Nursery Rhyme Translation Project

Hi! It's still alive but there are hardly any progress at the moment. Experienced some hard crashes when we were doing the beta testing that we weren't able to resolve. But I am looking into it, probably a problem with the repacker. I appreciate people are still waiting for this. Tbh, I lost any remaining motivation doing this, so yeah it may take more time. Sorry to disappoint mates.11 points -

Finally at long-last, the script is now fully edited! Thank you to everyone who has been looking forward to seeing this patch get completed, which looks to be very close on the horizon now. For the time being, editing of the game's UI, in-game images and video editing led by nReus is still ongoing, but will hopefully be concluded soon (as in, before the end of February). Then the QC process will start where I play through the whole game and test the patch for bugs, along with any fixes to the script I may have missed during the editing process (which usually amounts to 2-3% of the script getting altered, if the last two projects are any indication). And as coincidence would have it, the game is currently 50% off on DMM until March 10, so please consider buying the game if you can and haven't already. The patch will still work with whatever version you have available though, only the encryption for the patch will be different (which will be as easy as copy/pasting the correct files in the patch, which will be specified on release). So I'll be back on the next update.6 points

I won't lie. Burn out is a very really thing, and I believe is the main reason why most VN fan translation patches never see the light of day. But that's something that should almost entirely encompass the translation itself, since (from having already worked on two previous projects) that's the most tedious process, especially if the script is very long. But since I edit my own translations, I am constantly editing as I translate, which makes that process take even longer, in addition to what I'm doing now which is editing the entire script for consistency, typo/grammar fixes, checking translation accuracy, etc. I've been doing stuff like this for a long, long time (even before Studio Frisay was a thing), so I would say I'm used to it, but that doesn't make it any less of a thing I have to put a lot of dedication into. I do it as a hobby, but I still want to put out the best product possible. Sometimes, time off from a project is necessary to finally complete it. And I can say this, once the translation was completed last year, there was no way I wasn't going to see this patch to completion eventually. On a lighter note, everything surrounding Trumple seems to be cursed in general, seeing as how the studio only produced this one game almost 15 years ago. But I'm glad that the game still lives on currently, and will pretty soon live on in English, too.6 points

First of all, sorry for the lack of updates since October. I had to pause the project for a bit, but it is still very much alive and I have been making steady progress on it recently, even finishing the editing for Airi's arc and I'm about a third of the way through Nagisa's arc currently, with 51% of the script edited. I will be aiming to complete the editing process before the end of next month, and then the QC process will begin. So at this point in time, I believe a release of the full patch by sometime in March is very doable and is a goal I plan on achieving, especially considering the extended break over the last few months. I'll be aiming to make some more frequent updates as I complete the editing for each arc in the coming weeks.6 points

masster_auron and 5 others reacted to Tooko for a topic
It took almost 2 weeks longer than I had originally hoped, but now the translation is finally complete after nearly 7 months of working on it. Granted, I had taken a more leisurely approach to the translation this time compared to when I did Imaimo and H2O, but I feel I still managed to get it done in a reasonable amount of time. Suffice it to say, I'm relieved the biggest and most tedious portion of the patch process is now done so I can now move on to editing the game's images, of which almost all that require editing are for the UI, so not that bad really in comparison to the previous two projects. It always feels wonderful when the UI gets done because it feels like an official localization, which is generally what I'm striving for each time I've worked on these projects to make playing the game as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Anyway, in the meantime while I'm working on the images, I'd also like to point out that the game is currently 50% off on DMM for the next two days, and if possible, please consider buying the game. So, I'll be back for another update either this or next month.6 points -

The main thing is that the script is 100% done. Unfortunately, some real world things have taken some time away from the project, but progress on the user interface is still ongoing. There were some additional unforeseen issues with it that made it more complex and time consuming than we would have originally hoped. A lot of the coding and rendering in this game was kind of unusual, in addition to some issues with running the game on modern systems (specifically the most recent version of Windows 11). Hopefully, we can get this all done and release the full patch in May.5 points -
Just a quick update since I haven't done one in a month. The QC of the script is currently at 63% with Kaori's and Airi's routes already complete, and Nagisa's route nearly done, too. The QC should be done by the very end of March, so we're currently aiming to release the full patch sometime in early April. There's still a lot of testing that needs to be done, but it shouldn't be too long now.5 points
-
I'm now done with editing the first Yui arc at 89% complete with the whole script, and less than 4,000 lines left to check in the final arc, which shouldn't take that long hopefully. Finishing up the editing of the images will then be the next priority so a beta patch can be compiled and tested.5 points

