Just finished my first route in AkaGoei2, Akemi's. Oh my god, that last day was pure badass epicness... I haven't read something this good in a long time. There's no doubt now, Kaito is the most badass MC in anything I've ever read. Also that OST during the action scenes, that was almost getting me on Umineko levels of BGM hype. I'm already looking forward to the other routes.

As if Michiru's route wasn't stupidly magical enough already....I will read this.

Took a quick break from AkaGoei to finish Amane's route in Grisaia no Meikyuu. As bad as the h-scenes were, the rest was beautiful. The comedy was great, and that epilogue made me tear up a bit. That said, there wasn't really anything new in this one, mainly because of how the route ended in Kajitsu - though I have a feeling the rest of the after stories won't be much different.

You'll lose the details concerning Makina and her family, but as for Yuuji related things, not really. It'd be a shame to skip Makina's route, though. Even if you don't like her, the route is still worth it - it was my favourite one right beside Amane's. It's like Yumiko's route, but actually well written, with Yuuji being appropriately badass.

Ended up replaying (skipping through) what I read of AkaGoei2 because I've gotten the Trinity version instead. I got to the part I was on before - or at least I thought so; seems like the choices work differently, or the vanilla version I had was broken, since except for a single choice that probably had nothing to do with this (all the way back in the Nanjou mansion), I've picked all the exact same options, yet I got locked out of one choice, and then instead of going to the trip, Kaito stayed behind. Oh well, I guess the vanilla version was faulty, because in both playthroughs, I've been hanging around Akemi whenever I got the chance, so staying behind makes more sense.

Oh, I just realized it's an official release. Found something on nyaa, so I'm trying that. Though since I already finished one VN and a good chunk of the common route in the other, skipping all that just to get to where I left off could be a pain. I'll do so probably only if there is an awesome difference in the HD release. Though I will definitely read the fandisc, thanks for the tip! EDIT: Ok, only a minute in, and I already like this version better. It's not even as much the widescreen as it is the simple fact that the hook doesn't split the lines like in the original, so I don't have to go in the log with every single line. Awesome, thanks for pointing this version out! Since you can pick titles, looks like I'll only have to somehow skip through what I read in the last VN. EDIT2: Is there any more information about Kaito's past beside the prologue in the fandisc? I went through Reika's/Kyoka's route because I figured that's where Anzu would appear, but there wasn't really anything in there - and I don't feel like reading the rest of the routes just to see if there is anything, at least not now.
-
Oh, uh.... I'm already at the sea trip part of AkaGoei2 and I haven't even touched the fandisc yet, since I assumed it was irrelevant.... what should I do? :x I thought the stuff surrounding Anzu would be explained in this VN. Also, you really got me interested in the reverse PS3 port, where can I get that? I'm reading the regular PC version.

Getting close to the trip in AkaGoei2. It's almost not funny how happy I get each time Tsuki makes an appearance, still the best girl, even if she doesn't have a route this time. Her seiyuu got better too. Nothing too crazy happening in the story right now, but the comedy is top notch as usual. That "NTR game" had me dying, I couldn't stop laughing during the whole scene... out loud, too. Hooray for Sachi, she has probably the most touching god ending. And yeah, she is adorable... I really need to check out her route in Meikyuu just to see what that's like, still did only most of Amane's.
-
I'm really not sure. It's worth reading if you like cute girls and romance, but I wouldn't eagerly recommend it. Out of all the routes, just very few were interesting for me; perhaps the worst part was that there was a character route easily better than the actual true route at the end. The story itself is sweet, but get ready for some ridiculous deus ex machinas just for the sake of a good ending, no matter how little sense it might make. At least the characters are likeable for the most part, and the art and OST are both very nice. The story itself isn't that great, though.

As much as I like Higurashi, the existence of the PS2 version alone prevents me from recommending the original PC version... so I'd say go for Umi! Or Grisaia, both are amazing.
-
(AkaGoei spoiler) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO--- how could you do this to me.... curse you, unlockable routes!!!!! Blocking me off from the route I wanted to do first, I got trolled hard. Though I guess I should be glad, it'll make me save the awesome things for later, but still.... aaah

Haha, looks like I will have fun replaying that scene. I picked "window" just because I thought it was going to be something like the room investigation in the first one, where you eventually went through everything anyway - and then Kaito just ended up looking at the window all day.

