  1. I picked up Rokka no Yuusha today and marathoned the first 9 of 12 episodes (it was a very long cooking session...). Pretty good stuff. I like the way the plot nicely mixes an action/adventure story with a mystery, and I'm finding the characters by and large very enjoyable, especially Flamie. By the way, Flamie is obviously best girl; sorry @Nashetania.
  2. - The laser rifle also seemed to have much lower TU cost% vs. the regular rifle, for the aimed shot - if I'm understanding correctly, I think that means the regular rifle is indeed more accurate on the aimed shot, but costs a lot more time units to use, so it's kind of a tradeoff (but probably a tradeoff in favor of the laser rifle, like you said). - I genuinely thought you were joking when you said you had no idea where Siberia was, until you sent the scout ship to a weird place. - RIP Stray Cat. Kind of saw that one coming given where you put him, though... - In the early game, I appreciate you playing me conservatively as requested and not sending me out in to the middle of the field where I would surely have died. Later in the game, well... let's just say I saw my early death coming after that earlier quotation, which I will not hesitate to bring out again: - Nice shot, Camouflaged Sausage - but not surprising, given how OP his original form, Triple-Kill KosakiFag clearly was.
  3. I hear you, I can't believe people want to get paid for their work rather than get served with a cease-and-desist order. What's the world coming to?
  4. It's hard to tell where the lies end and the truth begins. I'm still unclear about how it's supposed to be pronounced. In other news, I decided I was intrigued enough to pick up XCOM 2 on Steam just now.
  5. Looks like Kosaki has finally been... Eclipsed
  6. Well, at least now I know how Tiag really feels about me.
  7. Also, thanks, both of you, for explaining - I somehow didn't make the connection to how I triggered the route. ┬─┬ ノ( ゜-゜ノ)
  8. That was actually a lot of fun to watch. I've never played any XCom before, but I have a friend who's a very enthusiastic player, so this helps me relate a bit to that, and makes me want to give the game a try myself. If you're short on soldiers, feel free to make a soldier named Fred with the following preferences: 1) a strong tendency towards caution 2) heavy user of items, especially to increase the probability of not getting hurt/shot/killed 3) mostly uses rifles (generally no explosives) If you've got plenty of people already, or more enthusiastic people, that's cool too.
  9. I landed on Suzuha's route, thankfully, and just finished it: All that said... I'm still table-flipping mad about how the routes work, so let me just throw out what I'm considering doing for my next playsthrough (yeah that's right, that's how I just pluralized that word), and you folks who know better can tell me whether it's merely a bad idea, or a downright terrible idea: Obviously when I'm done with everything but the true route, I'll just go look up a guide, but I'd like to hold off on that for now if it's reasonable.
  10. Can I place a bet on which one is definitely not going to happen? One of these things is not like the others.
  11. Ren already voted twice in this poll - clearly we should ban Kurisu-chan for allowing such a travesty to occur in the first place.
  12. This is quite possibly the least convincing evidence for an argument that I've ever seen. Kudos!
  13. Missed this thread the first time around... incidentally, the SD version looks so different that I didn't even realize : miyako : was Majikoi's Miyako. I think at one point I even briefly googled around trying to figure out what other Miyako it could possibly be. Naturally, admitting my ignorance publicly was not an option.