Shuffle! Essence+ Translation Project [0.0.3]
masster_auron and 4 others reacted to unclebane for a topic
Title: Shuffle! Essence+ Release date: 2004-01-30 Game/Creator: Navel Description: Ten years ago, the gateway to the Realm of the Gods and the Realm of the Demons was opened. Soon afterwards, the gods and the demons began migrating to our world. Now there are places where gods, demons and humans all study together, such as the school, Verbena Academy. Rin, a normal high school guy who is the envy of guys because he lives with and be pampered by the sweet, beautiful Kaede. It’s just a day like any other when two new transfer students show up in class: Sia, Princess of the Gods and Nerine, Princess of the Demons. Now Rin’s luck is about to change, for he has been chosen to take one of their hands in marriage. Whether down the hall, next door or from another realm, girls seem to be everywhere. Progress: At the time of writing this I just finished making a new engine to run this new translation running on Unity rather than me try to hack my way into a proprietary engine that seems only a few games used, the time wasted on hack my way through it could be spend in actually getting the project done faster. Mangagamer already translated the original Shuffle release and Yumehaven translated the PS2 release of it called "On The Stage" that added the Kareha and Mayumi's route into the game and which they released on Steam as a SFW version of it, their license ran out this 2021 and the game has been delisted ever since. Using those 2 release as basis for what is already translated what is left would be the new girls/routes included in the Essence release (Tsubomi , Sakura, Matsuri, Nadeshiko, Daisy) Who's working on this at the moment? Everything is being done by me at the moment, at the moment I am writing I'm migrating the already translated version into this new version I don't know what else to write at the moment here so I will just drop my discord link in case you want to help out in like anything or just follow the updates of this project: https://discord.unclebane.xyz/5 points -
90% of the patches (from 2005-2018) were done entirely through manual translation with mtl only being used for individual words. This was because it was only recently that some MTL apps/sites/etc could actually translate a complete sentence from Japanese to English coherently. Even now, they can't handle proverbs, colloquialisms, and slang/local dialects, so they are only used for 'rough' first-day patches, mostly on indie VNs. Edit: The reason I feel a need to mention this is because these people put a ton of work into something that didn't get them anything but prestige and has mostly been forgotten in the years since. This is literally hundreds or even thousands of hours of work in some cases, done in people's free time. While some of these fan patches were later purchased by localization companies and retooled for localization, there are still a number of games where my statement still applies.5 points

And now with the editing of Nagisa's arc complete, the script is about 66% of the way done with about 12K lines left to go. Not much else to say other than I appreciate the comments and encouragement to finish this project. It's already been a year since this project began and I'm looking forward to sharing it with others.4 points

Kara no Shoujo Licensed by Mangagamer Summary "I want you to look for something ---- Me. My true self." The year is 1956; a series of bizarre murders rocks the city of Tokyo. Tokisaka Reiji, an ex-cop turned private eye, joins the investigation at the behest of his friend Uozumi Kyozo, a detective in the MPD. At the same time, he takes on a missing persons' case at a private all-girls high school, as well as a mysterious request from a girl named Toko to find her true self. As Reiji frantically struggles to crack the case, he learns that the murders bear an uncanny resemblance to a case in which his own fiancé was murdered six years ago. But try as he might, the body count just keeps rising... Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order Kara no Shoujo is a linear story for the most part; there are no in-depth character specific routes (mainly just H-scenes and endings for them instead). There are many game overs & bad endings, three normal endings, and one true end. True end is accessible upon completing at least one normal end. Route Guideline *Due to the murder mystery nature of this VN, it is strongly advised that you make your first playthrough without a walkthrough! Use this walkthrough only after you get your first normal end to get the other endings that you didn't get! To save you some time from control-skipping, I have included Save Points in addition to the full route guides. The Visual Novel Database ; VNDB.org is a misinformation website
masster_auron and 2 others reacted to Clephas for a topic
Sorry but I didn't find your highly politically influenced argument convincing at all. I suggest you take a step back and recognize that your views are excessively emotional on the matter. To be blunt, please don't bring America's perverse and dogmatic tribal politics onto the forum. You have the right to feel the way you do, but please refrain from trying to 'convince' everyone that yours is the only possible logical argument. Regardless of what 'views' Yorhel and the others might have (which I don't care about one way or the other), vndb serves its purpose of making people aware of new VNs when they come out and retaining basic information on VNs in general. I don't demand anything more of it, and I honestly don't care if they fiddle with tags for random reasons. It's their website and their efforts to maintain it are what have kept it alive for so long. Without vndb, finding visual novels would be much, much harder and more haphazard, like with anime and manga (which have way too many half-assed database sites with horrible structure that makes it hard to find anything). 'Rival' sites don't last long for a simple reason... those sites never manage to be convenient and relatively easy to search even if you don't know an individual visual novel's name. Edit: I should also note that vndb is not primarily or even secondarily a social media site. Ultimately, it is a database where one can (with a sense of moderation and responsibility) post information and reviews for VNs. Treating it like the poisonous swamps that are Reddit, Facebook, and X does no one any good. The social element has its issues, but the bare bones nature of the social features shows how little interest there is in that aspect in the first place. While it is technically a community, it is a community whose focus is on a niche medium of entertainment, not a place for people to rave about political viewpoints.3 points -

