Gameinformers Introduction to VN's.
Darklord Rooke replied to LiquidShu's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I should point out that 80 Days is VERY close to a visual novel, the only difference is it uses flavour images instead of images showing off every scene. This relegates it to "Interactive Fiction" status, a sister genre to Visual Novels. And considering how a lot of people mistake dating sims and VNs, I can forgive him this. It's VERY highly regarded btw and has won a number of awards recently. I have no problems with him recommending this title, I would also recommend fans of visual novels give it a try :3 -
Gameinformers Introduction to VN's.
Darklord Rooke replied to LiquidShu's topic in Visual Novel Talk
A good portion of the people experienced in the genre don't even know what a visual novel is Coverage is coverage though, can't be picky. Categorising games by content is something I would never get used to. Seems useless to me. -
I was going to suggest you receive a “congratulations, you operate outside the system – how COOL is that” award. Unfortunately if you operate outside the system, well, then you can’t be awarded it Maybe it means 500 posts outside GD or the Other Discussion board? (This is just a wild guess btw.)

Azumanga Daioh, a great comedic slice of life. I watch it whenever I feel stressed, it's just a great way to lose tension :3

RL always takes precedence, and it's good to take a break from the internet (or internet communities) every once in a while. Good luck out there.

You should get a lackey, then you can dump all those unwanted tasks onto them.

Hey Rin. The Recognition Team lead went to a member who was not previously staff (congrats again Rose.) The other member Tay was considering also wasn't previously staff so... The other two jobs were LC specific roles, you obviously needed to already be a part of the LC to be considered. Most of the recent jobs created by Tay have gone to ordinary member of the forums. There are obviously valid criticisms about the process, but keeping jobs with current staff honestly isn't one of them. Still cracks me up XD

Just a reminder peeps:

Unfortunately not many otome games translated. Hakuoki (on the PS3/PSP/DS) is probably the best of the lot. Second Reproduction is also quite decent. After you read the few translated titles out there, you'll have to head to the OELVN scene to find more. Most OELVNs released are otome, so you'll find plenty there. I'd also recommend sitting on http://www.englishotomegames.net/for news

Ahaha, he's been going around behind the scenes trying to sabotage Fuwa for about 3 months now. Sakai_Yuji's username was suspect since his first registration, but only accounts that can be confirmed as him will be banned. So if anybody gets a super-creepy email from a super-creepy fella, they should contact their nearest mod There's other accounts floating around people have their eye on, he's pretty obvious.

How long before Fuwanovel shuts down?
Darklord Rooke replied to periah250's topic in General Discussion
Tay will have to switch the people he's targeting, which he's doing. For example there was a bunch of people who knew about Fuwa who stayed away because of the torrents, like the vast majority of the OELVN community. The pull of Fuwa will switch from providing torrents and a friendly community to providing news and information, developer and translator assistance, and a friendly community. I can see it surviving such a switch Nah, check it again The surveys don't support the view that any demographic on Fuwa is especically attached to the torrents, EXCEPT maybe unregistered guests who don't take part in the community. They may have problems, but EVERY survey has problems. Surveys are only an observation, it's almost impossible to have an observation which is 100% accurate (no matter how high the sample size,) but these observations can contain trends which justify more detailed examination. And it supports the general feeling I've had amongst the "community" for a long time now. I've been following Fuwa since nearly the beginning, and the general attitude shift on Fuwa has been fairly substantial. That being said, the only data that matters won't be available for a few more weeks? Should be interesting reading. -

I'm not sure, I think it's a little dangerous but I'm not a legal expert. I just know in Australia child pornography laws extend to fictitious children. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_pornography_laws_in_Australia -

Ahaha, you can get done in Australia for child pornography I believe. Any Australians importing eroge should be careful... -
How long before Fuwanovel shuts down?
Darklord Rooke replied to periah250's topic in General Discussion
Well, hypothetically, if a third party invests money to help with a game's development, but instead an aspiring game dev directs that money to fund... oh let's just say a torrent distribution site, would this be a misappropriation of investment funds? Or would it be fraud? It's a little confusing to be honest. -
How long before Fuwanovel shuts down?
Darklord Rooke replied to periah250's topic in General Discussion
There was a twitter survey, a FB survey, and a forums survey, if you didn't know about it then you weren't an active/semi-active/remotely-active part of the community. People who take torrents yet don't contribute to the community were excluded from the polls, but I'm not crying myself to sleep over that. -
How long before Fuwanovel shuts down?
Darklord Rooke replied to periah250's topic in General Discussion
Valid point, short answer is different market. Fuwanovel is trying to forge it's way into a new market, which is fortunately also barren and ripe for the picking. For example, there are no sites out there where news and information of VNs are accumulated in a readily available place, there are no sites out there with such a friendly and active VN community. And the move to foster development and projects may eventually lead to much activity. The surveys Tay had received also do not indicate an overall deep attachment to torrents when taking into consideration the active userbase as a whole. The FB post where Tay said he's doing away with torrents has currently received 207 likes. So I think people are blowing the depth of the community's attachment to torrents WAY out of proportion. -

Ahaha, I very much doubt that. -

I'd reply, but I'm too busy reading up on "misappropriating investment funds." -
In addition, I merely replied to his post and he’s already been banned. My innate power to destroy…newbies must be fearsome indeed.
