Trump and the connection between democracy and tyranny
EcchiOujisama replied to sanahtlig's topic in General Discussion
What is wrong with you people? We need Trump-sempai to Make the USSA Great Again! It's not just for Americans, Japan needs America to be great again just as much as Americans. Most Americans don't realize how much of a problem it is for Japan to have a pussy in charge. But the Japanese with their eyes open know. Trump-sempai will give Japan the kick in the ass she needs to be great again. When Japan is great again anime will be great again. Why don't you want Japan to be great again? You must be hateful, hurtful, racist, bigoted, sexist, xenophobic Japanphobes who kidnap kittens and eat them alive. This tall drink of umeshu knows what's up. Random-kun for Prime Minister! And my waifu no. 612! You think some liberal pussy who wants to sell Japan to the Chinese will keep the world safe for anime and galge? NO! A vote for Trump is a vote for Japan and a vote to Make Anime Great Again! -
If you don't mind paying a tooooooooon, IBM made a reasonably high quality Japanese keyboard in the 80s that wasn't up to the standard of the Model M, but still used some kind of mechanical switch. I'm pretty sure it started with an 88, maybe 8808? Something like that. I saw a used one sell for over 40,000 JPY on YJA a few years ago and that's way too rich for my blood without a Windows key, plus shipping and proxy fees. I have one made by Sun Micromicrosystems that is considerably higher quality than most keyboards today, semi-tactile like the Happy Hacking keyboards, although it's a standard US keyboard with hiragana on the keys and not a real JIS layout. When Oracle bought Sun they stopped making them so they're pretty hard to find too.

I'm looking for a high quality Japanese keyboard,. built to last 10 lifetimes. Like back in the good old days of the Model M when keyboards were keyboards and went through the dishwasher (no, not your waifu) when they needed to be cleaned. Unicomp makes/used to make a Japanese Model M, but their quality has fallen so far from the real thing their descriptions border on fraud. With Filco being a Japanese company you would think they of all people would make a quality Japanese keyboard that has some decent switches, but I can't seem to find one. I'm looking to learn to type Japanese on a high quality JIS 109-key keyboard. Filco, Ducky, I'm not too picky on the brand as long as it uses a high quality mechanical switch. I'm open to paying for shipping from Japan too. A detachable cord would be the tits. I'm not interested in one of those Happy Hacking keyboards. Despite having the JIS layout, their halfway rubber dome switches just don't do it for me. If there is a JIS keyboard with Alps switches out there, I could live with that. Any ideas?

My PM box is going crazy thanks to Mr. Mojii, who admits to being the banned katakana whorebitch, bothering myself and 9 other members with a PM titled "DuDE DELETE DAT THREAD RIGHT NOW" He/she/it is claiming the evil kaguya banned him/her/it for no reason, because kaguya is a big meanie who bans people without even warning them. Rule-abiding board members are being spammed with this because " a revolution or something to make the admins realize what kaguya did. hes the one who should be banned" is being plotted. I'd like to think there is some kind of rule against spamming unrelated people by PM to incite mod revolution. Call it being an adult if you like. Please deal with this appropriately.

