  1. I'll agree with you on this. I had no idea what the Book of Maps did until I equipped it, noticed nothing, then got rid of my fairies to see I still had a usable map. Ogre Girl's ability sounds similar as well, but in fact it expands your awareness of enemies range. I hadn't gone through the bonus scenes yet, so @CeruleanGamer's note about it being in the bonus scenes explains the missing CG. There are some things villains awesome enough to call themselves ware are not permitted to do without losing their dignity, and that certainly qualifies. As a fellow royal I felt embarrassed just watching it. Felt a big one of these on the back of my head. (^_^); Out of curiosity, has anyone noticed anything that causes Dorothy to show up with the key to the Citadel Spear? Sometimes she's there as soon as I have access to the room, other runs through the game she doesn't show up at all. Most mysterious. I would say it can't just be random, but with this game, you never can tell. lol Addition: one thing that works to get you the key to the Citadel Spear is rescue rape Dorothy in the highest level you can initially reach in Effervescent Sea. After this she will show up with the key in front of the door. I've definitely gotten it earlier than that for reasons I can't figure out, but that does work.
  2. FINALLY got those pesky scenes Sex With Captives 4 and Sex With Filliane 6&7. This is the same kind of bullshit you have with Crowe's and Lily's scenes. You need to level up Filliane until she's somewhere between 12 and 16 (I went with 16 to be safe). Make as little progress in the story as possible. Get the door installed in Castle Baldaquin and stop progressing with the story and the dungeon. From here on do nothing but go to the jail, go to a dungeon, leave immediately, return to the jail, rinse, wash repeat until you get the scenes. If you go too far in Castle Baldaquin you will miss missable scenes that have to be seen before these show up. What a bite in my ass. Amazingly, with 185/185 scenes I'm still missing one CG - number 269. It's Koze in a witch costume. Does that event featuring that ring a bell to anyone for where it might be?
  3. Yeah, you're supposed to get those scenes before she gets outed as a traitor. The Japanese walkthrough makes it sound like you'd have to be a braindead retard to miss them. Yet I keep missing them.
  4. Been through this one three times and still stuck on 3 H scenes - Sex With Captives 4 and Sex With Filliane 6-7. No matter how slowly I climb Castle Baldequin ir go between the prison and Hall of Doors I just can't get these to come up before Filliane gets outed as a traitor. Is there some secret I haven't figured out? They're the only H scenes I'm missing. (T_T) After stepping away from a day or two I'll say it's much easier to digest a second or third time when you're strong enough to cut down most of the enemies, use the Lucky Bell to keep random encounters at a pleasant level and don't have to go through the Gate of Guidance.
  5. From that description I'm pretty sure @okokis talking about the optional fight on Flame of Valor 5F. This is a nasty battle at this point in the game if you're not highly overleveled. Jon doesn't warn you about danger for nothing. The main problem you face is that there are so many backup units. Get some spells that hit all enemies and wipe them all out before backups can take their place. If you beat the 9 enemies in front of you before the round ends it doesn't matter how many units the enemy has in reserve, you still win. It doesn't go away so you could alternatively come back later and stomp it when you're stronger. In some situations it's faster to quit the game and load than it is to wait for the battle to end once it hits the point of hopelessness. I decided to power through it and got it cleared the second time yesterday. Aside from a second star on units that have cleared the game a second time there is no apparent additional bonus for doing so. There is a helpful Cheat Engine script that works with the English version, for those so inclined. http://everyone.loves.this.forum.gamehacking.software/viewtopic.php?t=587365&sid=8d7f30d98e959ed60f4efea25c10b9e1
  6. Hmm...what you're saying contradicts my experience a bit. I had Filliane in my party during the last boss fight and she did not get a badge or a star. However, everyone I hired who was not in the party and Marialis got a star. I have Bunny Black 1 and 2 in different directories. Liz and Maki's stats reset for me. Mine are in the default install directories. Did you move Bunny Black 1 out of Program Files?
  7. If there is an item that regenerates SP I haven't found it yet. The only way to automatically regenerate SP for free that I know of is to have a Hell Maid in your party.
