The youngest romancing character for VN/dating sim
Thyndd replied to Goddiga's topic in General Discussion
Don't worry, we won't tell the cops. They already know. -
I'm still doing my bachelors degree in physics Btw, is it common for people in India at college level to be educated in Sanskrit?
-
That's quite impressive. May I ask what's your academic field?

... aside from Japanese, which I assume every one of us here is pretty fond of So I had this idea and thought that could be interesting since from what I can see we are a fairly multicultural community. That should ward off the stereotypes or at least level it out somehow. So, with your consent, let's get started. As a huge language nerd that I am, I cannot for the life of me list all the languages that I happen to like, but let me at least call out some names, soshite, kono forums wa weeb dakara, let's weeb it up a little by providing some animu songs as samples. Arabic: I love its sound to bits. So badass yet so beautiful. The grammar is nothing short of amazing, you've gotta love semitic non-concatenative morphology. Song Slavic languages: particularly Czech, Polish and Russian. A lot of palatalization and sibilants, along with monstrous consonant clusters. They sound elegant, rich and complex but also sweet and cute. Song Song 2 Song 3 Hungarian: I like slavic, and Hungarian phonology, in spite of the fact that it doesn't have any relation to the slavic family (it's finno-ugric) kinda has a similar touch to it. That aside, I'm a big fan of agglutinating languages with vowel harmony. Song Turkish: have I said that I love agglutinating languages with vowel harmony? Besides, Turkish grammar is incredible, probably the most regular language on Earth. Song Chinese (mandarin) : I'll be honest with you, for the most part of my life, I didn't like chinese at all, nor any tonal languages for that matter. However, due to repetitive exposure and interest in its grammar, little by little I grew to like it quite a bit. Nowadays I find chinese to be a fascinating language with a ton of amazing linguistic features. Don't let the basic appearance of its grammar fool you, chinese is a very complex language at heart. Song German: fairly typical right? Everyone loves German these days. I guess it's the trend right now, probably born due to the number of german bands that started to crop up during this century. Not my case anyway. For me German sounds magical and unique. It's my favorite germanic language along with Icelandic. Song Aaaand I'll stop here. There are a lot more languages that I'd like to talk about, like Welsh and celtic languages, Icelandic, Swahili, Hawaiian, Nahuatl... But the list would not end and sadly I can't provide weeb stuff of those Now it's your turn. Let's see what you guys like, it should prove to be fun and interesting. Also, if you are ok with it, I'd be nice to know what languages you already speak, in order to see how this affects your taste. For the record, my native languages are Catalan and Spanish.

I finally finished Grisaia no Kajitsu, every route and every ending. Michiru's route was hmmm interesting, though the supernatural elements out of the blue, not present anywhere else in the VN, feel at least a little bit odd. But hey, overall interesting story, pretty emotional, her backstory was great and she's a fair contender for best girl position As for Yumiko, to be honest I thought the story was somewhat boring, very similar to Makina's story but without all that made it exciting. The girl was sweet though, I must admit, but that's par for the course in Grisaia. Now I got a hold of Little busters! English edition and I'm replaying it for the good old feels. I think it was like 2 or 3 years ago when I played it for the first time, so most important points are still fresh in my mind, but who cares, quality is quality.

Well, IRL I don't really care about incest, or whatever people do in their private life that doesn't hurt others, policy of mine. If they were to have children though, then I'd actually have an issue and the moral obligation to reprehend it, since it'd be causing harm to a third person who shouldn't bear the responsability for their parents deeds. Now, onto fiction. I can in theory appreciate a well-written incest story like any other. The incest element per se doesn't usually put me off, though I do agree with those of you who said that when it goes beyond siblings or cousins it tends to stir up some feeling of aversion, at least at first sight. Perhaps it's just due to the fact that I cannot wrap my head around how someone could develop romantic feelings or sexual desire for, say, their parents. That said, I'll always defend fiction's rights to explore any topic imaginable in every imaginable way. Not only it is entitled to do so, but it's a good thing to do since it shoves us out of our confort zone and makes us think about topics that often woudn't even cross our minds.

Spanish crap: Welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy your stay

Have fun with LB. I think I might also buy the steam version and give a replay to that fantastic VN Like you, I only played the fan translation back then.
-
Now I can fully comprehend what you meant. Holy f the girl is so sweet I think I might've got diabetes. And Yuuji is a coldhearted asshole for whatever reason. Fuck. I wish he were the same as in say Sachi's or Makina's route. It'd be a lot more enjoyable in my opinion. It's just too damn frustating how he treats the poor thing.
-
What I'm noticing though is that in this route Yuuji is a total jerk. Wtf? He's been a sarcastic person all along, but when the moment required it he knew how to be gentle and kind. I thought that was one important part of his characterization.

The best option I've ever seen in a VN is "Chest bounciness" in freaking Nekopara
-
That I did. Yes, I agree with you on that. The bad ending, as overblown as it was, felt a lot more powerful. Putting the route in comparison with the rest I've played so far, for me it'd be: Sachi > Amane > Makina Now onto Mitcher. I've already read a little, and I'm liking that sillygoose bottle-blond more than I expected.
-
Finished Amane's route in Grisaia.

Must be the organization

Hey, another physics student, hi there

Mai evil loli Tanya-chan 9/10

You don't say Yes, I guess I should've excluded that one too xD

Aside from playing VN, obviously, the reason why we are all here in the first place On my part, I love language, linguistics and on the more nerdy side, conlanging (that is, constructing lenguages. Yes, it is actually a thing). Also in the last 6 months I've picked up running as a habit, and now I am quite enjoying it. I guess another "hobby" of mine would be physics, but since it's what I actually study in college, I don't think it quite counts. Plus, I am actually a terrible student, but truth is I love physics nonetheless. So, what about you guys? I thought this would be a good idea to get to know each other better.

My avatar is from a minori game itself Yep, I love minori, and Ef, both the VN and the anime, are among my favorites.
-
Well I guess with that type of stories it's always a hit or miss Since there isn't as much as a plot, it all relies on the character development and you being able to relate and emphathize. Either you hate it or you love it I guess.
-
Well, I'm honestly not surprised. I tend to enjoy slow paced stories focused on characters circumstances, and I have a soft spot for psychological traumas. I can perfectly understand why for some people it'd be boring.
-
Mmm yeah, I kinda noticed that myself when reading the opinions people hold about different routes, and everyone's was different xD What about yourself, did you react differently than I did to Sachi's route?
-
Sachi's route finished, or at least the good ending. I don't like seeing the bad endings just right after the good one, so I'll put it off for now. God that was beautiful. Sachi's struggle felt painfully real, and the path as well as the resolution were brilliant. One thing I loved is how it felt so natural, so obvious, yet still kind of unpredictable. You as a reader feel as lost as Sachi, all the more reason to get in her skin. Absolutely loved it. Way, way above Makina's route for me.

Yes, don't get me wrong, I do believe that many VN are not targeted at any particular gender, or in other words, can be enjoyed equally by anyone. I doubt that many people would argue that let's say Steins;Gate is addressed at males just because the MC is a male, that's not what I'm going for here. What I intended to say is that there are a whole lot of VN's with storylines that would be easily enjoyable for both genders that for some reason decided it was a good idea to include a lot of elements clearly aimed for the male population, like a harem or h-scenes thoroughly narrated through a male perspective, while I don't find that inverse to be true in general terms: I don't know of many (or any before my post, actually) VN's with storylines suited for everyone with clear elements targeted at females.
