Can't forget about SPYAIR. This always pumps me up! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDIUyyQqQ_M

And I ended up finishing Baldr Sky instead of studying... Procrastinating: it's so wrong but feels soooo good.

Recommendation thread that hopefully isn't annoying!

When I said it only had a bit of romance, I just meant that it puts less focus on the romance part of it compared to other visual novels. Sorry if that sounded misleading. There definitely is romance and I don't think you will be disappointed in the way that it is presented. It was just that the romance plays a secondary role because it just has such a driving plot with great characters. There are just so many other awesome things in this visual novel besides the romance and that is what made me like this visual novel. -
All-Stars rigged confirmed. Top 5 champs is Team LCK Bottom 5 champs is Team LPL

I don't really know how far you have gotten yet but Sharin no Kuni is a visual novel that deals with the growth of the characters and how they confront their own issues. There is a bit of romance but it mainly focuses around questioning of values of different things such as usage of time, independence and love. I liked this game for the following points 1. The protagonist Morita Kenichi is a very crazy and unique individual that seems to be cold and calculative but at the same time inexperienced and naive. Overall, we have a very funny and hopeless individual that is still able to take action according to what he believes. He is an inspiring character because even though he considers himself weak and a coward, he still has the courage to step forward to face that weakness. 2. Character growth and development The way in which they face their problems and reach a resolution was truly well done. Each character has their own weakness that they have already come to accept but they are pulled out of that complacency to once and for all resolve that weakness. 3. Society incarnate, Houzuki Masaomi The way in which Houzuki Masaomi was depicted was really badass. I mean he just shoots one of the cadets in one of the opening scenes for being late! He truly stands as the antagonist, always showing the most efficient and cold way of resolving issues. His ideals stand in direct confrontation with the protagonist which gives rise to the conflict in the story. I never really understood what he was thinking even after finishing the visual novel and it was really when I played the sequel that I understood his true character. -
Just reading Baldr Sky final route and it is mindblowing!! Even though I should be studying for finals...

Looking for romance VN with badass protagonist

Unfortunately they are not. Aiyoku no Eustia and Akatsuki no Goei has a partial patch and Baldr Sky has no progress. -
Were the dreams something like this? But I must agree that this series especially at the beginning is very addicting because I remember a similar experience when I was basically just reading this for like a whole week.

It really all started with animes such as Inuyasha, Gundam Seed and Naruto that got me interested in Otaku culture. My first ever visual novel was StartRain and it left a good impression but it never got me hooked on visual novels. It was only when I found out there was this awesome site called "Fuwanovel" with all the download links that really got me interested in visual novels. (Before, I just didn't know where to find visual novels) This was the summer of 2014 and that was when I started my spree of visual novels. But the funny thing is that I still have some visual novels from last year sitting in my computer that I still haven't touched.

Looking for romance VN with badass protagonist

From the narrow list of visuals novels that I have played, only a few come into mind Caim Astraea (Freelancer ex-Assassin) from Aiyoku no Eustia Asagiri Kaito (Professional trained Oujo-sama bodyguard) from Akatsuki no Goei Kadokura Kou (Virtual reality Mecha-pilot) from Baldr Sky -
Having read this recently, I must agree that it was really slow read at times and that the ending for some reason did not want to be logical. However, were the routes really that bad in terms of writing and structure? When I was reading my first route, it was engaging and did set up a nice atmosphere. I think it was the fact that the routes had a lot of overlap and only subtle clues that makes it a boring read.

My detailed reflections on the true end of Ever17
Bastian77 replied to Funyarinpa's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I just had some questions about some of the foreshadowing hints and things that I didn't understand. These are spoilers so only read if you finished the game. -
What do you guys think about VN like majikoi ?
Bastian77 replied to black-cat's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I feel that Yamato isn't necessarily overwhelmed by the presence of strong girls, sure he gets harassed physically but he isn't some useless protagonist. He actually takes action in his own way even though he might be inferior in strength compared to the other girls. And ya as mentioned before, there are strong male characters in S and A, they just haven't been fully introduced yet. -
Just finished Ever17 and it really was a mind-blowing experience! Now, I think after a bit of rest, I'm going to be restarting Baldr Sky because I need something with gameplay after all that reading.

Playing Ever17 and still waiting to be mind blown.

After continually getting the bad ends on Clannad, it convinced me to just use a walkthrough so that I don't waste time. Someday, I would like to reach the level where I can make the perfect choices without a walkthrough just like a certain kami-sama, however that is but a dream still far far away~

What makes Grisaia no Kajitsu so great?
Bastian77 replied to starlessn1ght's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I think Grisaia is rated so highly because it is a visual novel that does a lot of things right. 1. The main characters are very interesting. Each main character has their own particular traits that goes beyond the surface because the characters have a sense of depth that you get to explore as you play the routes. The most eye-catching character would have to be the protagonist because he is a tough and reliable individual that seems to demand your attention. He is cynical and crass at times but still has a gentle and compassionate side to him. 2. The plot features some darker themes that contrast heavily to the comedic slice of life common route. As you progress further into the routes, it deals with the dark parts of human nature and raises questions about extreme situations. It appeals to our fascination towards the wrong and vicariously guides us through extreme situations; in which we sympathize with the main characters. This brings out a greater sense of connection with the main characters that we got to know so well during the long common route. 3. Colorful and crisp artwork. I think that the artwork is actually one of key factors why this is so well received. Whether consciously or unconsciously, the artwork does play a part in how you interpret a game because we are just naturally attracted to beautiful things and tend to view them more favorably. Even though it may not be the deciding factor, it really does make the visual novel a complete package. -
Thanks, I love sexy onee-chans! Unfortunately, I don't know Japanese but I use Aral trans to read untranslated VNs.

A visual novel that left a big impact on me recently was Saya no Uta. I started playing the game thinking that it was just gonna be a grotesque and horrifying experience but it was actually a very intriguing and moving experience. I felt that this visual novel really brings out the notions of the "fascination of the abomination," in that we are sometimes subconsciously attracted to the sight of something horrible and disgusting. I know that was probably the reason that I decided to play this because I was curious and attracted to what people described as the most messed up visual novel ever. But what really got me was that under the grotesque background and inhuman changes of the protagonist, I still felt like there was something undeniably beautiful about this work. Overall, it was a messed up experience but it really got me thinking about the "don't judge a book by its cover" phrase to a whole new meaning.

Hi everyone! I've always been a fan of visual novels since way back but it is only recently that I have taken a deep interest in them. (This is mostly because my usb port on my laptop is not working properly and I can't play League of Legends anymore lol.) Anyways I'm probably going to be playing more VNs and since I have more time, I decided to join the forum. My first ever visual novel would be StarTRain and recently I have finally started playing Sharin no Kuni, even though I had it on my computer for like a year already. As for a favorite visual novel, I would have to say it would either be Rewrite, Aiyoku no Eustia or G-senjou. That is about it for my introduction and nice to meet everyone!
