Hmm, well I'd say you should read both Kyou's and Tomoyo's routes in Clannad because they are the best and the romance is well paced. As far as romance themed vns go I'd suggest maybe you look into Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate? I think as far as romance goes its alright. Surprisingly, one of my favorite romances was in Sekien no Inganock I found it to be incredibly bittersweet. I'd also suggest Highway Blossoms and Katahane because they are both good yuri vns Also I'd suggest you read some yuri manga's and take some inspiration from there. Still playing Fatal 12 and damn is it still finding ways of surprising me which is something that I absolutely love. Odette has definitely been my favorite characters so far, I adore her and her shark teeth. @adamstan I felt really differently about Nagisa I didn't like her at all, though I didn't hate her. In my eyes she is one of the worst examples of a character who has a random illness that makes them weak. You know the illness that just makes them weak but might also prove fatal later on. These are the characters that are designed for you to feel bad for them and want to protect them. And I absolutely hate that it feels like the story is trying to dictate how I'm supposed to feel. I want that to happen organically in a story. She also just didn't have much of a personality to me aside her love for her family and her obsession with dangos. I really felt that she lacked that substance the rest of the cast had. (Hell, even Fuko had more and she was like a space alien!) I did like her more when had the role of support character.

I've moved on to Fatal Twelve now and I am pretty far into it right now and I am loving it. I'm really impressed by the characters the writing and overall tone. I also like that it chooses to take the story in different directions to those I was expecting.

I would recommend Sekien no Inganock and Shikkoku no Sharnoth if you have not already played them, for they are quite poetic and avant-garde. I haven't played it yet but just looking at some of the images it is clear that The House in Fata Morgana is plenty artistic.

There needs to be a strong push in trying to put quality products out there that will sell. There also needs to be more engagement with fans of a specific sub genre (like yuri, BL, and otome) like, "Hey if you enjoy this yuri title you might be interested in this visual novel." I don't know man it would be nice if we would collectively try and move past the whole weird sex fetishy label that vns still get stigmatized by. I mean its not ever going to happen but it would be nice. It would also be cool if some of the strong jp vn companies would actually try and take some of their business outside of Japan and actually invest in the western market. It seems like they are struggling to sell in their own country and there is at least some sort of untapped potential here. Maybe the people behind Katawa Shoujo and DDLC should link up and try and combine their powers in order to make the next great vn. Also come on EVNs quit with the fucking high schools already. What most western people are nostalgic about is college not high school. Try to stand out from all the others.
