I've been hearing about this curse for a while. Is there something about August works that makes them less likely to be completed, Or is it just an inexplicable series of unfortunate events that leave them unfinished?

Apparently I am better at willing suspension of disbelief than most everyone because I had no problem with Michiru's set-up. I'm also apparently not as attentive a reader, cuz I don't remember it being retconned in Meikyuu. (If the retcon is in the after stories, then I wouldn't be surprised I missed it, seeing as I pretty much skipped those). I just did a cursory search of the matter in Japanese and found 0 discussion on it. Heck, I barely see anyone that has a problem with her initial set-up in the first place.

I read manga more extensively than any of their other media, but the ones I've truly thoroughly enjoyed were probably books.

I'd recommend Seishun Rikon (Springtime Divorce). It's an anthology containing three stories, the title work of which is about a boy and girl who happens to have the same, uncommon last name. Due in part to teasing from the sidelines, they develop a relationship much like a pretend husband-and-wife as they bond over a smartphone app the boy is developing. As their time at high school draws closer to the end, however, their bond is strained over matters of the app, family, and their relationship. On November 22nd, The Day of Good Spouses, the two gets 'divorced'. This little anthology contains three loosely-related, heartwarming short-stories grounded in modern media. The first is over a smartphone app, the second on what's basically twitter, and the last on a blog. Due to the gimmicks used in the story, too, I think these stories are rather easy to relate to for we who live in the current age. You can get a feel for the story through the title work's manga adaptation, too, if you're interested. The art is by HERO.

For me, GnK was good because its common route had me laughing at my hardest in a loooooooong while. I also loved Makina and Yuuji as characters. Makina's ending creeped me out, too.

I could italicize or bold it but it was just easier for me to put it into quotes. I personally read 自分 as any individual, or the concept of the individual, and not as a particular individual. The term is not being used by the speaker so much as a reference to himself, but as a contrast to 他人, others. I went with the 2nd person because doing something like "one seeks others so that one can be one's self" and stuff is just... IDK. Unexpressive. It should be noted that it's used pretty poetically here, imo. Such level of repetition only occurs where the parallelism is desired, even in Japanese. One of my favorite passages from Qualia the Purple works this way.

Personally, I would leave it out in the translation. What people seek in "it" differs with each person. Some seek in it a place where they belong. Some, a vision of happiness they've yet to see. Some, a signpost for these unmapped roads. Still some, an innocence, for reasons uncouth to question. -- Just as we seek others that we may know ourselves; We seek their happiness that we may find our own. edited with below discussion in mind.

Funny how the works I want to see translated are generally not the most famous works by said companies. I probably can't even name 10 companies off the top of my head, so these are in no particular order. Pulltop - Harukani Aogi Uruwashino was one of my first VNs, and still one of my favorites. Giga - A long line of decent games. Haven't actually played anything from Baldr Sky though. Age - Kimi ga Ita Kisetsu, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien Light - Tapestry, Sakashiki Hito ni Miru Kokoro/Don-chan ga Q/Magino Complex. Once again, nothing from Dies Irae series. Liar-soft - Okujou no Yurirei San Flat - I liked Hikoukigumo no Mukougawa way more than I thought I would.

I'm surprised KimiNozo doesn't have a translation to this date. I'd like to see Haruka ni Aogi, Uruwashino translated. Okujou no Yuri-rei san, as well.

Kira Kira Normal End is probably the closest I've come to depressed.

Just the other day, on one of my frequent trips to a used bookstore, I came across Iono-Sama Fanatics. I had totally forgotten about the series until now, but I'm pretty sure that was the manga that got me started into this genre.

Thank you, though I'm ashamed to say, I have no stories to tell, in any of the languages I'm capable of :/

I think dowolf has it correct, though that is one painful sentence to parse. 公式で対応してしまうと This part is pretty easy, right? "If we answer these demands officially," そういう会社としての判断にならざるを得ないし・・・・ This segment is related to the first segment above. そういう is also a reference to "answering the demands". It basically says that "answering the demands" is a "decision/judgment of the company". My interpretation then, is that combined, these two segments mean something along the lines of: "If we are to answer these demands, it would have to be a decision on the part of the company". Edit: As relating to the sentence following it, he's basically saying that the company doesn't want to make a decision on the matter. If the company were to answer the demands, then it risks getting into international trouble. If the company were to deny the demands, then it puts pressure on the users who make their own outs to the matter. He would much rather have the company neither answer nor deny the demands, leaving the matter ambiguous and letting the users do what they will in the dark. Edit2: I feel like I keep stating the obvious. Let's just say my point is that the sentence in question says answering the demand will force the company to make a decision. He later goes on to say this (the company making a decision) isn't desirable.

Personally, I'd probably go with something like "without approval" there. I also think you can safely leave out 取り上げられて. 過去に日本のエロゲーは、一部卸業者に勝手に国外に持ち出されて、販売されて、それが取り上げられて国際問題になって、相当国内でもいろいろあって・・・　それから　わざわざ日本国内販売only　JPonly　と書くことが義務付けられたのだけど・・・ In the past, certain distributors brought and sold Japanese eroge abroad without approval [from the makers?], and it became an international problem [scandal?]. I suppose I will go with Sodomy here, since you will inevitably be the one checking it, dowolf. And I have another one. おは幼女 A pun between Ohayou and Youjo. A good-morning combined with a tease involving lolicon. How do you make this happen -.- And I'm nowhere near close to it yet, but I know I'm going to have a hard time, so: At one point, Yamato has to cross a forest, and he has a few paths to choose from. One of the paths names something that's dangerous, but becomes not dangerous if you use a pun with its name. (In the game, it's Dokugumo (poison spider) -> Doku kumo (spider that gets out of your way)). I need help coming up with something else that can replace this, and it must make sense in a forest. (Or maybe not. Some of the choices are really weird).