  14. I wrote a nice reply and then the forum software ate it . This one is more relevant anyway: From my (admittedly limited) observations, long VNs which are perceived to drag by some people, but are perceived by other people as very good, tend to use most of that "slow" time to help the reader bond with the characters. After all that time spent doing slice-of-life things, such a VN will then take you on some largely emotional journey with those characters, the goal obviously being that that emotional journey is made more impactful because of the bond formed earlier. These VNs tend to be more about the characters than the plot; any of the longer Key VNs makes a good example of this approach. On the other hand, heavily plot-oriented VNs don't have a need to do this, and a good one will tend to be faster-paced as a result. I'm currently in the middle of Steins;Gate, which is pretty long but doesn't hesitate to keep the plot moving; it doesn't drag at all, for me. The couple of Steampunk series VNs I've read (Inganock and Gahkthun) also seemed fairly fast-paced to me. That said, my tolerance for character exposition slice-of-lifey stuff is very high, so I'm probably not a good barometer for this. At any rate, the only thing you should be worried about is making sure your goals are achieved. It sounds like you're mostly plot-focused, so I'm sure you have that covered. But if forming a strong emotional bond between the reader and the characters is also important to you, that's the part that's a little more at risk, so take steps to make sure that's working out with the way you've written it. I'd strongly suggest having some uninvolved people review and tell you whether specific aspects, like that, work for them or don't, before releasing a demo. Demos tend to get taken pretty seriously as being representative of the finished product, especially with regards to non-technical aspects. For better or worse, people will forgive a demo that's slow or buggy, but have a much harder time forgiving one that's poorly-written. Regarding voice acting, good voice acting can certainly help with building a strong identity for characters and increasing their emotional impact, but bad voice acting will hurt even more than good voice acting would have helped, and your costs will probably increase substantially either way. So, be careful with that one; as long as you do it well and can afford it, I think it's a good idea, but just be aware that it's a risk.
  15. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
  16. Sorry, @Rooke, I refuse to submit to your whims. I gazed in astonishment, and I preordered, but I will not play the trial because why bother, I already know it's going to be great.
  17. I lose this round
  18. Haven't been there. Don't want to do that.
  19. All feathers I got were from the same duck. She's been at 5 hearts for a while. I think she's dropped at least 3 feathers for me so far. Perhaps you're just unlucky. Incidentally, your duck is female, as are all your chickens, cows, and goats. Please do not call any of them "him"; it makes me sad, and it probably makes them sad, too. I keep buying new chickens, and they keep growing up to be brown. I buy them one at a time, thinking "surely this one", and then no. You're clearly right: I should just buy enough to fill the coop in one go, and then sell the ones that are the wrong color. I know, I know, I sound like a white chicken supremacist, but the game made me this way!
  20. Have to disagree there; Date A Live is terrible. Kotori was rather compelling, and that was it; nothing else was remotely worth watching.
  21. I need another rabbit foot, to ship, as well... but fortunately I'm all set on duck feathers already Incidentally, are there white eggs? I could swear there are supposed to be white chickens that lay white eggs as well as brown chickens that lay brown eggs, but for the life of me I only ever get brown chickens when I buy them. There's an obvious gap in my "shipped" tab that I think corresponds to white eggs and white large eggs, and it's really bugging me.
  22. I guess I'm really orienting myself towards the achievements right now, which shouldn't require any further income but which do require more time spent on lots of other things. Fruit trees just don't provide enough income to merit the time spent on them. Convenience of large income is more interesting, so that I can spend the vast majority of my time fishing, mining, whatever. But I guess whether the kegs go in there or outside probably isn't much difference, since you're right in pointing out that I'm not hurting for farm space by a long shot either. I guess it comes down to the fact that harvesting trees every day (or every 3 days, perhaps?) would probably just annoy me; my current plan is actually to chop down all my fruit trees, sell off all my livestock, and start aligning harvest dates and whatnot as much as possible, just so I can minimize daily farm maintenance.
  23. I've been planning to give The Division a try, but between one thing and another I haven't gotten around to it. Maybe some positive feedback would help me get the requisite motivation. What do you like about it? For reference, I'm mostly playing Destiny for both my FPS and my MMO fix right now, which is a pretty powerful combo and which helps me keep down the amount of time spent on those things, since I only play a few hours of Destiny a week.
  24. I'd been planning to put all my kegs there. Debating whether to do that or to follow your strategy... admittedly I do still rather like the idea of using the space distortion field of the greenhouse to contain lots of kegs, so that they don't consume precious farm space, so I'll probably end up going that way.
  25. Sorry, let me clarify: my mind is 100% blown by the fact that you could put a tree there at all.
