@Jun Inoue - That sounds fun In fact, I think I am not surprised at all ... I saw Alex Jones shilling for Trump so my next best guess is that Trump might put Alex in charge of mainstream media next

Dreams and goals you once persued.

I wish you luck on your journey to a "dream-came-true" But aren't you aware of the already available VN engines out there? There's several of them that are used for creating visual novels ... I am planning on learning Unity as an engine one day, though I am no good writer so I cannot create a novel sadly xD ... -
Not just English, for all I know it's used widely by all nationalities (including Spanish, Russian, German, etc.)

I understand that but I have yet to see Trump delivering on his words and promises ... His way of manipulating has proven to be a success story but I am not eager to believe that he is a new Hitler until I see him at the helm and what he will really do when he enters the Oval office. My opinion of him is that he is a whacko and that he will be full of surprises but until he really starts delivering on his words, I am going to have to assume that it was all just empty talk for the masses. He will probably do some damage but I don't believe that he will really bring out a nuclear apocalypse as some people claim. As I said already, he talks a lot and a lot of that stuff is just hot steam coming from an angry whacko. He is just using sentences that he knows some people would like to hear ... Apparently there are people in the USA who love hearing catchy slogans like "LOCK HER UP!" or "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN" and similiar. In fact, that attitude which you are speaking of is EXACTLY what I think that helped him become the president. The fact that he isn't politically correct and tries to presents himself as some kind of an anti-establishment politician is what helped him drive his campaign. So apparently, there are people who love that attitude of his. I know that it's a very bad idea to use such rhetorics (divisive, racist politics) but that just proves to me that in USA there are enough people with whom such ideas resonate very well or they don't even care about it (enough to make them even vote for him instead of choosing Hillary, that just tells me there's enough people who consider him as a lesser evil) ... You can't tell me that all of his nearly 60,000,000 voters were all members of KKK ... I will believe it when I see it But ... considering all of his scandals, he wouldn't be a very wise person to suddenly decide on becoming a moral judge ... Which reminds me he isn't wise at all XDD Yeah, I get your point Let's hope he never finds out about VNs then Well, speaking of not caring, neither do I Besides, for somebody who dislikes talking about politics I have already said more than I really wanted to, so I am done with this thread ... I am sorry for all the citizens of the USA but Trump's presidency will not be the end of the world
-
About the giant wall thing, it will never happen and I am willing to bet my money on it ... You take too much things Trump says for granted, he is a populist, he talks a lot and a bunch of things he says aren't going to happen, here in Serbia we have populists like him, they only talk big but when they need to do something real, they are nowhere to be found. The giant wall with Mexico is never going to happen, for many different reasons. As for 80s, I don't know anything about PMRC, I wasn't alive at that time. As for banning Japanese obscene stuff (where VNs also come into play), I don't really see it happening, unless some higher forces were to come into play. I am more worried about copyright laws and Trump ... But that's another matter ... People rise and fall, so will Trump, every populistic politican out there eventually runs out of fuel ... Besides, from what I have heard, both Clinton and Trump are disliked very much so this whole voting between those two was more like voting against the other candidate so he/she doesn't win, I think that this is so far the worst president election cycle in the history of the USA, having two such candidates is by itself a defeat for USA, either of them winning is a lost battle for the general public and I see no reason for people to be so angry about it right now, anybody who has even remotely followed the election could see how bad the options really were ...
-
Is Trump planning to go to war with Japan maybe? I didn't hear of that one xDD ... Yeah, politics is important but being angry and emotional like some people are right now isn't going to help in the politics discussion, in fact, it's just going to make matters worse because of so many conflicting opinions on the matter and the way some people are engaging in the politics discussion makes me dislike the subject as a whole even more (it's not related to Fuwa, I am talking about it in general, the net is literally on fire with angry Clinton and Trump fans who are threating with killing each other and what-not) ...
-
I didn't mean to say that many comments are ignorant ... But ... Yeah ... some comments are just ... I think you understand what I wanted to say xD That's why I dislike politics and respect people who try to avoid it as much as possible ... The fact that so many netizens are freaking out over Trump's victory is like looking at bunch of people being butt-hurt and very emotional over something that they can't control ... I think many aren't able to think rational right now because of all of these emotions that are being generated at such a short notice ...

Ahaha No biggie, it happens to me too sometimes

I checked the VN page of that game aswell as the scores, you are right, there are 3 hidden votes that we aren't seeing but one of these that we can see is a decimal, 9.4 ... I am guessing that in the sum of all votes, it doesn't go with integer numbers ... Instead it goes with numbers exactly as they are put so if there's a mark with a decimal point, it will not go as a 9, instead it will go as 9.4, hence the different average number at the end ... The graph doesn't represent these decimal number ratings, instead it shows them as the closest integer number to them.