All right, it didn't look like @tenshi25 was gonna be updating this thread with my progress so I've decided to do so myself. Keep in mind, this is the Pure x Connect HD edition + honorific version that I'm working on. Without further ado... Both Sora and Ayumi routes have been tl'd and play-test edited by myself. Still needs a proofread by the team and I wanna muck around with some of the sfx + font size (big text/small text lines) engine calls at some point. Next up, I will be undertaking the Shiho route, I'll post again once this is complete.3 points -

It took a bit longer than I had anticipated, but now Nagisa's arc is finally complete, bringing the total script to just about 66% complete. Her arc in particular has 3 lengthy H scenes all in a row right at the very end, so that was partially the reason that it took me a bit longer. But anyway, there are just about 12,000 lines left, and it all revolves around Yui split into two parts, Yui 1 and Yui 2. I'm still hoping to get the translation done by no later than July, so it shouldn't be that long before I get into editing the images and then the script. So I'll probably have another update next month sometime as we approach the grand finale.3 points -

Yui 2 is the true ending and directly continues from Yui 1 storywise. Since it also focuses on Yui, I just called it Yui 2 for simplicity. No poll, only because (if there is going to be a next project) it would have to be something I would already be interested in working on, considering how much time and effort goes into producing these patches. You're still free to make suggestions if you want, since there could be some game out there I'm not aware of that I could deem worthwhile to do a patch for at some point. Crescendo - Old game, still good - 8/10
Infernoplex and one other reacted to LostPomegranate for a blog entry
I originally read Crescendo nearly 20 years ago at the time of writing this review, and I decided to reread it. The only thing I could clearly remember going into the reread was that I got emotional during the first read. Well...it's still got it. I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys a well written pretty believable emotional story. There are some topics touched on that will upset some people. If you're sensitive to the following you may want avoid this VN: moderate to heavy spoilers very heavy spoiler Systems are about as standard as you'd expect from a VN that was released in the early 00's. The OST is actually really good and uses many Scott Joplin classical songs. Voice acting was also pretty good, especially given the age of the VN. Only frustrations really come from it being 640x480 so it's either in a small window or a weird full screen unless you upscale it yourself - which I would recommend doing using something like magpie if you have a larger monitor. The writing here is good with no real lulls in the story, so even though it's a 10 or so hour read, there's not really any wasted fluff reading. A lot of the story is told through flashbacks as the characters recall their time in high school as they (MC and some heroines) are graduating in a few days. I personally appreciated this storytelling method as it also helped give a sense of time passing through the various stories rather than everything just being done in a whirlwind 4 days. Characters are believeable in their motivations and actions, which brings weight to the story. I personally enjoyed every heroine, but they each had their flaws as well, which just made them feel more human. I'm not going to go into the routes themselves in detail as they would be difficult to discuss completely spoiler free. I don't really think there's any obvious outlier routes in regards to writing quality present in Crescendo, all of the routes are well written and have their arguments. For those of you wondering how sad it gets on the nakige / utsuge front to help you decide whether you want to read it: I'd recommend this VN to anyone who likes well written emotional stories.2 points -
Outside of Japan, vndb.org seems to be the biggest information source about ADV-style games and Japanese eroge. Over the years several people have contributed to the website building a robust database. But the website founder who goes by Yorhel, is an extreme narcissist and hypocrite. Recently they have been pushing their personal agenda in form of absurd misinformation in quite a vigorous manner. They have no respect for the artists or the artform, and they'll do anything in their power to suppress facts against them. This includes gaslighting, abusing their position to ban and even delete posts on the website. Some of you might've been keeping up with these certain events, and already have an idea as to what I am talking about. But for those who might be clueless, I'll explain everything in as much detail as I can. It will make this post quite long, but it's better to be clear about everything. First I'll have to explain the pseudoscience of "Gender Identity" or "Gender Theory". Most of you probably already know about it, since it's practically everywhere these days; and some of you will even take offense here. But in case someone doesn't understand what I talking about, I'll explain it. The ideology or theory of "Gender Identity" is a new pseudoscience that has been getting popular recently. This pseudoscience claims that the concept of gender is made up, a "Societal Construct" they call it. According to this asinine theory, the concept of man and woman are merely an object of mind with no connection to material reality. In accordance to this theory; at birth a child is "Assigned" a "Gender", and then they are expected to play the role of the "Assigned Gender"; and that's how people end up "Identifying" as "Man" or "Woman". Simply put, this ideology claims that a person's "Gender" isn't defined by his/her gender (his/her body); but instead it's defined by the stereotype one decides to play. This forms the basis for all kinds of insanity. And people who refuse to play along with this insanity, are said to be committing "discrimination" or "hate crime". The founder of vndb.org Yorhel is a strong believer of this pseudoscience. They have been pushing changes to the website to make it more "Gender Inclusive". Yorhel claims that they are completely unbiased on the matter; their justification for these changes been that western games with "Gender Identity" characters are on the rise, and they only want to represent this new genre. That's a hypocritic lie; a simple tag such as "Gender Diverse Characters" or something along those lines would've sufficed to represent this genre. Instead they want this pseudoscience to be represented