Pretty much what Down said, really. Obviously we don't know your exact sensibilities, but I wouldn't call the gore in KnS exceptionally disturbing. This is coming from someone whose a pretty big horror movie fan, though. On the plus side, finding the game disturbing might actually better your experience with the game.

^^ Goblin Auto-Barber pretty much seems like an auto-pick in arena for rogue.

Oh, yeah. That too. I wasted my time grinding out a golden rogue back when Miracle was in its heyday, and haven't touched it since naxx + the leeroy nerf. So it'll be nice to see what GvG will mean for rogues.

Common routes in visual novels usually give the reader some kind of expectation of what's to come, in some shape or form. Even without that, anyone who's watched or read enough stories probably has a decent grasp on storytelling tropes and cliches. So we all likely have some kind of expectation when we start on a new route in a visual novel. It could be a simple expectation of quality, an expectation of atmosphere and tone, or even an expectation of what's to come. So I wanted to ask, what character route in which visual novel surprised you the most? Maybe you had zero expectations for a route and it ended up being exceptional? Maybe the one you anticipated would be your favorite ended up being a disappointment? Perhaps the route took a sudden, dark turn you did not see coming or it even ended up being unexpectedly soul-crushing. After thinking about it a little bit, I'm surprised to say Wanko's route in Majikoi best suits the question for me. Given the the kind of VN it is and the game's general tone, I was surprised at how touching it ended up being and the extent of the character development that was shown. On top of that, she was the character I was least interested in reading a route for. So her route ending up being my favorite of the four translated ones came as a surprise to me. Letting everyone one know that everyone got a free arena run yesterday and you can now draft GvG cards. Anyone else pretty excited for this expansion? I mainly play control warrior, but come the 8th I can't wait to tinker around with midrange mage.

I think it's worth a try. In my experience they're usually harmless additions to a page. Plus, I can see it being fun. I just hope it doesn't have an annoying sound.

Personally, I think the idealization of any character (across any medium) is a tricky thing. Obviously, you want a story to avoid having a Mary Sue (warning: TV Tropes) type character, but at the same time exceptional characters make for an exciting story if done right. There's also the bizarre problem of when we let fictional characters in fictional stories influence us in how we regard the world and people around us. I've known people in real life describe their ideal girl in terms of anime archetypes, just as I've had one girlfriend who's entire notion of romance seemed influence by romantic movies. It's interesting to think about how the media we consume has an outward affect on how we regard each other.

Oh, and just wanted to also say that the new blog looks nice. I don't know if you guys used a template or not, but whoever had a hand in that: good job!

Okay people, I know this is a hard sell since this is the internet, but can we steer this conversation away from the toxic turn it has taken? This is obviously an area of great contention, meaning it is a worthwhile discussion topic. HOWEVER, wouldn't it be better to talk about h-scenes in context of the industry, how they're used and misused, and our personal feelings on them without derisively calling each others perverts and otherwise continuing to flog a dead horse? At some point (lol not really, I know), you've just got to concede that your opinions diverge and that nothing productive will happen if you continue with specific threads of the conversation.