This one dropped about a week ago. While @CeruleanGamer is no doubt ovaries deep while NTRabisming your girlfriend, or words to that effect, there doesn't seem to be a lot of excitement about this one. On the surface, you'd think this can't miss. Commanding a pair of kunoichi and doing H things to them while fighting bad guys trying to take over the world. What's not to love? Quite a lot, as it turns out. The first thing that sticks out is the two kunoichi you get on the first run aren't particularly interesting or fun characters. You have Narika, the annoying, flat, jealous childhood friend you've only known for 2 years. Then there's Haruka, who doesn't feel like someone from centuries ago like she is supposed to be. She's every shy modern girl you've ever seen. As the most interesting character with the best body, Subaru is of course off limits on your first playthrough. For the first 30-35 turns (going over 99 is automatic game over and bad end) you pretty much do nothing but spin your wheels as you try to build yourself up enough to do just about anything. It's hard explain as it has a lot of interconnected moving parts that affect each other, but if you imagine playing some NES RPG that requires a lot of grinding (like Dragon Quest 1 or Final Fantasy 1), then lose experience points every time you take a step, you start to get the idea. Except you have more like 6 interconnected parts here. What really stood out is that it seems to replicate the major flaws of both Hitozuma Hime Club and Otoboku. Like Hitozuma Hime Club, you're bombarded with far more H scenes in succession than (I'd imagine) anyone could ever get off to. Sooner or later you find yourself clicking through them so the game can continue. Like Otoboku, it has a plot and enough characters that are interesting enough (even if they aren't the main heroines) that it should be engaging, but somehow it just isn't. While Eiyuu*Senki balances the gameplay and story pretty well, this one had a tendency to give gameplay when I'm ready for story and to throw too many nothing segments at me when I'm just trying to get strong enough to survive. It's less difficult than it is more tedious than it needs to be. Another annoyance is that the option to skip previously messages turns itself off. I haven't figured out what causes it yet, but it's a regular occurrence. If you decide to save yourself for Akira-sensei, don't wait too long during her first scene. You've been warned. I found the bonus game for extra CGs to be quite a lot of fun. It's very simple, but an enjoyable slash-everything-that-moves game. I just don't see why this one gets the amount of love it does in Japan. It is greatly outclassed by the Rance remakes. It's a decent game, but not a great one. For an extra challenge, try playing on Nightmare Mode. An invention of one of the guys in the staff room, you need to orgasm during every Haruka scene. It's harder thank you think.

Because even in 2016 printing a shipping label with an address that uses the Latin alphabet is too hardcore for Japan. Black Ship II has not yet arrived. -

Sometimes you just can't wait 24 hours to eat Peking Duck. Sometimes you just can't wait for her headache to go away before you bust a nut. Sometimes you can solve both problems at the same time. -
I may be in the minority, but I quite enjoyed most of the side routes and would recommend them. While there isn't anything that will completely flip your shit and lose your mind, they bring the world of Majikoi into full bloom and give us a glimpse into Yamato's life that goes beyond eroge protagonist. Can you live without them? Absolutely. The question is what you want from your Majikoi experience. If all you're looking for is something to use as jerk off material, you can download a save and get that no problem without going through the routes. But do you find the dynamic and unique bond of the Kazama Family intriguing? Do you wish you had a group of friends like that, with or without a bunch of hot deadly chicks who would totally sex you if given the opportunity? If you would say yes, then these routes are worth playing. We learn more about Cap, Moro and Gakuto. You can feel the friendship there. Sure, Chika-rin is nothing more than the annoying bitch in high school who was treated as being far more attractive than she actually is by everyone and was popular for reasons unknown, but the fact that she is so shamelessly useless is her appeal as a character (and spoiler: she puts out). Ume-sensei's route isn't exactly how I would have wanted to get there, but it is believable, true to the characters and doesn't leave you wanting to take a shit on it the way Wanko's route does. How can you not appreciate the comedy of a hermit crab route existing with so many tempting female options in the mix? They are a very nice compliment to the main routes that creates a whole greater than the sum of its parts. Like any game that is very long and/or has a ton of routes, sooner or later you feel like enough is enough. There comes a point in time where you need to do something else for a couple days. Do that. You need it. Then come back and make a decision on these routes.

Per your request, I would be inclined to describe in incredible detail the immense degree of the shit-tierness of your list, but I simply do not have the time. And my freshly sprained ankle hurts like hell. Look at your list. No Kimagure Orange Road. No Ranma 1/2. No Tenchi Muyo. No Ichigo 100%. No Onegai Teacher. No High School DxD. No Maison Ikkoku. No School Rumble. No Marmalade Boy. No Ai Yori Aoshi. No OreShura. Not even a DNA2 or Tenshi na Konamaiki. Not one trip to El Hazard. I'm not even trying yet. No Urusei Yatsura tells me you're racist against aliens. Fujishima-sensei gets the shaft too? DAFUQ?!? Go watch Ah! Megami-sama and Taiho Shichauzo immediately! At the very least the OVAs and the first TV series for each. Shit-tier indeed. Go watch HomoGeBu and tell us how great the story is like the girls from Haganai.