in vast detail. They have introduced several new tags for both games and characters, like "Engaged in Group Sex of Multiple Males, Females and at least one Gender Nonconforming Individual". What does that really mean? It means that at least person involved in the act believes themselves to be a different "Gender". So it's the same as saying "Engaged in Group Sex of Multiple Males, Females and at least one Christian" or "Engaged in Group Sex of Multiple Males, Females and at least one Flat-earther". When these changes were introduced months ago, I tried to voice my objection. Yorhel wasted no time, instantly taking down my post. And I mean that in literal sense, they reacted a couple of seconds after I had made the post. I then got into a direct conversation with Yorhel, their intention being to intimidate and lecture me. This turned into a long and infuriating argument that went on for almost two days. (It wasn't a real time chat, we seem to be from time zones so we checked each other's messages at our time) Like I said it was a long and heated argument, I for myself losing my cool after dealing with this for a whole day. I can't mention everything that happened, but I'll try to mention all the important details; while also trying my best to not turn this into a complete rant. And here is link to one of my discussion posts that Yorhel hasn't deleted yet; instead they had immediately locked it right after banning me. https://vndb.org/t22172 During my long argument with Yorhel I tried voicing my concerns as this push will lead to misrepresentation and mislabelling of games. Believers of “Gender Theory” would mislabel several tropes found in anime and manga for sake of their agenda. This became one of the central points in the argument. I’ll explain these tropes in case someone is not familiar with it. Otokonoko (男の娘), also known as Josou(女装); outside of Japan this trope has names like “trap", “tomgirl", “femboy", etc. This is a character trope in Japanese media that’s generally about crossdressing boys. Specifically, it refers to boys who have strikingly feminine features, to a point where he looks very much like a girl. It usually involves crossdressing in feminine clothes to further push this concept of “a boy who looks like a girl”. Either the character himself will have a preference for feminine fashion, or he will be forced into crossdressing in comedic scenarios. Since we are discussing this, this character trope has nothing to do with the pseudoscience of “Gender Identity”. The character isn’t crossdressing because he believes himself to be a different “Gender". Futanari (フタナリ), also known as “dickgirl" in english. This is a fictional trope about females with male genitals. That is, a fictional woman who has a penis. Usually fictional devices such as magic are employed to explain it, or sometimes the character is said to be naturally like that. This is a trope that defies reality in fiction, similar to how a fantasy author may choose to make the earth flat. It has no connection to, and doesn’t adhere to pseudoscience of “Gender being a made up thing". Tomboy; is a character trope that is less obscure than the other two I mentioned; and I assume everyone is familiar with it. It refers to young girls who take on a “Boyish" attitude. It’s a character trope that challenges traditional gender norms, but not in the sense of “Identifying as a different gender if you don’t fit in with the stereotypical women”. During my argument with Yorhel, they kept asserting how they have every right to force their personal beliefs onto these games. They acted exactly how you would expect a narcissist to, pulling all kinds of word tricks and sh!t games. At first they tried to turn the blame on me, telling me to “accept other people’s opinions”. I made myself clear that I don’t care about opinions, especially when they are wrong; and moreover this is about facts. Obviously they followed this with “What facts are you even talking about?”. When I mentioned my concern about works being mislabeled and misrepresented giving the example of Otokonoko, they quickly snapped at me, “As a matter of definition it is". I asked what did they even knew about it, and it turned out they were not at all familiar with the mentioned character trope. I explained the trope in detail, in order to make things clear. But now I get “but there is no consensus on the definition of Otokonoko/trap". It had became clear what motives this person had. But I still tried to reason with them. Getting frustrated I stated the very obvious, these games and characters have nothing to do with the pseudoscience of “Gender Identity” because that was never the intention of the authors and artists. As for what Yorhel had to say about this, these are exactly their words- “Does author intention even matter?” “Shouldn’t it depend on how one interprets it?” (or more specifically how they want to interpret it) This level of narcissism is sickening. This person is straight up telling me that someone’s work isn’t defined by the artists themselves; instead it should be presented in accordance to this person’s will. As an artist myself I took offense over such absurdity. That was a summary of what went down during my argument with Yorhel. They want facts to thrown out, and straight up told me that they have every right to misrepresent and mislabel other people’s work in accordance to their agenda. Like all believers of pseudoscience, they simply want to assert validation of their personal beliefs. And even after making such outrageous arguments, they still had the gall to say that they are completely impartial on the matter. After this I created a new discussion posts, the one I have linked to up above. This is where Yorhel finally banned me with a gaslighting effort. They then quickly locked the post to cut off any further discussion on the topic. And that wasn’t it, a couple of months later I created an alt account to start a new discussion post. This was one final attempt at negotiating a possible middle ground. This post was about suggestions of certain restrictions that would avoid mislabeling whilst still keeping these new tags. The very second this post was uploaded; and I mean it, the very second it was uploaded it got wiped off the website. This told me that Yorhel is now straight up suppressing any voice against their agenda. Yorhel has crossed all lines, proving themselves to be an extreme narcissist who has no respect for artists. Their personal agenda is all that matters to them now. They have already been pushing misinformation, and even suppressing facts. I know how controversial this could be. But I just wanted to dump out what I knew.2 points