AkaGoei2 is so good so far. I think I'm getting to the part where Kaito should return-- about time, that Ryou guy really needs the shit beaten out of him. I see that they're not only good at making likeable characters, but they're just as good at making despicable ones... I hate him so much. On an unrelated note, I love the 4th wall breaking humour. I almost died when Kaito goes: "I'm so bored, maybe I should just come up with random choices and let god decide. Do you want few choices, or a lot?" So I pick 'a lot', and then the first choice on the list because... well, there really was a lot - and then I got yelled at for picking things just because they're right on the top. :D Hey at least they still look really hot-- wait, rape zombies? Oh.... oooh.... well... now I don't know how to react to it.

Umineko is bad compare to Higurashi?(no spolier please)
Vokoca replied to sion12's topic in Visual Novel Talk
We were talking about Kakera Asobi, which doesn't have an translation (it has a different structure from the original - there are choices and routes instead of separate arcs, and there are completely new arcs as well), and frankly.... what MG released before couldn't even be called a translation. Hopefully the re-translation doesn't butcher the original writing again. -

Then you might be happy to know that the PS2 remake doesn't have that ending arc at all, it has a completely different one instead. -

Enjoying a DEEN anime more than the source material... what has the world come to? -
You're saving yourself a lot of stress and headaches. Just keep waiting, it's much healthier.

You can always start learning Ja--- I'm just kidding. Though if Kajitsu is anything to go by, we should have Meikyuu relatively soon, and in awesome quality. Even if the whole thing wasn't translated, the Grand route is about the only thing that really matters, the rest is just fandisc-esque stuff.

Just a word of warning, from what I've read of Amane's route in Meikyuu, the gross things continue. :/ It's funny though, because Grisaia was probably the first VN in which I felt the h-scenes were well written and didn't feel out of place at all. Though I'd guess the weirder things will mostly just apply to Amane, because of her... circumstances.

Umineko is bad compare to Higurashi?(no spolier please)
Vokoca replied to sion12's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Umineko takes the concepts born in Higurashi and advances them much further - in that way, it is a much better and more complex story as a whole. That said, the two are completely different when it comes to the direction in which the story goes, just keep in mind Umineko is more of a spiritual successor than a direct sequel. As for myself, while I preferred the mood Higurashi has, Umineko's story is much more intriguing. Unlike Higurashi, you can't really judge it based on a single episode, as it is much more linear and connected than Higurashi was, so I'd recommend not giving up just yet. -
Grisaia no Meikyuu Translation Started
Vokoca replied to douggle's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
There's no Dave route. There actually are no conventional routes in Meikyuu - it is set up like a fandisc. When you start a new game, you're given the option of viewing one of the many scenarios - you have the continuations of all the heroines' routes from Kajitsu, then you have the Grand route, which continues directly where Kajitsu left off, only assuming that Yuuji didn't involve himself with any of the heroines on a personal level. This is the route that deals with his past and the main part of Meikyuu. Then there is a collection of H-scenes featuring mostly side-characters, which is the "Dave route" you thought of; its just named after him as a parody of a TV channel. Lastly, there's a collection of short funny stories. I've only played a bit of everything in Meikyuu since I'm saving it for later, but I think that's all it has to offer - no idea how Rakuen works, though! -
Aww, I had the feeling that'd be the case. That's a shame, but then again, she had a route in the first one already, so having the routes in the sequel all over again wouldn't make much sense. Edit: Just got to the opening. Oh my god, talk about building tension! How am I supposed to stop reading and study after all that teased epicness? Also I already absolutely hate this Ryou guy.

I'm still just on the 28th, but whoa, the setup is intense! These scenes from different perspectives are an amazing addition - I'm enjoying AkaGoei2 far more than the first one already. And Tsuki is better than before too... what more could I possibly want? It all depends on how the routes and conclusions will be like, of course, but if this keeps up, I can easily see this getting a full 10 from me.
