  1. I know it would be bad in the long run, but I would laugh my ass off if the guys making Grisaia decided to go with one of the bad endings, and then at the end of it announce that they'd devote another season to ending it right. Only to show another bad ending. And then start off the sequel like nothing happened. I probably shouldn't be put in charge of a creative project ever.
  2. There was an anime theme rail shooter on the Playstation called Elemental Gearbolt. I'm not sure how good a shooter it was(since it's the only one I've played outside the occasional one-off on random arcade games), but the soundtrack was absolutely stellar. Here are some samples:
  3. Contrariwise, rushing through an adaptation of a manga that hasn't yet concluded risks the show falling to the same fate as Rurouni Kenshin, where the animation studio has to do a season of filler that turns the audience off, leading to the show cancelling before it can adapt the manga entirely. Still kind of bitter about that one.
  4. IMO, the censorship is largely incidental to the real problem. The real problem is compression. Akame ga Kill, another currently running anime has covered 14 chapters of the manga over the last 8 episodes. Tokyo Ghoul has, in the last 9 episodes, covered 49 chapters. That's an average of about 4 minutes per chapter. There's no way they could fit anywhere near all of the manga's content into the anime at that rate, so a lot of stuff gets cut. They have multiple story arcs running simultaneously, which leads to events occurring out of sequence, necessitating changes in motive, cuts in dialogue, action, etc. Frankly, it's a bit of a mess, and at the rate they're going, any future seasons will be complete filler because they'll have run through most of the manga's extant content by the end of the season. After having read the manga, I'd give this show a pass unless it gets a serious re-edit on Blu-Ray.
  5. End of Aldnoah episode 8: Saw that coming. Awesome show.
  6. Actually you have to finish two specific routes(the main two heroines) in Extra to unlock Unlimited. Also, I've probably said it in every Muv-Luv related thread where this has come up, but I highly recommend against skipping Extra. Aside from getting to know the characters, there is a lot of foreshadowing in Extra that becomes important in Alternative. Aside from the Lacrosse arc, most of Extra becomes quite interesting retroactively. If Extra is that hard to take(it was for me the first time I played), I recommend reading one or two scenes at a time and doing something else in between rather than skipping it altogether. As to the OP's question, yeah, Muv-Luv is absolutely worth it. Although Extra can be annoying at times, in the end, the series rests comfortably in my top three VNs. To date, it's the only one I've completed more than once.
  7. Just watched ep 1 of Hanamonogatari. I have know idea where it is going yet, but it's interesting to have a different perspective. Shame it's only 5 episodes long.
  8. The joke started here and continued here. Both are oddly on topic for this show, come to think of it.
  9. My thoughts on the show's animators so far:
  10. So far, of the shows I've watched, Aldnoah.Zero and Zankyou no Terror are holding firm as my favorites. Akame ga Kill is finally starting to catch my interest as it seems to have gotten past the awkward intro episodes and moved on to "and now stuff happens." Tokyo Ghoul... yeah, the censorship is annoying, and I haven't even read the manga. Might have to change that. Added Rail Wars to my lineup since people keep talking about it. Not my thing for the most part, but it's an okay time waster. Looking forward to Hanamonogatari. Might pick another show at random to try out.
  11. Actually there is a considerable difference between the two, at least in the U.S. Other countries may vary. In America, theft is a crime, and piracy is not. Cops will not arrest you for piracy in the U.S. any more than a company will sue you for theft. Civil and criminal law are completely separate, with copyright infringement(what "piracy" actually falls under) lying on one side of the divide with theft falling on the other. This has no bearing on whether media piracy is morally wrong or unethical, but it does mean that equating piracy with theft is a bad thing to do in an argument if you want to be taken seriously. They are not the same thing.
  12. I enjoy School Days a lot(still haven't gotten all the endings because I haven't used a walkthrough yet). The characters, on the other hand...
  13. Aldnoah.Zero is a mecha anime that is mostly distinct for having a protagonist that thinks his way through battles rather than just powering his way to victory through badassery and the grace of deus ex machina. The soundtrack is pretty great too. And here's my new "Backing the Hell Out of This Discussion" gif
  14. So, of the ones I've watched so far: Akame ga Kill: I'm not entirely sold yet. I just haven't found anything about the show that really grabs me. That said, I'll keep watching in hopes that something stirs the pot. I just don't feel that 4 episodes in I should still feel like I'm watching the the introductory episode. Maybe I've just been watching too many one season length shows. Aldnoah.Zero: This one I'm liking. The protagonist is less Amuro Ray, the world's most badass mecha pilot and more Batman, the world's greatest detective. The battles are well thought out, and none of the victories (so far) feel contrived. Definitely going to keep watching this one. Tokyo Ghoul: World of Darkness, anime style. The protagonist could whine less, but overall, no real complaints. Nothing more to go on yet, but unlike Akame ga Kill, I can see that the show is going somewhere. Next up on my to-watch list is Zankyou no Terror.
  15. So I decided to start with a couple shows and work my way from there. So far, Akame ga Kill hasn't really grabbed me, but I see some potential. I'll keep watching it for now. Just watched the first episode of Tokyo Ghoul, and it has me a bit more interested. After I finish that one, I''ll likely give Aldnoah.Zero a shot and maybe a slice of life show for some variety. I'm basically stalling for time until Hanamonogatari starts at this point.
  16. I can see how people might not like the show, but I would give it more than one episode's chance. The premise is pretty ridiculous, but the over the top action an humor support it pretty well, and while the characters take themselves seriously, the show itself never does. It's definitely not a deep show, but it's probably the most fun one I've seen in a while. And the soundtrack really is awesome.
  17. Okay, so I finally got around to starting Kill la Kill. Holy fuck, I love this show. The action is awesome, the humor is right up my alley, and the soundtrack is god tier.
  18. Art does matter to me, but story matters more. I put down Clannad because most of the routes weren't clicking for me, not because everyone looked like aliens in high school uniforms(though they totally did). On the other hand, some art styles I didn't like initially grew on me as I read the VNs and got attached to the characters. Muv-Luv and Steins;Gate being the most notable of those.
  19. False. I only watch them at night. Next person has read a light novel.
  20. That's a good point.
  21.