  8. A little more information on my answers (if you care...) I rated Mangagamer a 4 on translation quality as I generally come across a lot of dialog translation choices I find questionable, but from my experience their translation quality is widely varied. Some are fine, others are atrocious, others are fine and atrocious at different times in the same title (Shuffle! comes to mind). DRM is an instant dealbreaker when it comes to money changing hands for me. I will not support any company that utilizes DRM as a matter of principle. I don't mind paying for something, but I'm only paying one time and it better not make my life easier to pirate it. I am FAR more apt to spend money on huge limited edition packages of games than I am a standard release or a download. I'd much rather pay $200 for a soundtrack CD (or something of higher quality aimed at audiophiles), poster, autographs, 2WT dakimakura cover of a character I like, etc. than I am to pay $20-40 for a game alone. I like having Japanese limited editions on the shelf in my library, and am quite comfortable with paying 200 USD/25,000 JPY or more if I feel I am getting value for my money. I'm also much more likely to spend money on related goods (posters, calendars, keychains, etc. etc.) of something I pirated that I liked. Contrary to RIAA/MPAA logic, piracy has greatly increased the amount of money I spend on otaku products. I would spend more if Japanese companies didn't make me resent them for making it so difficult to give them money for products I want to buy. I selected your interest in Japan option a few times, but I would say it less that I am interested in Japan as much as many things that interest me happen to originate in Japan. While I like New Japan Pro Wrestling, watch anime, play galge, practice kendo and would love to fight in Rizin FF now that there is a real spiritual successor to PRIDE FC, it is the existence of these things that draws me to Japan and learning Japanese, not the other way around as the answer choice seems to indicate. I'd also describe my interest in VNs as a natural extension of my interest in anime, and there really wasn't a choice for that. Tokimemo was the stuff of legend for us western otaku in the 90s.
  9. Good to know it wasn't just me on that place. I have no idea how anyone could have play tested that and thought it was the least bit fun. That conversation about a trip to Celestia appears to be nothing more than an attempt to induce murderous rage from people who haven't saved their game. I thought it might have been a neat NG+ bonus at first but there are no maps for it on Chaosmemo and no mention of a way to get there on the Softhouse Chara Wiki. And the premise of BB3 is based on those no good Celestials sticking their nose where it doesn't belong, so Darx can't go rape and conquer all of them just yet. Perhaps if enough people buy Bunny Black 3 and complain about the long dungeons in BB2 and 3 we'll have one hell of a raping, pillaging and plundering invasion in BB4...
  10. Nope. Your choices are to hand over your money or cheat. There are 1 or 2 events in the story that also raise command a few points, but the design is to buy command via reinvestment.
  11. I have solution for the end of Eiyuu*Senki when trying to build troops/HP for the last few battles of Shambala during a time when you're basically down to wasting 3 turns to fight bandits. CHEAT! Ordinarily I would frown upon this, especially since the point is to overcome the challenge, however building up troops by skipping turns and fighting bandits just takes too long to get 60 characters built up. Hence my more creative solution. CeruleanGamer posted how to do this to modify a few stats in Bunny Black 2, and the process is the same. Get yourself a copy of Cheat Engine and fire it up. Enter your current number of maximum troops/HP (process is the same for regular units and heroes) and hit new scan, then first scan. Then go through a fight, enter your new max number and hit next scan. If this reduces it to 2 different options you're golden. Modify the value of the bottom one to whatever you want your new max HP to be and you're good. If you have more than 2 values there repeat the process until you're down to 1 or 2. The addresses change each time you run the game so making a table for it really wouldn't work. I looked up gold for the hell of it and it always returned 4 values no matter how many times it changed and I searched again. Modifying them and ending my turn crashed the game without changing the gold total, so stick with max troops for cheating. It's enough anyway. (^_^) You can safely have troops well in to the 6 figures if you are so inclined. But if you fat finger something and assign more troops than the maximum to someone it will crash your game, so don't do that.
