I've been planning on getting to it once I know Japanese. I don't want to play an incomplete English patch after all.

I've never played a YuzuSoft VN before so I won't know yet if I'm excited for this. Moege isn't really a genre I prefer over others, but I'm willing to try their library out.

I don't think I can this week because of all the work I already have to do today, but when Spring Break comes around, I'll try it out. Everybody else that I've talked to says that learning the grammar should come first and then when you're reading your first VN, you will pick up words on your own.

Also, 600000 dollars would get you more than just one translation. I wish I could study Japanese right now, but school and english backlog are killing me currently so I don't think I'll be onto learning Japanese until I get a long break and don't have any english backlog to worry about.

You need to use freetranslation. They have good translations for stuff like spanish and french, but for Japanese, forget about it and learn Japanese.

We're just trying to convert another person here to learning Japanese and not be one of those people who complains about not getting translations they want.

Yeah. You just have to have enough motivation to learn and practice a lot of grammar concepts, vocabulary, and of course, Kanji. If you really want to read a certain VN, don't wait for it to be translated because the likely outcome is it won't happen and if it does, it's not gonna happen within the period of time you could have gotten really good at reading Japanese.

If people are gonna complain about it, then at least attempt to learn Japanese and if you can't, then you might as well accept the fact that not everything people want is gonna get translated. There are other factors present to localization than just what the fans want.

There is no such thing as a good machine translator and there won't be for a long time. The best use for Chiitrans, TA and other programs like that are for assisting you in learning Japanese.

It's probably gonna lose, people will be pissed off, and I'll be watching it all go down, wondering why people found this to be such a big deal. Hell, even the TM fans won't be happy because they probably don't realize that the winner isn't a for sure translation.

From what I've played, it's also gotten worse since the first VN. It's like the side route from Majikoi took over half of Majikoi S.

All these people complaining about the licensing top 10 like they're actually gonna be translated. Seriously, it's just a survey. Just like the tournament, nothing is officially confirmed to actually be released just because it made the top 10. I imagine MangaGamer is gonna try to get the licenses, but nothing is confirmed until there's an official announcement.

I'm voting Muramasa and Dies Irae personally. Those two need to be translated even if the tournament won't necessarily make that happen.

Exactly. I know that a few really interesting VNs I found on VNDB won't be translated which is why I'm learning Japanese to read them. It's a lot better than waiting for a fan translation that isn't guaranteed to finish. Don't remind me.
