  1. Pretty sure he's hiding something too. I'm really liking it so far, though.
  2. S;G, huh. Kind of a bad choice- you have this quirky female cast that she's sure not to show any interest to. One problem you can find with VNs is that the heroines are just plain annoying to a lot of woman. If she's into mystery, you could recommend Umineko. If she likes drama, safest choice might be The Second Reproduction, though you can try narcissu if you want to. If she doesn't mind some yaoi and likes romance, Dramatical Murder is the way to go. Boku no Shokora is a fun, cute and very short game that might be nice as an introduction too, if she doesn't want to spend much time on it. SR is a great game, but it's just not interesting to many woman, since well, you have to romance other woman. It's kinda like how most guys would never play dramatical murder, regardless of the story- it's filled with beautiful guys and they're moe, which dsgusts most men. If you want more suggestions I could give them, but I'll leave it at this for now~
  3. Haaaah. Kinda tired. There's no one to give me a massage. The drama of living alone~

  4. I don't know. If she goes the "I was bullied, life is unfair, so I'll just blow everyone up" route it'll make me sigh too. Well, I just think those two make a good pair already. If they're good at what they're doing, there's no way newbie-chan will be able to actually help them ('less she ends up doing social work for them, like seduction and such- which is highly unlikely, since she's the bullied kid). So I'll think she'll most likely go the "their objectives are noble and I want to help, why am I so useless *sob sob*" path. Or maybe the "I'm just a normal schoolgirl who can't do anything, why was I dragged into this? *sob sob*" path. I'd also hate her if she became the cocky type, since she has no experience on what she's doing at all. All of the developments I imagined seem annoying. I just can't see her being a good character in any way shape or form. Though they may find a way to make her decent. Maybe. I agree with the no romance there, it'd be nice if the series didn't have any of that. Plenty of romance already.
  5. I'm watching it. They're probably going to clarify why they are terrorists, right? I disliked the girl. No need for ordinary bullied girl N°001, just serves to make things more annoying. She obviously has no redeeming traits. Maybe she'll become a nice char suddenly, but I doubt it. Besides that, it seems good. I liked the first episode. Definitely has potential.
  6. Depends on the trap, but they can be cute.
  7. Yep, it is. You can be the wisest and most intelligent girl on earth, and you can also have 100000 years- as long as you have an underdeveloped childish body, you're a loli. Smart lolis appear somewhat often. More common in fantasy, where the girl can be a vampire or some sort of magician or in sci-fi, where some sort of youth machine-thing has been invented. But I digress- we're too off-topic, people. If this keeps going too much, I'm cleaning or closing the thread.
  8. I tend to like kouhais. Specially the submissive type. Most heroines just annoy me (I can't find any reason to care about them. Don't like action types, not elegant. Cheery onee-san or childhood friends keep pestering you when you just want to be left alone, makes me feel like blowing up. Imoutos are the definition of spawn of evil, unless they're done in a very specific way. When there's drama, it's always so predictable I just sigh and say "get on with it", so they all fail at making me interested ). Loli is just a body type, it's not related to personality, on which case I don't mind it, doesn't make a difference. Kouhais are generally fine, though. They work so hard to get your attention, it's enough of a reason for me to care a bit. And I like the submissive types that let you think in their stead and order them around. If the protagonist is too focused on combat, having the partner think instead is fine, though.
  9. So, I've read over 300 VNs (without counting nukiges). It's been really a lot, I often find out that most people I talk to here haven't read even a tenth of that. Kind of lonely, actually- there are tons of great VNs I'd love to discuss with people, but I can't seem to find anyone else who has read them. Well, I learned (still learning, I guess) jp because of them. After there wasn't anything translated to read anymore, I had to go after the untranslated ones. I most likely won't use it for anything besides browsing pixiv and reading VNs, but it's entertaining anyway. In the end, VNs are my main source of entertainment. I do a lot of exercise to keep healthy, but those aren't fun, they're just necessary. I've found myself charmed by the way VNs can tell stories. While I do have my complaints about them (for example, way too much romance) they're still pretty fun. So, yeah. They bring me lots of fun, which overall makes my mood better. That's the small impact VNs have every day in my life~
  10. 1, of course. 1-eat pasta tomorrow 2-find 5 cents in the street next time you go out.
  11. I'm all up for the this thread as long as it remains on G&C. Don't think the word "penis" is particularly offensive, so it should be fine. As for the answer- sorry, you'll never know.
  12. Don't think Steve is ever getting rid of Mare in the banner, less he changes it for Shinku or something. The idea is nice, though. It'd be pretty cool.
  13. Any new member can speak, and the importance of his words will be the same as everyone else's. We try to let the best ideas rule- if we enter an argument and you're more coherent about how things should go, we'll do it your way, even though I'm a mod. Aaeru is the creator of fuwanovel- even today, she's still an admin in our list, even though she's not active anymore. Just click the "moderating team" button and you'll see it. We're not that important in the VN scene- we aren't the only site nor the biggest one. Though we try to be different by being friendly at all times (a lot of what happened in this thread is an example of how that can fail sometimes, though) Also, we're really off-topic here. This thread is important, but if we don't return to the discussion somewhat soon, I'm thinking of locking it. Mostly because I believe all arguments have already been said.
  14. Phenomeno. It's a very short horror VN that seemed somewhat nice (not one of the best nor one of the worst), but it ended in a cliffhanger of sorts. It really was a pity, I was liking it when I first read it. Oh well. Otherwise, I generally like the length of the VNs- stories are meant to have an end, after all. Someone talked about muv luv alter above, but to me the ending of that one was more than fine.