  12. There's no way to put a positive spin on it compared to the original. It's simply an inferior game. The original was energizing and captivating. I could never wait to see what would happen next. This one just feels flat. The pacing is much slower thanks to the game being primarily composed of several long dungeons. Rather than being given the story between small accomplishments, even if they're just silly repetitive jobs from Rakia, it now comes in pieces when you retreat back to your castle to heal. The sense of adventure and never knowing what was next are gone as you figure out where the whole game is generally going relatively early. The long dungeons wore on me after awhile. Moreso than the first time I talked about it. Toward the end I was more looking forward to it being over than to feel the accomplishment of completing it. Trying to go back to do the events I missed, even with far more NG+ benefits than the original, feels like a chore rather than something fun and awesome like it did with the first one. I can't really recommend importing BB1 data for anyone on the fence with this game. Overlord brings all of the games flaws to the forefront and makes them worse in hindsight. Normal seems like the way to go. If anyone wants to use my save to have a party that should easily crush the game on normal just to go through the story I'll upload my save data. If you've read this thread you already know everything that sucks about this game. If that doesn't put you off enough to say no outright, you should still play it. You already know not to expect the same quality as the original, and that is what hurt it the most. It's a barely adequate sequel to a great game. Having just added BB2 to my VNDB entry I'll note that most people enjoyed this one more than I did. Out of 103 votes, 99 people rated it higher and no one rated it lower. You should probably use me as the barometer for pessimism on this one.
  13. I have 2 fairies, and cleared the game with them, and still can't give them more specific orders than to attack a specific row, defend, support a row, etc. I used them for support which generally got me attacks with healing spells when needed, but the judgement of which healing spell left something to be desired. When it comes to Healing Touch or Benediction, the AI makes the choice opposite of what I would prefer more than half of the time. It gives unneeded Benedictions and cheaps out with Healing Touch when Benediction would have been far more appropriate (and prevent someone from getting taken out in that round of fighting). It's fairy cockblocking on a level I haven't seen since the Legend of Zelda cartoon that used to moonlight for the Super Mario Bros Super Show on Fridays. The O Knight has X discipline and I can't give him any orders, but the way he slices the crap out of everything twice per turn makes up for it. +1 to the programmable orders. It's super convenient.
  14. A bit on those healing spells. I had 2 fairies, and only gave 1 of them the spell to heal an ally to full HP. If you let the AI have high cost healing spells your MP will disappear at an incredible rate. Be careful with going too crazy with Cheat Engine if you want to have anything resembling the genuine Bunny Black 2 experience. When I cleared Overlord I had Darx at 43, a hydragon at 37, a goliath at 38, Filliane and 2 fairies at 40. If you go to 60 the only challenge in the game will be going slow enough not to miss half the story. Quite right, the effects of items are cumulative. Surprisingly I found that the slashing items created more powerful attacks than the fire items, even when the fire items had a much higher % increase. I'm seeing a lot of the events I missed come at the beginning of Castle Baldaquin. I'm going to recommend just going in and coming right back until you clear out all of the events. Even if you make a half-hearted attempt to get through the dungeon you'll beat it before you see them all.