You're missing the point. Those rules pre-date your posts on vndb, thus you are the one at fault. Unlike X, where there are hidden rules (basically anything Elon Musk doesn't like gets pushed down, and anyone who opposes him directly loses their verification), the rules are clearly stated. You made the choice to ignore them so you could 'make a point'. There was no conspiracy against you, nor was there a mysterious hidden agenda that you were exposing. You simply don't like certain viewpoints and decided to go out of your way to make a mess.2 points -

Has been a "slow" month for me. Since finishing the Leyline trilogy, I read Shinigami no Kiss, Summer Pockets, Seven Days, Kon's Lessons, reread Noble Works, and read Hatsuyuki Sakura. Out of those I'd really only blindly recommend the Leyline Trilogy to pretty much anyone. Summer Pockets was the best read though, but nakige aren't everyone's thing. Seven Days was surprisingly good for what it is but was very uneven, which was frustrating. Noble Works is standard Yuzu, but not supernatural which is nice. Hatsuyuki Sakura was good, but I feel like it's overrated. It has some pacing issues as well as I felt some overuse of macguffins and in general plot threads / questions that go unanswered. Its music is pretty amazing though, so it still got a 7/10 (good). Now I've moved onto Comyu.2 points -
People still post, it is just that it is more likely to be people asking about technical issues than anything else. I don't like to sit on Discord, because it is too hard to keep track of conversations, and I prefer to just skim static posts rather than deal actual real time conversations. For visits, we still get plenty, because people utilize all the old posts for technical help on VN issues all the time. A lot of the other sites that had that information are long gone, so a lot of VN-readers treat us like some kind of archive for troubleshooting. We do still get people asking for recs, but more and more it is stuff I can't get involved in, since I really only played untranslated VNs after the first six months or so. Incidentally, the amount of bots is probably about ten times what you think. I prune at least ten for every one you report, because most just put their adlinks in their profiles rather than posting threads nowadays. Edit: also the ghost bots that post meaningless and seemingly harmless posts that the bot goes back and edits a month or more later to add a link to. The key for those is that they tend to use real people names for their handles... so newbies, please don't use your real name or something that might be a real name for your handle, because it is automatically suspicious here, lol.2 points