  15. Really liked Aldnoah Zero's first episode. Seems promising, I'm hoping for a lot. It's pretty hard to say what will actually pay off at this point, but until now it's my favorite anime of this season.
  16. Well, I just came across the best argument in this thread. Well played. Everyone can go home now, problem solved. As expected of you, zaka. #bankaguyaforderailing
  17. I'd say this argument is invalid. Steam is just good at selling things, as has been mentioned before. It just becomes easier to advertise with it, thus an increase in sales should obviously happen. Instead of that, you should look at their other releases- compare the number of sales between before a game was cracked with a game that didn't need to be cracked at all during the same timespan. Sure, they're different, but the difference is not nearly as large as 5 times more, lol. You should stop using statistics as the art of making the numbers say whatever you want them to say. Either you pick the cold and logical path (on which case whatever we do here won't matter at all- the piracy of those games will not decrease by we removing them from our site) Or you pick the more emotional one, on which case we should stick with doing what our missions tells us to- encourage fan translations and distribute VNs to the entire world.
  18. So the site which used to post the pro-piracy pdfs can't do any piracy. Seems legit. If we're pro-localization, I'm all up for putting those adds on the site. Not like there'd be any legal repercussion and money is what talks, right? Think of it, we're helping them to get their money, we should get our money as well. It's not passion what matters, it's all business. I better get some cash for the time I put here or riot. Except no. This whole thing sounds disgusting. They're free to take VNs already fan translated, tl more 1000 lines, remove H scenes and start selling it if they want to. That's nice and all. The games are still different, though. We don't have the Sekai Project version that is going to be sold, we have a different one with the H scenes and a few scenes less. They're selling it as a different release, we might as well take their word for it. I do believe we should be pro fan translation. It fits much more we the actual beliefs of our creator and what we've been doing up to now, really. Sorry for the sarcasm.
  19. Ah, don't take whatever I say as "the opinion of the staff", please. I'm just running my mouth on my own, as a fellow member here. We want to make VNs popular by sharing them, not pointing at someplace and saying- hey, if you want them, buy them there. Now? You can't really be serious about that, right? Hell, I remember a time where we had a pro-piracy PDF in every single one of our downloads- pretty sure you should remember that as well. There are arguments to the morality of both sides here- we believe in sharing them with everyone for free, money is not involved into it. I belive we had this discussion several times already, honestly. This whole thing feels like deja-vu to me.
  20. Well, I don't think either of us can talk about fuwa's original aim. Only Aaery knows that, and I'm pretty sure she didn't expect us to become this big in the first place. Regardless of that, our motto is not "help more VNs to be produced in the west", though- it's to make them more popular, which only refers to the players, not the companies. Another problem is, you can't seriously expect piracy of these to dimish just by we removing our torrent, right? That's not support, it's idiocy. Anyone can google those VNs up and get 'em in like, 5 seconds. Referring to Steve again here, but I don't want VNs to become like elementary school or such- we're offering them to everyone. We're encouraging fan translation, people doing it because they want to share their own passion with others, not companies- so far it worked wonderfully well, we're getting more fan tls than before~
  21. By offering a pirate version, we let more people who otherwise wouldn't be able to play them actually play those games, which increases the number of fans of that particular series which increases the number of people who will buy the game for support and the game's merchandise. If we hadn't hosted grisaia, a lot of people here wouldn't buy grisaia in the first place, for example. Those who pirate it won't start buying the games because we stopped hosting them, but hosting them can have some positive effects. I'm only quoting Steve here, but: "We are not a promotional website trying to help licensing companies make their money, if that was the case we could have ads on the website and earn tons of money ourselves, just like Nyaa and many other VN/Anime sharing websites do - and when I tell you that the money wouldn't be bad at all even if split between all staff, I mean it. But we don't do that because we are not greedy bastards and understand that the goal is larger than making money (I prefer my struggling to even make a living and pay rent than doing something like that - maybe it makes me a stupid person but at least I feel good about myself xD). And the higher goal is making more people PLAY the games, NOT BUY them. By taking the already available releases away from people we would be doing exactly the opposite. There is no reason to bring up the arguments for why many people cant possibly ever afford to buy the official release. In my opinion fuwanovel should bring the more positive light to the world that not everything is about money. Encourage fan translators to translate for free, make them feel like sharing the game they read and loved with others for free. Let everyone try and play those games however they want, everyone have equal changes to get into discussion about them. Not be like what elementary school used to be, when those rich kids were discussing their Playstation consoles and all that most families couldn't afford. Or like that high school where people were discussing their gifted motorbikes that most of us couldn't afford. And so fuwa is different, everyone no matter where they are from or what school they attended can enjoy the same games and discuss the same stories. You can be a Chinese guy with some old PC connecting through a hole in a school firewall (although in that case they would probably choose from the chinese sites and translations, but we've had few chinese talking here on forums) or you can be a doctor in the US or you an be an average studying east European, maybe starting some new jobs. You can be whoever and still receive the same treatment here and same free games as everyone. And same way you can be any of those and try to help to spread the games to more people, fan translating the titles from Japanese for more and more people to enjoy." So yeah, I'm against removing those torrents. You may still be able to convince the people who deal with the main page, though.
  22. Welcome to fuwanovel! Hope you have fun here~
  23. I'll play it for the lulz, if it's ever finished. Seems amazing, best VN. I'm putting it on my top 50 VNs list, people.
  24. Do we really want to discuss this again? So much talk happened on this already. Make a new thread to talk about the whole thing if you wish, but don't derail this one, people. Fuwanovel's policies are not the topic here, grisaia's official release is. It's nice that more VNs are being officially released, though. I'm not one to buy VNs, but maybe I'll do it this time.
  25. Good, we need more official translations here. I wish them good luck~