Majikoi A Translation Project Discussion
EcchiOujisama replied to twdarkeh's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
If they were to go the Muv-Luv route we'd get an amazing crossover with the casts of Kimiaru and Tsujidou-san. That would be awesome! On paper. But let us think critically. To Muv-Luv it out Yamato will be locked into the Touma route and there's nothing you'll be able to do about it. Remember, MLA means you're stuck with the worst route possible. It'll start with something "innocent" like a mouth is a mouth bro. Touma sure has a purdy mouth. Then a butt is a butt bro. Yamato is already all about the buttsecks. Poor Miyako sneaks into Yamato's room to bring him back to the righteous path with some good old fashioned hetero buttsecks only to find him riding Touma and pulling his hair. Yamato tries to tell it isn't usually that bad but she runs away and cries in jealousy. We see him fall more and more as the tragedy unfolds. Then all of the girls we love will die. They'll all die in an amazing blaze of glory saving reality as we know it but the official story will be getting into a Kamakami Sui drinking contest with Benkei not realizing it was really sake and they all died from alcohol poisoning. There is no avoiding the bad end with Yamato and Touma holding hands and skipping through the mountains of Switzerland saying "yodel-ay-hee-hoo!" everywhere they go, talking about how great it is to be husband and husband. Now I ask, is that really what you want? -
Scrub question about changing computer locale
EcchiOujisama replied to Dergonu's topic in General Discussion
Locale is/was part of the settings on the user account, so in theory that should be doable. Of course, it would take less time to experiment than it would to ask the question and wait for someone to answer it. (^_-) Without knowing which version of Windows you're using I can't make a blanket statement. I've come across situations with a single machine having different locales on user accounts in XP and 7 but 8 and 10 break a lot of things. I run Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise on Japanese locale and I've yet to find ANYTHING that won't run on that save some 16-bit DOS programs and the old Magic The Gathering PC game when it gets its panties in a wad. As long as it's still part of the user profile on your version of Windows, than yes, you can do that. If Microsoft changed it over to the machine settings on your version of Windows you can't. As Okarin said while I was typing, Japanese Windows fixes everything. Activating Japanese Windows outside of Japan is a PITA if you buy a disc on YJA, but if you can download a VL/MSDN version (get a MSDN membership or use your school's MSDN membership to download a Japanese VL Windows if they will let you is the non-piracy answer), that is ideal. -

Give Pita Ten a chance. It's the perfect amount of cuteness and absurdity wrapped up in one hilarious package. If you're not sold after the first episode I don't know what to tell you. Anime vs. VNs is no longer a fair comparison, because they have come to serve two very different purposes from the business side of things. Back in MY DAY, when we walked to school in the snow, uphill both ways, anime was the end product and it didn't get any better than having a genuine Japanese laserdisc in your hands. To this day Kimagure Orange Road remains among the elite of the elite in its genre. Even though there was a manga out there, the anime was its own complete product, that gave you the entire story and was an end product you would buy unto itself. VNs do that today. When you are asked for 10,000+ yen, it is to give you the whole story in a complete and fulfilling way (in theory). You don't go through a 2 hour VN as a teaser for a 200 episode anime series. Over the last decade plus the business model for anime has changed. The run of anime has gone from 26+ episodes to 13 to 12 to now even 10. With 26 episodes it is possible to establish 5 or 6 or more characters and give them a story tell. This is no longer the endgame. For the most part, anime is no longer an end product to deliver a compelling, entertaining and satisfying story. 12 episodes are pissed away on a few gags and introducing the characters with no intention of giving a satisfying conclusion. It has become a commercial for the manga, or light novel, or game, or wall scrolls, or cell phone straps, or whatever else. It's not even that you can't tell a compelling story with riveting characters in a relatively short period of time, as the great OVA series of the 90s can attest. The problem is that anime is no longer designed to do so. As such a fair comparison cannot be made. It's like expecting a better story from a trailer than the full film (I realize with the shittiness of American films the trailers are often more entertaining, but you know what I mean). Compare the Majikoi game and anime and it's obvious that game is a much more rewarding experience. Give the writer 100 episodes to tell that kind of story and we can make a more informed comparison.

