  1. It was just an excuse to tease Tay a little Making suggestions to improve the site is supposed to be part of my job, after all I just haven't been doing it very often lately
  2. If Rose is reading this, maybe consider including birthdays of active members on the recognition blog. That way you get more than an impersonal list for people active in the community, you get a couple of sentences on their experiences over the past year and their wishes for the new one - an end and a new beginning so to speak. It will also be a way for the Fuwanovel community to get to know each other a little better. Also if birthdays are truly special occasions, special enough to be recognised, then maybe making them fabulous for a day is appropriate. Giving them a small spotlight on the recognition blog might fit Fuwa's welcoming atmosphere . You can make it a weekly thing, making a post every Sunday or something. Have balloons, a picture of a cake (which nobody gets to eat) and other goodies. Here's an example of what you can write for each member: Tay - Tay spent much of his past year schmoozing with many localisers and developers, finally managing to establish iron-clad and nefarious ties with Big Eroge. With this nefarious mission now achieved and having spent so much time networking, he looks forward to a relaxing year ahead doing little more than cackling over a bubbling cauldron and gathering shady spell ingredients. Happy 61st birthday Tay, may you experience many more birthdays to come. And then maybe some streamers and confetti… This way you get more content for your blog, and celebrating birthdays becomes a little more meaningful on Fuwa.
  3. You're a fricken genius Nay! Sweet job!
  4. Balls! XD Well, putting the Birthday widget straight back in means more white space and an unimpressive aesthestic for those on Gravity Green. Fixing that means reducing the size of widgets which increases the sense of clutter, lessens the amount of info gained at first glance, makes people more inclined to ignore them, and overall makes things less effective. I would aim for trying to come up with a separate place to put them, personally. You can't just keep shoving things into the sidebar.
  5. You guys are totally taking the gloss off the victory dance I aimed at Tay, you know The sidebar was becoming ineffective. It was becoming that for a while now. Generally because whenever someone had something they wanted to call to people’s attention, they shoved it into the sidebar. Removing the Birthday section was just a really obvious way of improving things, so obvious that not even Tay could fail to see the benefits (*Nyah Nyah* ) Decay mentioned a 4x increase to the number of people visiting his blog, that’s significant and implies a more effective sidebar as it stands right now. Fuwa has goals for the future, and grand plans, and this sort of participation is part of that. So a solution has to be found one way or the other. The “way things were” wasn’t working very well. It is an excellent topic by Decay and really brought something worth mentioning to Tay’s notice. I wonder if Nay will be able to get it set up at the bottom? If not some more thought might need to go into this …
  6. But that doesn't mean it can't be applied in some form, just not mixed in with all the important stuff you're trying to alert members to. Important stuff which might need more room in the future. Batman had a killer idea about putting it on the bottom, which Nay said he might try out on Sunday. That's a pretty decent solution.
  7. In my defence I tried to keep the dancing to a minimum :3
  8. HELL YES! Massive fan of Trails in the Sky and will be buying this as soon as it's released. Been waiting for years for the Trails in the Sky:SC to be released, and it's awesome to know Cold Steel has also been 100% translated and will be following soon after. People should play Trails on the PC if they're able, not the PSP. The translation is better
  9. Err... so, not a very well thought out thread creation then
  10. It's a Gravity Green theme issue. There's more space on the right sidebar using the FuwaFabulous theme, but almost none when on Gravity Green. Try it for yourself The problem is this - there's so many cool and useful things we're trying to call attention to now, things which will improve the site if participation is increased. If participation increases, then the size of the widget will need to be increased. The Dev blog can survive with a couple of lines now, but you're hoping for more participation in the future so you want to factor in that growth. Simplifying the Recognition system in the present is Rose's call, but what you want it to be in the future is partially yours and again any growth needs to be factored in. Including the birthday widget in the mix will do what Decay mentioned in his post and IMO the other stuff is a little too important to jeopardise with a birthday widget which is partially there just for nostalgia. But obviously your call.
  11. Holy Cripes, this looks amazing! Hope the Kickstarter succeeds.
  12. This is a bit early, but I’m just demonstrating a point On Saturday the following members seem to be enjoying birthdays: Imationer, LoLAEd, Cherry, Silver, Berilium, Ken-Ohki, Teraboizu, Uberpr0, and Kami. I hope each and every one of you enjoy a splendid birthday.
  13. It's still possible to find out who's birthday it is: Go to calendar, click the link which says "show all birthdays today", and you'll see them all. But I really have to question whether it's important enough a topic to actually shove into people's awareness. Half the problem is the Today's Birthday section took up about 6-7 lines on average. Then you shorten more important stuff to ugly 2 line boxes with scroll features. Furthermore having a bunch of 2 line boxes really paints a cluttered aesthetic, and doesn't give you a lot of information at first glance. Ideally the whole thing might need to be redesigned, maybe once the front sit is up there'll be better ways to call attention to things? Dunno. But the widgets already looks less cluttered and more manageable with the birthday section gone. I just made a post in the Birthday topic, the first in about 5 days by the way. I wished every user having a birthday a happy one, and named them all by name. Very simple, very easy, Tay is not going to be happy the birthdays have temporarily vanished… but I seriously don’t see the problem with this new system
  14. Nice! And you got rid of the birthday thing too! Nay's da man!
  15. Sad news. I hope the recovery process allows him to reclaim almost all of his previous self and I hope the damage will be as minor as possible. He is quite a talented artist, and I always marvel at the drawings he can produce using a pen. I wish the both of you the very best.
  16. Also Waxwing, the fantasy otome game being developed by the same group, contains around 260,000 words so far. That’s according to the group’s latest blog entry.
  17. New commercial otome in development by a group called Oasis Plus, and this one's looking damn good. The following is cut and paste straight from lemma (because I'm lazy and busy ) Link: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=32438
  18. Pretty much agree with everything Clephas said. The move to voiced stuff in Oblivion coincided with far less content in the game than Morrowind, so I dunno how I feel about a voiced main character in Fallout 4. Actually yeah I do - "eh." The move to a voiced main character in DA2 also coincided with far less dialogue options. So "eh" again.
  19. it’s too early in the morning for detecting sarcasm on the internet
  20. I agree with Decay on both counts. KNs contain no choices (not routes,) and wake is a word that can be used that way. Not really elegant usage though. Heh, reminds me of those old role playing games "You wake to find yourself in an abandoned cell..."
  21. Heh, if Tay would also *cough* remove the "Today's Birthday" section then more real-estate would be available. The widgets on the side need a revamp, too many short term solutions is making it unsightly and cluttered. And it's not working very well imo.
  22. Good story, or A story? At first glance it looks like typical and cliche'd shounen storytelling including a medieval and European setting. Reminds me of Fault Milestone One, which incorporates anime style storytelling in a medieval world, but those people probably do it much better than Winged Cloud. Don't get me wrong the inclusion of an actual story is a step forward, I just don't believe you when you say it's "good." It's also incredibly short, so they inserted a story of ... dubious quality, and instead cut play time.
  23. Shuffle is awful. IMO Kira Kira is worse though
  24. Over 11,000 owners according to Steamspy, the results of which have not been asked to be hidden from the public. Grisaia's Steamspy page has been asked to be hidden from the public. A cache'd page put it at about 1,000 owners before the results were pulled.