The only comment I really respect here, too bad I used all of my likes for today xD ...

Yeah, that's true indeed, he does remind me of Trump very much No problem, it was late time in Hungary too I usually go to sleep very late xD ... Personally, I don't find it that much important for me but I do guess whatever happens will definitively have huge implications for the whole world. I don't like neither of those two candidates but I know there will never be a third option sadly ... Some late news here are saying Trump is winning important swing states so I am guessing he might really win it after all ... Oh yeah, we derailed this thread so hard after I got my anwsers for the questions JAST is always in the coma, it looks like it's sleeping all the time, in fact sometimes I feel like going to Peter Payne's twitter account just to confim that he is alive ... It's good you mentioned Supipara, I was checking on it several days ago and apparently, the funding for it has really stalled, it's barely moving for the last several months, I am afraid it's going to tank sadly ... So much for minori's idea to make that funding project succesfull, apparently it's not working very well ... There was like supposed to be 5 chapters for it but it's not even moving in a considerable pace, getting to 200 000 might be the only thing it will accomplish and that's just maybe ... They need to sell a lot of copies of eden and Supipara to make this work. Ahahaha, good point But I think IMHHW sold well even despite the existence of that review (I think I have heard that on this forum too) ... Speaking of MoeNovel, their marketing strategy looks like its working very well for them.

Oh, sorry, I won't I promise ... Though you must agree with me that whenever something about Hungary happens, it's related to him, basically any news we get here has something to do with him doing something or saying something ... Isn't that Denpasoft and Sekai Project? I thought Degica was a totally different company O_O
-
In Serbia, it's 3:36 ... Trump is leading, that's the last I heard a minute ago xD ... But why do we care about their elections? xD
-
I see ... I guess he keeps it private then which is okay, I am just hoping that he earns enough through everything because I would be pretty sad one day if VNDB is gone, I guess I took its existence for granted until I thought about how every site out there needs to run on a web server and hosting is neccesary for site's breathing ... Digital economy is important on the web ... Serbia is also a haven for piracy xD I guess it's true what they say, as you go more to the east in Europe, piracy is more tolerated ... Interesting about the "preemptive" piracy measures, it's first time I am hearing of something like that xD ... Though I remember hearing about Orban's great ideas of Internet taxing and what-not I guess at the end that idea of his fell into the bottom of the hell where it came from, ahaha Yeah, that's it But that's because Sekai managed to pickup those titles and all of them had anime beforehand ... Muv Luv? Isn't that localized by Degica? For me, "marketing" is any kind of promotion, either bad or good, I know Fuwa isn't really associated with any of the VN localization companies and it's pretty much neutral on the matter. I know you probably don't look at it like that but I think of any kind of interview as a way for developer to present the product. I didn't read that interview with SP you made so I don't know what it is about and can't really say anything about it. But I do believe you it's not about the promotion of SP, I know it's just for getting some information from them and presenting it to us here. In my earlier post I was just mentioning where I hear about SP the most and that's definitively Fuwa, 4chan and Reddit (this is related to the fact on how I browse the Internet and which sites I visit). That's true, I don't really pay attention to their twitter, I mentioned that already I think somewhere earlier. I did exagarate a bit about that part of their marketing efforts, I don't know how much they really spend on it.
-
Interesting, I didn't know that ... I thought it was the donations that were running this site.
-
I used to read about MG a lot on Siliconera and there's been a recent interview on dualshockers with them ... Here too ... This one is about the MG scammer ... And so on, every now and then, MG is featured in some media ... At least that's the impression I am getting though it's probably related to the fact that I generally follow these things, it's not like they are doing anything special I guess ...