Eiyuu*Senki Original/Gold Discussion
EcchiOujisama replied to CeruleanGamer's topic in Visual Novel Talk
This is no longer necessary. As I mentioned earlier in the thread the current version of the patch displays all H scenes untranslated. Development is ongoing and you should always check the thread on Hongfire with comments from the developer of the patch: http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php/402251-Tenco-Eiyuu%2ASenki/page77 You may be able to view the H scenes by installing it in Japanese and accessing it from there, or it may only show uncensored versions of scenes you previously accessed in the English version. You may have to go through the game again to see them. In unrelated news, I finally beat the Nightmare mode on GOLD a couple days ago. (^_^)V No false advertising there at all. It is quite challenging. Got through it in 36 turns with basically no money at the end, but I did it! I took 4 cities on almost every turn, and used every action point possible to advance with 2 exceptions, so it might be possible to beat it in 34 or 35 turns if you really bring it. Can't recommend turning up the difficulty all the way up unless you love hard strategy games or just have to earn all of the achievements yourself like me. This was far more stressful than it was fun. -

I don't know what's wrong with some of your deductive reasoning, but IRL paizuri is even better than it is on screen. Holy shit, so fucking amazing. Of course, it takes a nice pair for it to work, but HOLY FUCK. The first time I got sandwiched by a pair of F cups I shot my load in 3 strokes. Soooooooo goooooooooood. You might as well be claiming a woman's mouth wouldn't feel good on you in real life. Does not compute. I can't believe I am seriously reading a thread where a man is trying to tell a woman what does and does not stimulate her secret place, AFTER she says she has a fetish for it. Only on the internet. Onto how eroge have corrupted me... I certainly have a fetish for the word hora now. I can't hear the word without thinking about shooting my load in a lamia's mouth. With or without a paizuri to warm up. I have developed a Pavlovian response to the name Takashiro that always gets me ready to tear Takashiro-sensei's clothes off and makes my dick tinge. Thankfully I don't encounter any Takashiros in real life. It's opened me up to rape, to a certain extent. When getting revenge on some bitch in an eroge who is being a bitch for the sake of being hated, or raping an ally/enemy until they like it I'm fine with. However, bring up real rape like what the rapefugees have been doing to European women and boys and I want to see them meet a very violent and painful end. Between games and anime, I've certainly opened my eyes to the feminine charms of the kitsune. And Kansaiben. I wouldn't call it a fetish per se, but women who use warawa or ware are almost guaranteed to be winners.

It's not a major problem, but the display for location is a bit wonky. If I type "Oppaisei" as my location, it is displayed as LocationOppaisei. For it to display in a more readable fashion I typed ": Oppaisei" as my location. It seems like it should be a simple coding fix to have location displayed without doing that. Content I Posted In used to work as one would think when the site upgrade was finished, displaying the threads with posts from me in them. However, about a week ago suddenly decided that this was the only thread I've ever posted in. I don't recall manually removing every other thread I've posted in from displaying there.

