter it's going to be usefull @MaggieROBOT Plees dont convert me to BL WTF? but a huge part of me wants to play it thats a serious recommendation There is just so much to read... @Plk_Lesiak freebies , why not

  18. Sekai Project is using kickstarter a lot, that in itself isn't really too much of a problem. The problem is that they have poor communication with both the fans and the developers. They are often not able to answer simple questions like whether a title will have mosaics or not. From what I understand they outsource their translations and as of late haven't bothered checking if the translations were any good or done a proofreading of them to remove spelling errors, or you know translate untranslated lines. They also make a lot of promises that they have a hard time keeping. For example they have had long delays in regards to getting things on ps vita which they have promised on a lot of kickstarters. They are also known to delay their releases by quite a lot. Probably the most notable is their delay is grisaia which was planned to be physically delivered october 2015. This physical edition is still not sent to their backers, though I do think they have mentioned it being this or next month, still quite a while. The last of the grisaia VNs was also released last desember, as you can see these dates are quite far from October 2015. While this is one of the worse cases, their kickstarters are filled with similar problems. Their 18+ page that sells 18+ editions as well as patches also sucks. There is a download limit on their titles, which is annoying and the acces to the games are given trough email and you need to keep the email or email their support to get to download it again. They are also usually slow at releasing 18+ versions as that has lower priority for them. They don't care about removal of mosaic, something that was quite appearant in regards to the Chrono Clock release. Lastly this is more of a personal thing, they don't release physicals outside of kickstarters, which I have already explained to you why isn't a good option to buy the VN from them. These are the main complaints I can think of at the moment, though there probably are more.

  25. Perhaps there is already enough evidence. The one title they did originally release was a right mess. And so, they did nothing after that one. However, after it got onto Steam and got loads of sales for its outrageously low price (for a VN of that size), they started releasing more titles, and have since released three in a comparatively short time span. This is conjecture, but the answer to your question seems to be 'nothing further would happen'.

  28. Fan translation is technically never okay. But companies rarely do anything about fan TLs. There are some rare cases where people recieve C&D letters, even if the game does not have an official TL in the works, and other times where people don't get C&D letters, even when the company does have an official release on the way. The chances of being stopped by the company who owns the game does increase when a parent brand has recieved a localization, however, as the company might want to have more of their titles officially TLed. A case in point of this is the Hanasaki Work spring TL, which got stopped because the title might recieve an official TL down the line. TL;dr: it might be okay, it might not. Do it at your own risk.

  39. Ok, ok....well, I am not a psychologist or anything....and, don't get me wrong, I am not a super expert in life or some sort of guru. So, just take what I'm about to write as some sort of light opinions. I am 23, and I am still astonished about how people keep overestimating the other people around them. People are just...people. Even your parents, this "V" person....the people that keep shittalking about you...they're no better than you or anyone else. I know you feel like you're alone...and you probably are. So what? Make it a strong point. I graduated when I was 18...and, I think, everywhere in the world, the graduation exams is a "kill or be killed" kind of scenario. A little example: during my the first written graduation exam, my ex classmates plotted against me, just because I wasn't there for their non-official meeting in the city where THEY lived. To put it simply: I was supposed to sit in front of the commission, while they were just take the seats on the rear of the class. I just didn't give a damn. During the said exam, I pushed my way to the classroom and I sat wherewer I wanted. They complained. I didn't give a damn. I passed that exam. 14/15. Best mark of the entire class. So, yeah...you'll be alone during your graduation exam. Like each and everyone of us. Now, about the groupwork. -Is it mandatory? (Never know of a "group graduation exam") If it is...well, my advice is: treat people like people. Nothing more. You've been assigned to that group? That's fine. That was not your decision. Have them let you know what you have to do, and just do it. No need to get in good terms with them. It's just work. Nothing personal. No need to get overly close to them. If your problem is about making friends, well... Just wait. I don't have many friends, just a lot of aquaitances. But I know for a fact that, after the High-school period, you'll meet someone with your same interests. that's it. Again, remember: Beign alone has got a lot of bad sides....but a couple of good ones, too.

  40. I think quite a few people in a place like this will relate to some elements of your story. My anxiety actually kicked in during my college years, but I was always a loner and a weirdo. I will tell you one thing, following on what Kaguya said: people in your school might dislike you for being different and surely might misunderstand you, but unless they're all the scum of the earth without the smallest bit of empathy in them, they aren't "disgusted" with you - this is, at least to some extent, your mind playing tricks on you. And if some of them might act like that because of the group dynamics in your class etc., if they have any kind of decency, one day they'll look in the mirror and only feel disgusted with themselves. Also, as Kaguya and Eris said, you're almost out of there, all those shitty people will be a thing of the past in a few months, so what they think of you and how they act towards you is the least important thing on Earth, as long as you get through this project and possibly a few other hurdles. My intuition (it might be worth nothing, but it comes from experience) would be not apologizing (if you apologize for everything it will just make you seem weak and incompetent, believe me, I've been there so many times) or trying to reconcile, but asking for a way of contributing to the project with as little interaction with them as possible. If you have any ideas about the project, start by sharing them. You can't suddenly become likeable, but you can show that you're useful. If you can keep communicating with them without eye-to-eye interactions that get your anxiety kick in, it's also great. If you need effects now, don't try to fight through your limitations, find a workaround. Obviously, anxiety is a disorder, something that has to be dealt with through therapy, but beyond that, you have right to be different. If you one day fully get rid of your current problems you might become a very sociable, easygoing person, but you might as well be still very much introverted and quirky. People's opinions of you, unless you want them to marry you or give you a job, are not really that important. Remember that the main thing that matters is being true to yourself and living the way you see fit. And when you have to deal with assholes (a huge part of our lives), think how to get rid of them efficiently, not how to get on their good side. Anyways, I wish you luck, and I hope that venting here made you feel a bit better, I know it always does that for me.

