  1. Yeah, no information currently available. It's something to keep an eye on, I suppose.
  2. Except Harumade, Kururu is sci-fi/slice of life and But I Love You looks like psychological horror. Fairly different beasts. Also marketing talk is just marketing talk, most companies sound like numpties to hard-core fans of the genre when trying to market stuff (*looks at Bioware and Bethesda.*) They were probably only talking about translated novels when making that statement. There are currently no translated harem stories like it. Untranslated stuff maybe, but for some reason a lot of the best stuff remains untranslated. Thus stuff like this is made to fill a vacant market. As Down pointed out, given the nature of the game this probably includes Bad Ends.
  3. In my (limited) experience, the guys who QC and edit quickly do a fairly shitty job. I'm not saying that because you're slow you're good, but I've never come across a person who was good while also being fast. So I'm glad Ouraibaa is rebuffing those who're volunteering to try and speed up the process.
  4. Breaking these 2 rules lead to some fun arguments discussions. It is apparently okay to succumb to Godwin's law yet politically incorrect to discuss Hitler in any serious way...
  5. Awesome story mate, I hope Germany treats you well. Good luck with your studies.
  6. Editors are 100% necessary. Ren's hatred of them is a tad extreme and may stem from the fact that a) everybody who speaks English thinks themselves qualified to be an editor and b ) there's hardly any decent editors hanging out in fan-tl circles. In this instance the problem is Sekai not getting a good editor. Well... part of the problem anyway. EDIT: Stop over-using the word "editor", Rooke!
  7. Except for the comma abuse *twitches*. But yeah, what kind of editing is that? o.0
  8. Yeah, inconsistency in the database has always been a problem for VNDB. Too much subjectivity in the qualification guidelines, allowing games which don't adhere to the guidelines for special reasons, and just general overlooking stuff. There's no question that VNDB does a good job but I've always had a low opinion of its VN definition. Sorry
  9. Just began playing Huniepop and I'm very surprised. The planned writer for this game (Brad - acclaimed writer of a webcomic... thingy) left early in the dev process due to creative differences, and yet while the story/characters aren't very deep the prose feels quite polished. That's rare for an OELVN game, which usually displays the reverse characteristics (ambitious story/character development, but a distinct lack of writing style[1].) It's also a throwback to the 90s where game devs were forced to write games themselves, and a bit of a reality check to a lot of writers around the OELVN dev scene. ANYWAY - addictive gameplay, polished writing which does its job (a very minimalist job, but a job nonetheless,) entertaining characters, decent art. I'm not surprised this has sold as well as it has. It's definitely low-brow, but it's also entertaining and it's nailed that addictive quality nobody can ever define. Bravo! Still not a game I like to admit I enjoy... PS: [Nitpicky mode] This game doesn't contain a novel narrative. Thus, while it is a dating sim it doesn't contain Visual Novel Storytelling. Isn't that interesting, although Little Witch Romanesque is arguably the same...[/Nitpicky mode] [1] - There's definitely some good writers hanging around the OELVN scene, but imo they're a minority.

  11. I've wanted to see if Parfait ~ Chocolat Second Brew ~ is any good. People say good things about it.
  12. I'm gonna give Huniepop a go..... is what I said a week ago, but I still haven't found the time to start it >:c
  13. Excellent interview fellas. Some helpful advice for translators and a lot of interesting information in general. Awesome stuff.
  14. Shikkoku no Sharnoth has a wonderful English style >:c Heh, if you want pretentiousness you should check out China Mielville
  15. http://www.hardcoregamer.com/2014/12/29/greenlight-district-but-i-love-you-stones-of-sorrow-dungeons-robots-d-the-atom-shifter-helpless/126212/ https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gorshatastic/but-i-love-you-a-horrific-take-on-dating-sims Trailer is on their kickstarter page or here - https://d2pq0u4uni88oo.cloudfront.net/projects/1404869/video-475983-h264_high.mp4 This Indie VN which seeks to evolve the Dating Sim genre has surged past their meagre 8k goal, activating a bunch of exciting stretch goals in the process. Things like "custom gender," "full voice-acting", and "we'll take your money and build a house on the moon instead." However it DOES look fascinating, and I'll be keeping an eye on its progress. Unfortunately I can't find a sample of the game's prose atm
  16. I can understand people's reactions to Kokonoe Kokoro, but Hitomebore doesn't SEEM horrifying. The summary you get on VNDB reminds me of average otome, which while not stellar isn't BAD compared to some of the stuff that has been released. Also, according to dovac on Reddit, Sekai had already licensed these projects last year and were sitting on them. It's entirely possible they had licensed these titles before they became "big" *shrugs*
  17. I have the exact opposite opinion. In fact Kira Kira is the only VN which caused me such intolerable boredom that I wanted to physically harm it in some way, shape, or form.
  18. Resist that temptation! Resist it with all you possess...
  19. Over $100 per backer. Impressive.
  20. Any man with a Little Witch Romanesque avatar is obviously one with impeccable taste :3
  21. The bloat is strong in that writer . There's some pretty strong obfuscation in that screenshot about "roads" too. That being said it looks interesting and I hope it succeeds. Also the backgrounds are gorgeous!!!
  22. Heh, while some may conclude that Rewrite's release date disqualifies it, I prefer to think that this is Key's way of saying... Rewrite just isn't worth remembering *fufufu*
  23. Smut novels have always carried a negative stigma, and romance novels were looked down upon for a long time because of this. That being said there's been an active movement going on to make reading smut seem normal and acceptable, a crusade that is aided by the sheer popularity of the romance genre (by far the best selling genre in the book world.)
  24. *Sigh* Oh, come on! It didn't even have gameplay like the first one did, how is it selling so well >:c
