Clarification: I meant that I was already done downloading everything I was interested in. Confession: I like the True/False thread better than the Confessions thread.

What are you trying to say here, Rooke. Do you mean you don't pronounce "graphic" just like the word "giraffe", but with a k at the end?
-
It is objectively correct that GIF is pronounced "jif", of course. It's basically a brute fact.

Confression: Because of recent events, I'm actually putting my 100mbps of bandwidth to use. Oh, no, wait, all the torrents are done already, nevermind.

What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?
Fred the Barber replied to solidbatman's topic in Gaming Talk
I couldn't get into Dragon Age: Origins at all (I tried), and then I played Dragon Age 2 and loved it. Inquisition is waiting for me, but I never make the time to play it... -
Maybe this is naive of me, or maybe I'm just attributing a "to the exclusion of all others" to your quotation which you didn't intend (though it certainly seems implied), but I find it hard to believe that "VN players with a wheelchair fetish" is such a high-dollar market that anybody would consciously design a commercial VN (or even a route in a commercial VN) around that single, specific fetish.

False, but I guess I could introduce you to my married older brother if you're truly desperate. Next person is trying to decide what to read next.

Shin Sekai Yori is on my backlog. Definitely looking forward to it, but probably won't get to it for at least a couple months... for now, it's one episode of Non Non Biyori per day. Episode 5 was not as cute as 3 or 4, but I guess I can't reasonably expect them all to be front-runners for cutest thing ever.

10/10. Damn.

Extremely false. Next person is person before last.

MegaTokyo is definitely interesting, though I assume most people here know about it already given the culture overlap - the artist is clearly hugely into visual novels. I stumbled across it a couple months ago, I think because it was linked to or mentioned by a Kanon wiki. I binge-read 15 of them once a week or so, so I guess at that rate I'll be caught up in ... somewhere around three years. Hmm. The artist clearly gets into slumps and goes long periods without posting (or at least he used to, but I get the impression it's still an ongoing thing), which is a bit of a downside... But on the positive side, he's working (with a small team) on making the whole project into a ridiculously over-ambitious Visual Novel. The kickstarter for it was massively funded a year and a half ago, so it might be out within the next few years. Maybe. Oh! And he does twitch live streams of him drawing, which can be pretty interesting if you're interested in that side of things.

Why do I only post in this thread immediately after Funyarinpa/10

Reply hazy try again. (You know, I don't remember it, but I feel like that might have happened some Halloween night in the distant past.) Next person has always wished their avatar was a bit... "bigger". Just a little bit!

Someone else who uses the speechless stick figure guy image macro! I feel like I met my twin today. I mean, I work on a closed-source software product for a living, but that's ok, we can still be friends, right? Right? ... Well, hopefully we can at least be bad artist buddies.

While I've no doubt that many VNs fit that mold (what you gave is probably only a slightly unfair assessment of KonoSora's branching, for example), I can easily think of at least some excellent VNs that don't work that way. I would say that most of the VNs I've played at least use the "which heroine did you choose" decision fork to tell you a completely different story for each one, and that alone makes your claim unfair. Moreover, several of them have additional stories beyond the heroine routes that are unlocked once you play enough. Of the small number of VNs I've played, Rewrite is the perfect counterexample to what you describe: not only do you get a completely different story line depending on the heroine you choose (the only similarity between them is the setting of time, place, and main characters, really), but once you've completed the five heroine routes, you unlock further, interesting extensions of the plot that aren't tied to a heroine choice.

False. At least, nothing really came to mind immediately, and that would seem to be the definition of memorable, right? Next person complained about the weather within the last 24 hours.

I was going to say that I don't think Arena is a good game, but in retrospect I actually just don't think I'm qualified to judge it, since I'm terrible at fighting games. Maybe in that scene it's considered good. I did rather enjoy playing it, just for getting more time with characters I liked, but that certainly doesn't make it good; there are plenty of terrible things I enjoy. Q is definitely debatable as well. It has its moments, but it drags a lot, especially when it comes to advancing its own story.

Does Guilty Crown get good? I started it mostly for the soundtrack (because Supercell is amazing, though I prefer the first vocalist [first real vocalist, not Hatsune Miku, ... though vocaloids are fine too] over the most recent one...), but was pretty disappointed by the first episode and didn't stick with it. I kinda got this vibe that it was going to be pure action + fanservice, with just enough plot to give an excuse to throw out more action and fanservice. Which didn't really sound like my cup of tea. I'm still watching Non Non Biyori. I was on the fence after the first two episodes, but after the third episode I've decided it's probably the second-cutest thing I've ever seen, behind K-on!, so I'm pretty excited about the rest of the season.

Welcome! Just a word of caution on those recommendations above... having just finished Kanon a couple months ago and being in the middle of Katawa Shoujo now, I can say that Kanon's common route is substantially longer than Katawa Shoujo's, and that Kanon common route really starts to drag on by the time you go through it a few times (yes, even if you're skipping a lot). It's still a good VN, though In general, this great post is perfect for getting the lay of the land for English-translated VNs: https://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/topic/2151-50-translated-vns-you-should-read-before-you-die/. To pick one recommendation, I'd suggest Rewrite, if you're up for something longer, since it has a big plot and deep characters.

All too true. Next person was the inspiration for the song Dancing Queen.

I think the only VN I've ever dropped was Clannad, and that was because 1) the translation had weird mistakes that were starting to get on my nerves (the third or fourth time I saw "Tomoya-kun" translated as "No valid string, file a ticket", I pretty much lost it) 2) suddenly the game bugged out and the music stopped playing completely The second one (and it was not temporary - I played through maybe 30 minutes, saved/loaded, etc., still no music) was such a creepy experience that I couldn't handle continuing to play the game. As much as I really like and appreciate OSTs when listening to them separately, I didn't notice how much they mattered to the game execution until that moment. I'm sure there will be other things as I try playing more VNs - if I ever get around to starting it, I won't be surprised at all if I end up dropping Muv-Luv, since I suspect it's going to be a bit too intense for me.

False. And I couldn't even find it with a search engine, unless it's the Moro Islamist Liberation Front? Anyway, next person should really be doing homework, not posting on Fuwa.