Bunny Black 2 Early Impressions and Helpful Info
EcchiOujisama replied to EcchiOujisama's topic in Visual Novel Talk
As irony would have it, the best source of information about the original Bunny Black happens to be this very forum! From the cover, Ekate and Meryl join your party briefly but are not available for the endgame. For the others, Forze is your Maou and too important to do the bitchwork, Shia is your non-fighting sex slave, Liz and Maki are two easy girls from the neighborhood and while having more charm and sex appeal than she did in the sequel, Rakia has a business to run. For your generic units, the AI and options available are much better than they were in BB2. I never had any problems getting my minions to do what I wanted. -

No, not doing anything wrong. If you read the OP that's the fight I mentioned that had eaten up most of my time in the game. Walk around, kill enemies, put all of your points into defense and you'll beat it. Eventually. They're just a lot stronger than you the first time through the game. -
Bunny Black 2 Early Impressions and Helpful Info
EcchiOujisama replied to EcchiOujisama's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I found HP and SP growth through leveling up to be sufficient. For Darx I liked to get defense to 99, attack to 99 and possibly add a nasty slashing technique. I found defense made more a difference in dealing with the quantity of enemies you fight than attack did in my first run. If you don't put anything into speed you'll get to a point where everyone always attacks before anyone in your party, and that gets old fast. @CeruleanGamer previously mentioned putting most of the stat point into evade and found it becomes difficult for most enemies to hit you with around 60 evade. I would err on the side of pumping up your 4 main stats (attack, defense, speed, evade) your first time through, especially if you're on Overlord. I gave my levels and party for the first time I cleared the game earlier in the thread, and that was with no additional magic defense, so it really doesn't take that much to clear the game. re: defense or evade, I would say defense. Once it gets high enough most of the enemies can only deal negligible damage and I have very low tolerance for being hit for something that deals more damage than my maximum HP. -

EcchiOujisama replied to EcchiOujisama's topic in Visual Novel Talk
If you imported a BB1 save, strongly consider using Maki and/or Liz for awhile so you won't have to pay to get them back when they die. Money is tight for awhile on your first run, and you don't want to spend it to tread water. Between healing and making the on-screen map usable, a fairy isn't optional. It's an absolute necessity. I had 2 in my party through the game the first time. The other thing you need as soon as possible is a hydragon or succubus. They will display hidden doors on the map. You could use the maps on Chaosmemo, but you definitely get used to how convenient it is. Makl and/or an ogre girl will expand your radar range to see enemies on the map. Useful, but you can live without it if you're short on command points. Aside from that, it's more based around whether you prefer to blast the baddies with spells, slice them up with swords, smash them with hammers, etc. -

I think Duoa is more from time passing after you beat her than anything else. I've had her show up in different dungeons and never had a Berserker in the main party. Definitely not required from my experience. Miriza is special pain in the ass because you have to beat her, then go down to the next level, return, beat her again, go down again, go back up again and after you beat her the third time you'll get the second H scene and she joins you. Typical Bunny Black horseshit. The Marialis/Filliane events are especially annoying. Eventually you have to leave and return 4 times between events, and there are a bunch of them. It's pure story, so not needed for 100% H scenes, but holy %^$^ me, what a pain in the ass. -

Tch, I was hoping for some kind of obscure pseudosidequest. You seem to have more luck than I in getting those Holy Werebears to show up. I've got 800+ kills of the other holy monsters and still haven't seen one. Does Citadel Spear (the little 6 floor bonus dungeon, certainly not to be confused with the Gate of Guidance) sound right for the Heaven Gate? I tend to fight a Gatekeeper there so it would keep with the theme of randomness on these, and is the only other bonus dungeon in the game. Thanks as akways. -

@Suzu FanaticYou're not wrong at all and I already murdered this horse with my bare hands in the OP so I won't do so again. On the plus side, at least they got rid of the needless hassle the first one made you go through to open treasure chests. Amazingly, I'm finding a lot of people online and offline who actually like this MORE than the first one. Apparently some people think that everything I disliked about it and the comparatively blase story were awesome. @CeruleanGamerCongrats on your save! To stick up for slashing in this one, I rather like having 4 Onyx Knights telling everyone to return to the darkness before slashing the crap out of them twice per turn when they don't just wipe out the small fries with a giant fart before the battle starts. If I may ask (again), where did you find the Pearly Gate, Heaven Gate and Holy Werebear to complete the unit list? You appear to be the first person to have done so outside of Japan. All of the "100%" saves floating around are missing them.