  15. It turns out 60 wasn't enough command to put everyone I wanted in my party, so I used the power of Cheat Engine to change it! After beating Overlord without cheating I deserve it. (^_^)V It's a very simple modification in Cheat Engine, change the value at address 0B0DCDE8 to whatever you want your command to be. The game will only display up to 99, but a little binary math tells me that means the lowest theoretical maximum value you could have is 127. Something that surprisingly does not carry over is ability to buy units of certain conquered enemies that are unlocked throughout the game, like distas, hylfs, etc. If you want one or two, buy them after you do the sidequest. I am loving the way Miss Horn preemptively kills everything in her path. Thinking about picking up 2 more. @CeruleanGamerI don't know about evading everything, but you could probably evade most attacks if you put enough into evade. The highest evade item I have so far only gives +8, so if you're going to spam it enough you'll get more than you could through any item. I suspect some of the attacks from bosses in the Gate of Guidance and the last boss can't be avoided no matter what, but for most normal attacks can probably be avoided. OTOH, once I got my defense to around 60 almost nothing outside of those boss attacks was hitting for more than 1HP of damage anyway. For the skills at different levels issue, see the wiki: http://softhousechara.wikia.com/wiki/Bunny_Black_2/Skills
  16. More random info for you guys! I finally got through both of the bosses in Gate of Guidance yesterday. These are nasty fights. Both of them attack 3 times per turn and can hit your whole party or kill/nearly kill a character in a single turn. My party's levels are 36-42 and the lowest defense anyone had after bonuses has was 87. I customized items to maximize defense and still couldn't get through these fights without someone biting the bullet. If you are going to map the 16th floor to 100% and/or get the treasure do that BEFORE you go fight the boss in District L. The boss (and the treasure) respawns as soon as you leave the screen. I figured these boss fights were a 1 time only deal and spent my SGP on revives. Bad move. After mapping the whole place and finding that boss was back I couldn't win the fight a second time and had to backtrack all the way through the place after squeaking by the boss on floor 15. When you go through the last door in the Baldaquin Courtyard, follow it through to the end of Castle Baldaquin and beat the boss, you are now locked into doing the endgame and can't go back to any of the previous dungeons, so plan accordingly. The yellow enemies on the 5th and 6th floors of Baldaquin Tower are the best source of EXP in the game. Too bad it's beyond the point of no return. These fights fork over 2600 EXP each, more than 10 times other random encounters in the area. The Citadel Spear is another optional dungeon. It involves a lot of fighting relative to the its meager floor space and contains book pages. Once you touch the door on the 6th floor of Baldaquin Tower you can return to that door from your castle, so no worries there. If anything, make sure you do to see events and have the option to use more characters. For NG+ purposes you do not have to have your hired monsters survive the last battle in order to keep them. They just need to be in your party or in reserve, not waiting for you to rebuy them after they are killed. I cleared all maps to 100% and your on screen maps carry over! Fuck yeah. They are tinted until you walk on those spaces again so you can tell the difference between the map and where you've been on that playthrough. It's apparently even easier to miss events than I thought, as I was trying to go slow and still only got 83%. @yetisphereAs I previously noted in the thread, if you do NG+ from a BB1 save the game forces you to do Overlord difficulty. You can choose a lower difficulty after you beat the game. The wiki did a poor job of explaining how investments work, but the total cost of all upgrades is 9,000,000, not the final upgrade costing 9,000,000. At that point you will have 60 command, which I believe is the absolute maximum in this one.
  17. I still have 3 dungeons to go plus the last floor of the bonus dungeon, but so far there is no Shia or Forze in your party. There is a time when you control Koze, although she coincidentally has the exact same everything as Darx. A warning in how you distribute your points between different attributes. There is an unavoidable boss battle in Path of Light. He attacks twice per turn and can hit your whole party. A little testing showed that if your total defense between stats and items isn't around 60 he'll just use a technique that hits everyone and wipe you out.
  18. Bread (the money in BB, loaves or slices not specified) would be good to add to the table. All of the investments will take tens of millions. According to the Wiki the last buyable units are released at the 250,000 investment, but according to Aroduc at Seiha Translations the last buyable unit is unlocked with the 400,000 investment. I'm not sure yet, but if you map 100% of a floor it looks like there's a chance it will still be mapped in NG+. 100% maps are viewable in the extras option from the game's main menu, even before you clear the game the first time. Here's hoping. The Gate of Guidance is an optional dungeon, basically this game's version of Losers' Paradise. While it isn't quite as long, in some ways it's actually worse than LP. After going up a few floors you get hammered and hammered HARD. Both in quantity of random encounters, and how nasty they are. Too many of them are fights again 15 units with backups, some of which can hit your entire party. Some of those are the random random encounters, not even the guys you can see on the map. Fair warning - when Darx complains about it it's about to get even worse. 15 floors, plus the 16th floor is a megafloor that is the size of 13 floors. There are book pages and other goodies worth getting, but so far this place is a bitch and a half without cheating.
