The hype. It's too much. I may explode at any moment -
seamlessly looping bgm
john 'mr. customer' smith replied to john 'mr. customer' smith's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Thanks for your opinion, but I'm not going to give up on my theory that there's more behind it than that. There are vn companies that are known for having much more attention for details like that than Key. -
I'm not trying to speak for anyone else, but I find that, in a vn, when a track loops by fading out and in again, it's always kind of immersion-breaking, and it makes me wonder why they don't just loop them seemlessly, without interruption. From my limited experience, I only know one vn that does this with some of its tracks, and that's Planetarian. Obviously, the engine needs to be capable of it and the composer needs to compose and arrange his tracks in a specific way for it to work, but overall, I can't imagine it to be too difficult. So what do you guys'ngals think? Why is this feature so rare? What are advantages and disadvantages to consider as a dev? Or am I just completely wrong and are there actually loads of vns that do it? I can kinda think of a reason that's specific to Planetarian for doing it, but I need to think about that for a bit longer, and I just want to hear your opinions first.

I get so angry about trains from Railway company x sometimes. They get delayed so often it's not even funny. You know what's worse? They even have the audacity to let other trains depart even before my delayed train arrives! It's pathetically obvious that they are a shamelessly disorganized company, and they deserve to be wiped out in a sudden magical outburst of socio-economic justice. Really, I despise other people sometimes, being so ignorant of all this, giving them all that money they don't deserve a cent of, just living their ignorant lives. The fools. If you want to get places, just get a car, duh Trust me, I understand these things.

Really nice. The translation felt very natural.

I can't draw for shit, but this seems quite interesting! I like the idea of basing a story on a dream and your sprites seem pretty good. Good luck with this!- 1 reply

Favorite Visual Novel Artists
john 'mr. customer' smith replied to mitchhamilton's topic in General Discussion
I'm gonna be a massive hypocrite for this one I disagree with a lot of people here on what 'good art' means. To me, a lot of the art that gets praised around here doesn't feel like art to me, it just feels like pretty pictures, it just feels like high quality moe fanservice. I don't dislike this kind of work, even less so the people that love it, but to me, art should be artistic. It should speak, it should have a personality of its own, it should explore the boundaries of familiarity. Just my opinion though. Oishi ryuuko best guy -
Two potentially good vn to come soon
john 'mr. customer' smith replied to Tweek91330's topic in Visual Novel Talk
from what I've heard, it has been pretty much finished for quite some time, but Baba recently pushed the release date from spring this year to 'sometime this year' because he wasn't happy with the sound effects or something. So much for releasing it in their 15th anniversary year -

[forum game] Hero or Villain?

villain Royce Bracket Yes, it's my old avatar, shut up. Hero or villain? -
I feel you there though, I had exactly the same feeling about clannad, and I don't even regret that thought afterwards Whatever you can do to find meaning in your life, just do it. There's no pressure to do it right, no one owes you anything. In the end, your happiness is all that matters, and how you make it is completely up to you. Just don't kill anyone, ok? :kappa: Seriously though, don't hesitate to get all the help you can get, from us or from professionals

What manga are you currently reading?

Now reading Yotsuba&! and Berserk at the same time, which is surreal, to say the least -

I don't actually remember most of the names, but I'm currently eating some yuzu gummies and there's some weird crackers and an empty bottle that contained 100% artificial melon softdrink. one of those ones sealed with a glass ball that drops down and rolls around the top part I also tried bubble tea for the first time, thinking it was just carbonated tea. that became one of the weirdest drinking experiences of my life. I'm inexperienced, don't judge me -

Assuming you're talking about the one in The Hague, yup. it was a German guy and he sold a bit of 18+ manga as well. that 'no bags in the dealer room' policy though -

Today, i went to a local(ish) anime con with a friend, and i picked up a hardcopy of saya no uta, the first 2 volumes of yotsuba&! and some imported snacks. overall, a good day! Edit: By the way, that hardcopy was 50 fucking euros, even though it only costs 25 on jlist grumble grumble I was surprised by how little I was embarassed buying it though, even though it was basically the only stand with any porn, and had a big sign saying 'Interactive hentai games!' and was also surrounded by Naruto fanboys pointing and laughing at the softhouse seal-boobies. I bet they secretly wished they could muster the courage -
actually, a little while before that even

I know, I was being sarcastic, to be honest. I don't even think you'll be able to make much of a difference even on patreon. As long as shiny tits make money, they won't try anything very different from that. As for the reputation of visual novels, I don't think there's anything we can do about the negative image. All we can hope to achieve is to make people aware that good VNs exists as well.

Just discovered this whole thread, I've seen some awesome stuff here! I probably need to clean up -
https://twitter.com/wingedcloudvn Why don't you go tell them that yourself and see if how they respond? No offense, but all of this has been said enough times already. People buy what they want, succesful companies make what people buy. Every content creator also wants to make something good, but in the end, money is what matters All we can do about it is promote the stuff we think is good
