I love it. Graphic links instead of words, very nice. And it replaces the (semi-useless) birthday thing (I always thought it was fairly pointless) which reduces the number of categories on the right. I ALSO like how it advertises the chat without you needing to sign in.

It may be okay if you're aiming at a literal translation and including hundreds of footnotes. Otherwise it's undesirable. The text itself carries subtleties you are omitting because you can't be bothered to work at an alternative. It's lazy. There are other ways to express the author's intent in english, and this will be one instance where deviating from the script will probably be required (depending on your translation philosophy.)

Be very careful with that. Nukige takes a lot less time to translate, so for example Da Capo 3 was announced a long time ago but it won't be released until the end of the year. Nukige, on the other hand, will take just a couple of months. It's translated and edited very quickly with not much attention paid to the quality. So you get more turn-over with nukige. Nukige titles will be released, and then more announced, so the number in progress may not change much but they'll be churning it out at a faster rate. At least that's what they did in the past, anyway.

VNDB are really inconsistent with their definitions, and part of the problem is the actual definition they use. The other part of the problem is their habit of allowing games into the database not because they conform to the definition but because a staff member thinks it should be there. What you end up with is a mess, and continuous debates about what should or shouldn't be included. In their FAQ VNDB says Ace Attorney is not a VN, but removing it from the database will cause more problems than keeping it will .....

The low participation rate of women isn't surprising, if the market doesn't release stuff they want to buy then they won't participate. It's part of the reason women make up the majority of the OELVN industry, and also why most OELVNs are otomes. It's also why the girls who participated in the survey tend to be younger, they age and then tend to head to OELVNs.

Scores are there for people who can't be arsed to read actual impressions on the game, and to be frank who cares about them Numbering systems are stupid, and inaccurate. Your prejudices and preferences weight these things (which is why top animes are all shounen crap , which may apply to VNs also) your experience weight these things, your philosophy on review scale affects your score, scores are relative so what you're comparing it to also affects stuff. Basically the accurate stuff is in the text and scores just give a quick impression, and not a very accurate one either. It's not worth stressing out over.

Yeah, I expect nukige to be dodgily translated, nobody really cares that it is either. I'm a little disappointed that this game hasn't so far (it's still just the trial version, no idea if the actual version will be like this) been handled decently. But I suppose real world concerns do hamper quality