  19. With my evil necromancer powers I return from the abyss of death...MAPS FOR BUNNY BLACK 2! http://web.archive.org/web/20120704231906/http://chaosmemo.net/bunnyblack2/index.html If you can't muddle through enough of the kanji to figure out which dungeon is which, this should approximate it enough: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fweb.archive.org%2Fweb%2F20120704231906%2Fhttp%3A%2F%2Fchaosmemo.net%2Fbunnyblack2%2Findex.html&edit-text=&act=url
  20. Focusing on collecting items to get money to make donations isn't a bad way to go for a few hours. The cost of the donations continue to escalate, but your progress transfers in NG+ so it's a one time deal. I'm at 27 and that's the point where it no longer pays to run around and kill enemies at that level looking for items. You should be able to get to 23 command without too much time invested, and that will get you the Hydragon. Don't be afraid to put points into his defense either, mine has been killed more than a few times in the front row from everyone ganging up on him.
  21. A quick Google search doesn't return anything for CheatEngine yet. A note on customizing your characters I got more than halfway through the game before I realized. Go to Rakia's Store -> Manage Units -> (Select character) -> Train. ALL units are now customizable with added HP, SP, attack, defense, party bonuses and can learn just about every spell. It's amazing how much more beatable enemies suddenly got after pouring 20+ strength into Darx, Hydragon and Goliath (hamma no shori!). Picking up a Hydragon when they become available is recommended. They can see hidden doors without wasting an item slot and this becomes more useful as time goes on. Succubi can too, but you can't hire them as quickly. Special Gunguskar Services are not explained very well in the game. The number of Special Gunguskar Points you have in any dungeon is equal the amount of renown/command you have when you enter the dungeon for the first time. Each time you leave the dungeon these are reset to your maximum for that dungeon. This lets you revive monsters for free, something you should abuse as money is scarce. Loading up on stat boosters before a 15 plus backup units on 6 fight isn't a bad indea either. It has taken fights from borderline unwinnable to not so bad. Other useful information here: http://softhousechara.wikia.com/wiki/Bunny_Black_2
  22. Those issues should be fixed in 1.3.2. I've confirmed Michelangelo's sprite works properly now. The one I linked should have been included in 1.3.2 but was an oversight. It fixes Shambala with Michelangelo, Kojiro and the other two in your party. At least it doesn't crash as soon as I start the fight, haven't gone through the 9th floor yet thanks to Bunny Black 2. That link and 1.3.2 should take care of all crashes and problems in the English version AFAIK.
  23. There are definitely missable events, but I won't know how many or if I missed them until I clear the game. So far I've noticed a lot of events using the same CGs, and some of the H scenes are based around events in the story, so if you move too fast it would be theoretically possible to miss them. There was a good stretch where I got at least one event every time I came back from fighting random monsters, and I'd assume they would be missable if I moved too fast. I'm in Flame of Valor and you will definitely miss events if you don't kill the yellow enemies here.
  24. I have a few tips for you guys getting started. I found out that if you import your save from BB1, you are automatically given the highest difficulty level. That explains why these guys remain strong no matter how many levels I gain. It's something to consider. My observation is that it isn't difficult so much as time consuming so you may not want to do it your first time through. You'll get Liz and Maki after you beat the game, and keep the monsters you use anyway. You'll start finding all kinds of treasure for selling that doesn't sell for a lot. Don't sell it to Rakia right away. After enough events take place she will buy these in quantity for much higher prices and give you quality items as well. This is going to become your primary source of income for donations and monsters as you don't get much from random encounters. Don't be afraid to abuse the crap out of the save anywhere feature. I already have more saves than I did through nearly 5 runs of BB1. You will always have access to the dungeons, so don't be afraid to retreat back home to heal. Actually, you should err on the side of doing so as much as you can. So far it seems like there are more events and H scenes relative to the progression of the game than there were in the first one.
  25. Amazing news people! The Shambala 9th floor crash in Eiyuu*Senki was actually fixed and they just forgot to update it in the patch. Here's a link to the fixed file originally posted on Hongfire. http://rghost.net/7cwx296Gy