Aiyoku no Eustia Translation Project (Partial Patch is Out!)
TheStupidGenius and one other reacted to anon1234 for a topic
As someone who has finished the game with the leaked patch and who knows Japanese (I can read faster/more comfortably in English though, hence the patch for a story heavy game like this where I can quickly read the unvoiced portions), I don't understand why it's not yet officially released (or at least why a more recent version is not released while the perfect final release is being cooked). Here are the issues I've noticed with the leaked patch (all numbers are estimates, as I wasn't counting): There were only a couple of times (maybe around ~4 times?) when something wasn't translated (as in - the Japanese text was left in the game), and what was untranslated were some very minor, not very significant lines. For all intents and purposes, everything is translated. There were a few times (maybe around ~10 times?) when the text overflowed vertically so the latter part of it was cut off. Not that big of a deal, and it was never in a critical moment. The first two chapters are visibly more polished; starting with the Saint Irene chapter it got a little bit more rough, but it was still fine. The biggest issue as far as translation goes that bothered me were cases where the subject/object of the text was totally wrong, and this happened relatively often (maybe a couple of dozen times? often enough to be annoying but not often enough to be a dealbreaker) and were extremely jarring, so while the text was mostly correct the meaning was completely wrong (e.g. imagine a sentence talking about Caim, but it was translated as if one of the girls is the subject, or the other way around). Looks like those lines were translated without looking at the context? General translation quality was good, and certainly more than good enough (although not perfect - there were plenty of times where I went "huh, that's fine, but I would have translated it in a different way..."; maybe that's what's holding up the release? probably unnecessary though as very few people would notice anyway) The very last ending scene of the game is somewhat broken; is still plays fine, but the text doesn't display correct (at least it didn't for me), so if you can't understand the dialogue from the audio it might slightly spoil the ending. All in all, some minor issues, but great work overall. if you don't want to wait then the leaked patch is good enough to enjoy the game, and you won't be doing yourself a huge disservice by using it.2 points -

Currently reading Heart de Roommate Since last post, I finished SakuSaku's reread, read Secret Agent, Ninki Seiyuu, Majo Koi Nikki, Mashiro-iro Symphony, Mashiro-iro Symphony Sana Edition, Hello Lady Complete, and Koiiro Chu! Kanon is getting an official English release
adamstan and one other reacted to littleshogun for a topic
As for sex scenes, honestly just play fan translation if someone is very desperate for it. That said, it's very understandable people didn't consider Kanon sex scenes are good, especially when there's a patch to remove the sex scenes even back then, which mean there are people who prefer to play old version without the sex scenes. But if some find the sex scenes in Kanon are very arousing, well good for them.2 points -
How do I access unofficially translated visual novels?
rimvydasm and one other reacted to LostPomegranate for a topic
Also worth mentioning: on VNDB if it is machine translated it is marked as such, for example on Aonatsu Line https://vndb.org/v24702 there is a machine translation patch for the trial Switch version of the VN, and a currently in work fan translation for the PC version, the machine translation is very clearly marked. On VNDB you can even set your settings to ignore machine translations, which is how I have mine set as they're almost never edited or looked at in any manner and therefore are incredibly hard to get through. Imagine the worst localization you've read and then double it and you'll get what a MTL is usually like. A lot of times if you can't find the link for the translation patch on VNDB for whatever reason if you ask in the discussions on there, or do some google-fu you'll be able to find it without too much trouble. This is really only applicable to those VN's that were translated by an anon or someone without a group where the google drive / mega / etc. link may be dead. To go into a bit more detail of what Clephas said, the average fan translation takes years, and frankly it's a relatively thankless job they're doing, and I can't say 100% aren't, but the vast majority are completely uncompensated for it. The hours put in are absolutely immense, and the translations are - usually - done by a team of at least 3-5 people who all have other commitments (school, jobs, etc.).2 points -
Recommendations of Visual Novels to Read for Depression

I know this thread is really old, but in case anyone with similar issues is still reading it: Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai https://vndb.org/v14265 and Gin'iro, Haruka https://vndb.org/v18778 are both pretty darn solid pure love slice of life stories. Some drama occurs in both, but nothing crazy, and they're a pretty good distraction and uplifting read really. Fair warning, they are long, even taking me around 55 hours each.2 points