    Fuwa Confession: I'm lost.

Hey, your problems in high school sound like my problems in high school!! (We're talking about high school, right? Let me know if not!) I have a panic disorder too. It's a huge fuckin pain right?? Here's the good news: You're almost out. All of those people sound like garbage and you never have to see those fuckers again. School can feel like the world when you're concerned about grades and performance -- it's not, you know it's not in the logical part of your brain, and it'll explode into better things once it's over in a few short months. Better yet, regardless of what your teachers might say to motivate you, your success in school does not determine your success in life. Even if you want to continue with school, it's possible to recover from your failures: I dropped out of high school due to mental illness and took my damn time with my undergraduate degree. Now I'm in grad school! Sure fooled them. What ended up really really helping me, and I wish I'd known this sooner, was a very easy drug prescription. Not saying it works for everyone, but for me it definitely took the edge off of all the bad habits I formed after years of verbal abuse by my family and schoolmates and I could form newer/better habits. I'm 25 now and it still takes a lot of work not to assume the worst of people when they invite me out or compliment me. And if your school offers some kind of counseling/therapy, take them up on it! They're paid to make you feel safe. The future is bright. Feel free to talk to me any time!

  42. Maybe I should have waited until it was a full year, but eh, I was bored. And I reached 400 posts, celebration song! I noticed that I'm here in this damn forum for 10 months now, not so much compared to the senpais but still some accomplishment. Hell, I never thought that I would come back here so often, must be some kind of curse. Or maybe, gasp, I actually enjoy spending time here! I could use the time to read visual novels instead, but time management was never my strongest asset. Well well, I was all nostalgic and then I remember that I never did an introduction thread. Until now. But at this point is kinda pointless, because by now, people must be aware of how I really am. Or not, I don't know, not sure if anyone stalks me. I hope not. Anyway, just for formalities, hi, name's Maggie, 24, Virgo, blood type O, Castlevania is my game, Carnival Phantasm is my anime, Pandora Hearts is my manga, steel is my body and fire is my blood. You must have already see me around either doing serious posts about girl games or shitposting in general, so if you remember me for either of those, I'm glad I did my job well and my contribuitions to this site weren't in vain. And it will be on that time that I'll be an important addition to this team. So, with nothing more to discuss, I decided to look back in what I did here in this past year, like a review of myself. So let's see... - I did a lot of VNR troubleshooting back when I joined and saw at least 67 noobs that create an account just to ask why the text didn't appear. Pick the text thread, pick the text thread yo, pick the text thread. I said that so many times, I can make a rap with it; - Why didn't I just ignore them? Because I actually found a fujoshi friend doing it, back in May I think :3 We still talk to this day, every day; - Speaking of friends, I'm glad I found some nice, adorable and slightly weird people derailing threads and shitposting here. So yeah, even shit had it's purpose; - I got myself a harem even; - I think I talk bad about Comyu some 103 times; - And talk good about Shingakkou other 134 times; - Played a lot of free BL and otomeges that I found around; - And 179 new games ended up in my backlog, rip; - Not counting non VN things, le double rip; - Made 248 edits to my posts. What even is english? - My most liked content was in the "realistic romance in VNs" thread. And I just said "No, and that's why it's good". See people, sometimes less is more! Or something... - I saw things... I wanted to unsee things... - Actually, I guess I became a bit more degenerated these last months. It's you guys fault; - I'm also way less productive now; - Joking, I love this place. (Obs: this last one may vary with my mood) Yeeeep, sounds like that was a busy year! I hope to be with you guys one more year! Or be able to free myself from this place and be productive agaaaaaaaaaaaaain! AMA, except my three sizes. And post some pretty boys while you do so, please, thank you.

  43. Too much Moe for me. Seriously 4 of the 5 games are light-hearted SoL, Comedy and Romance VN's. At the first impression they all look like standard moege VN's with a cliche story. I mean it's okay if they want to bring out more VN's to the west but they shouldn't just focus on one type of VN's. It's just like they want to say: "We should just focus on one target-group!" ... In my case I would be more happy with more Drama and less Comedy or a unique Romance VN with a great story. I am not really a Fan of too much comedy without a story or with just a complete SoL & Romance VN where nothing happens till the end. Like I said it's okay if they want to bring more Romance VN's to the west but for the future I hope they pick more interesting VN's. Before we start to think about the future we should wait if the translation is actually good. At the moment I am just interested in Sonoba Witch and Hello, good-bye. In the last few days I started to read Dracu-Riot and I really like this game. Altough I hate Noble Works. But Yuzusoft did actually a good job in Dracu-Riot and I am quite looking forward in their other games. Hello, good-bye seems like a interessting romance VN with a good story.

  44. There's a huge amount of otomeges for Vita! I recommend Code Realize, it's pretty good! The three Danganronpas, plus Ultra Despair Girls, are also there, if you did't played them on PC and like investigation games. On the non VN side, if you like JRPG, there's also a good collection of them, like Persona 4 Golden. I also like to play metroidvania games on portable, like Shantae or Salt and Sanctuary. And if you like rhythm games and weeb songs, there's also Project Diva games and Persona 4 Dancing All Night. Yeah, I also bought a Vita very cheap last year, so I'm still hyped about it, even if it kinda is a dead console XD Enjoy!