Okay, my bad, so it's not sponsorship, referral links are useless if nobody buys through them ... @Warfoki did Yorhel ever mention how much of these referral links actually brought any real money for the site? I remember you said that Yorhel said it was enough but did he say how much is actually enough for the site to run? Okay, I will not quote you on that but it seems very likely true I know Ivan is from Ukraine and I know that Ukraine is kind of a piracy haven for sites like EG ... I think Kickasstorrents was also based in Ukraine or its owner was from there A lot of piracy is going on in Ukraine and Russia ... Though don't get me wrong here, I also use piracy to get VNs (right now, the only viable option for me to buy some VNs is through Steam but that's pretty limited considering I am mostly into adult titles, I am not from USA) ... I find interesting what you said about EG, especially the downloadani.me part ... This is the first time I am hearing of it being by the same owner. Though I find that one rather hard to believe because I remember that Ivan used Mediafire and Rapidshare early on and he even mentioned several times some European laws on data storage or something like that ... I find it hard to believe he suddenly decided to run a cyberlocker site ... But I guess it could be true O_O ... Anyway, thanks for your valuable input
-
Yeah, that about erogegames part, I have noticed it too several months ago ... I didn't even know that those were referral links What an irony!! Speaking of it, how come not one of these VN localization companies aren't coming after that site? It's been in bussiness for so long and I always wondered how it survived, all piracy sites that I know of usually die after several years of service ... Yeah, I exagarated a little bit on that part, sorry ... It's just that I always feel like MG and JAST are doing more on promotion, especially MG, they are always doing interviews and they seem to be very active on social media.
-
Yeah, exactly, that's a good example you gave ... I edited my previous post because I think I exagarated a little bit ... I know that major players in the twitch/youtube scene get good cash for some of their streamings and that's not the only source of their income, there's an entire bussiness going on behind streaming and I think that's one of the best ways of marketing games ... I know visual novels can't compete with "real games" so I am not really expecting that much from Sekai ... VN localization bussiness isn't that profitable and nobody is going to get rich on it, I think MG also had financial issues at the beginning when they were starting (SP is in that phase right now, if I am not wrong, they exist since 2014 or 2015) ... I know they cannot pay that much for marketing purposes so they have to rely on the already established VN fanbase that's dependant on JAST and MG ... Speaking of that, I think that Nekopara's success was a mere lucky coincidence ... Just look at Corona Blossom, it's a similiar approach but not even close as a success that had Nekopara ...
-
Ahahahaha LOL Oh, sorry to bother you, I was originally hoping somebody on Fuwa will know the answers but I guess I should have posted on VNDB first (I am missing common logic sometimes xD) Oh, I see ... Now that you mention it, I don't even remember SP doing any kind of real marketing ever ... Only time I hear about them is when the kickstarter session begins, I rarely see any kind of advertisement from them unless I hear it from somebody else (word of mouth approach) ... I remember Nekopara rocketing high because of youtube celebs so I guess if they ever wanted to really market a VN they published, they should pay youtube celebs xD ... Edit: Okay, I am exagareting a little bit, they still do marketing here and there, I am not following them on twitter and such so I can't really say whether they are marketing enough or not ... I think I mostly hear about them on Fuwa, whenever something happens with them, I hear about it here on Fuwa so I think I could safely say that this site really do some kind of marketing for SP even though they aren't paid for that (as far as I know xD) ...

I have been looking up now and it seems that only MangaGamer and J-List are popping up in "Available at" sponsored sections ... For Sekai titles, it doesn't link neither to Steam store page nor the denpasoft site ... Look at Grisaia for example Grisaia is available at J-list and play-asia store for PSP ... It looks like Sekai isn't sponsoring on VNDB so only MG and JAST are there on the site as sponsors so far.
-
Okay, @yorikbad , thank you, somebody answered on my questions on VNDB right now, I will just quote him here: Now that's interesting, about the funding, I did notice these links for store pages on English localized VNs but I never thought those were sponsored But it makes sense now, I guess ... Though I don't know if it's enough to fund VNDB ... I am guessing Yorhel still donates some of his money for the site's cause. He seems to be really devoted to VNDB, I never knew VNDB was so old (9 years so far) ...
-
That kind of makes me sad (the 7.5 part) ... That's why I asked that, I am kind of against allowing Edelweiss to get an 8 from me xD But I guess I will just have to deal with it (maybe I should lower it to 7.4 then, ahaha ) ... Yeah, Wikipedia is also on donations as far as I know, anyway, I guess we are going to learn the truth soon because now the question is also posted on VNDB ... I have learned that VNDB was created in 2007 and that the main administrator of the site and its creator was someone by the handle Yorhel ... He is the main developer of the site, I am guessing that he will maybe answer on the question of funds if and when he sees that thread on VNDB ...

7+8=15 ... 15/2=7.5 ... Am I missing something? xD

That's what I have been thinking too ... Just look at the numbers on the left side where the "Database Statistics" box is located ... It says that now there are 109 364 users registered ... I know not all of them are online all the time and some never even come but I am sure that at least ~20 000 people regularly come online and many of them like me are editing pages ... That's bound to make some traffic and put some pressure on the servers ... And they store lots of images besides just regular text ... Look at Fuwanovel for example ... This forum requires external hostings for images and even it requires some kind of donations to keep the site afloat and Fuwa surely doesn't have as much as traffic as VNDB ... So there must be somebody who pays for the server costs ... And if I am not mistaken, AniDB is also by the same people who created VNDB? (I think somebody mentioned that somewhere but I am not sure if it's true) ... I am guessing they are both hosted at the same place if that's the case ... There's heavy traffic going on, that I am definitively sure of ...
