I don't write about myself since I'm obviously biased towards myself in some fashion.

Favorite-character wise, the first thing that comes to mind is the protagonist from an OELVN I'm writing, Narakawa Hanase. Though that's probably cheating. Other than that, it would have to be Beatrice of Umineko. Favorite Route after some thought would have to be Akane's route from Rewrite. The game as a whole had its off moments but good damn that was a crazy ride.

Confession: I feel conflicted over my writing output being too slow. Am I too attached to the current project to the point where it'd be easier to jump on something else? I can't tell ><;;

But it's too hard. Q_Q

I wish it were easier to have waifu-related dreams. They only come up so often Q_Q

Persona 4 Golden Danganronpa series Disgaea ports That's what comes to mind.

I think that would imply he left it on overnight one time perhaps.

Wait, is this for real? Another one already!?

A VN that comes out on my birthday? ...Nope. Not getting it. You can't make me.

You forgot to post the picture.

Email is fine, I'll PM mine over. I'm writing something myself at the moment, so perhaps I could ask your group for feedback as well?
-
Hello there! The world most certainly does need more talented OELVN writers out there. Are you comfortable with showing any drafts? Feedback would most certainly help in figuring out where your strengths/weaknesses lie.

At a first glance, a 'VNs you need to play before you die' list at face value would take both quality and variety into account, trying to give a wide enough range of experiences to give a fair judge of the quality as a whole, rather than simply a list of ones' personal favorites (though they certainly are a factor). Emotional variety, setting and tone are things to keep in note, as is whether or not gameplay elements were introduced. I would perhaps go with... -Umineko No Naku Koro Ni -Fate/Stay Night -Clannad/Little Busters! (Clannad if you're reading the original Japanese or if a stronger translation comes along from Sekai, Little Busters! if otherwise.) -Sekien No Inganock -Majikoi -G-Senjou -Daibanchou/Sengoku Rance (Interchangeable as a slot for Alicesoft's rather unique take on things, though I prefer the former for its stronger emotional grounding) -Subarashiki Hibi -Dies Irae -Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors Some of these I haven't read yet, and the untranslated entries are assuming you know Japanese itself. Special mention goes to Forest for being so adamantly out there that it works as an 11th pick for those looking for even further variety, and Katawa Shoujo for being a take on the English VN landscape's earliest success within their section of the industry. If you're looking for further details, the emotional impact of the work is by far the most valuable piece of a work, but how you go about doing that varies from work to work. The ways you can hit someone like a truck are many, but some are usable in only very few circumstances depending on the tone and context of the work. Rosa's 'big moment' regarding Sakutarou (YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN) in episode 4 was incredibly powerful, but throw it into something like Majikoi and it wouldn't work as well because the tone and core emotions of the story are so very different. It also depends on the length of the story itself and the resources you have available. Oftentimes something that can make a VN strong is knowing what to pull from other works and how it meshes with the pre-existing tools inside the story as a whole. Aside from that, the English Visual Novel scene is still growing in terms of development, and while we have a strong fanbase most of the high-quality VNs still come out of Japan. Outside of Katawa Shoujo which was developed over here, and something like Cross Channel which suffered from a subpar fan-translation, I wouldn't be surprised if the differences between the two regions were very minimal.

I do have interest, though the majority of my mental energy is redirected in other directions at the moment, and I'd lack the remaining mental energy for a higher-level entry entry post in terms of both writing/image manipulation (as I don't have photoshop and gimp isn't my specialty.) I could give a barebone introduction that could perhaps work out, as I have a general idea character-wise, but I'm unsure if that would be acceptable at the moment. If it would be alright, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I GOT THAT FUCKING REFERENCE o_o

Welcome! Hope you find the place friendly. I've heard the community can be a bit hectic at times, but we all mean well at least. Pleased to meet you!

Very nice to meet you, Nao - as others have stated before, it's really great to see the international VN community as a whole start to come together like this. Before a year or two ago communication was low between Japan and everywhere else in terms of VN development, and even today the OELVN (Original English Language Visual Novel) community is perhaps arguably still pulling from a chunk of anime tropes while still figuring out how exactly to get these things finished in a reasonable way. Depending on how you look at it, the genre is still perhaps in its infancy from an international perspective. A good majority of the OELVN market seems to be low-mid level quality stuff pulling at things they think the VN audience might want at random, usually incorrectly. The closest thing we have to stuff like, Fate/Stay Night, Umineko or the MuvLuv trilogy developed outside Japan would have to be Katawa Shoujo, though you could certainly call it a stretch to compare the two groups regardless. Oftentimes you'll find some of them tend to underplay the importance of the writing itself, so keep that and the translation quality as a priority and I think you'll do reasonably well. Personally I'm the kind who would rather bash the audience in the gut emotionally, though that depends on the tone of the story as a whole. Anyway, I wish you and your team good luck in your endeavors! Please try not to get discouraged - things may perhaps be confusing at first but hopefully everyone will be able to enjoy these soon enough

Would You Be Interested In A Umineko Replay With Others From Fuwa?
Zodai replied to Funyarinpa's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Confession: I thought that said 'roleplay' at first ;-; I'm probably a bit busy myself, that said I wish everyone the best of luck! -
The first three episodes are reasonable enough, just that after that you have to stop watching and pretend the show was better than what it turned out to be.
