Recent (Japanese) Things You Have Purchased
OriginalRen replied to Tatsujin's topic in Members' Lounge
I seriously have no regrets. This figure is worth a whopping 37,000 yen in the aftermarket: http://imgur.com/a/upXV4 I am contemplating replacing her for the swimsuit Nymph I own as my favorite of all time. -
Fuwanovel: The solidbatman Perspective
OriginalRen replied to solidbatman's topic in Members' Lounge
Wow, I guess this means I basically need to post my 2 year reflection now, because it's an excellent pickup from your story before I arrived. -
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but the "return to top" button is gone as well. Not a major problem, but the convenience is nice to have.

I actually just linked what I have on my YouTube channel if you don't watch it: Akihabara Playlist:

OP and trial for Sakura no Mori † Dreamers is out
OriginalRen replied to Kawasumi's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Isn't this the same singer who did the 3rd Mirrai Nikki opening? Yousei Teikoku if I'm not mistaken: Never mind, here is their band page: http://www.denkare.net/dico -
I recommend giving your book a free trial for a limited amount of time. In my opinion, your limited description of the book and the amount of pages (roughly 130 of actual story) does not warrant a $15 price range, more so $15 without shipping included. Seeing how you structured the actual paragraphs, the actual length of the book could be read in less than an hour, and that's for the average reader no less. Honestly, the near carbon copy of a story, including the names being used in the description, does not sit well with me. After reading the previews, this book borders on plagiarism, and you charging money for is a very dangerous road to take. Be careful, because that crime is extremely serious. That being said, I wish you the best and hope it all works out!

In all seriousness though, thanks a ton Tay and Nayleen. Thanks for taking the time to fix everything on our behalf. You guys flippin' rock.

I would hope that the chivalrous knight VirginSmasher, oppai overlord of the western world, would understand.

It is a written rule, that whenever Fuwanovel has an apocalypse, a shit post thread must be created upon being fixed. Verily, this is and shall always remain true. Amen.

Hey guys, thanks for all the kind words! Again, let me know if anyone would be interested for the future!

Sweet baby Jesus, I can post again. Praise the sun.

Tour #1: Open Open Open Open Awhile back, I used to give virtual tours via Google Maps for Akihabara when my TeamSpeak was still semi-active. I had wanted to open up these virtual tours to members again and was wondering if anyone would be interested in receiving one. I am currently opening spots (whether privately or with a group) for those of you who would be interested in seeing the strip and what sorts of cool stuff is located there. The virtual tour (much better than the last one 2 years ago) would cover the following topics: History of Akihabara and its buildings An exploration of the entire district and its surrounding areas, including Ueno and other back roads Actual photographs of the strip as well as a bird's eye view of all the buildings via Google Maps A full detail on every store located there, including a handy map for reference and other material to help you understand all of your shopping needs Stores for all of your otaku hobby needs (visual novels, figurines, anime, light novels, manga, etc.) Restaurants in and around Akiba, including the best maid café and restaurant locations Transportation tips, local meeting spots, and other pertinent information about Japan Bonus: A virtual tour of Ueno park and the history museums/activities there The tour itself lasts around 3-4 hours (although it may be shorter), and I would be able to do them at anytime depending on the signups. Tour times are listed above, however these times can be negotiated if you'd like to adjust it. I can either do the tour on TeamSpeak or Skype (you do not need to use a mic or ever speak if you don't want to), whichever works better for you. When I gave live tours in Japan, a lot of individuals paid me money for a full day Akiba tour. This tour however is completely free of charge, and I promise that by the end of it all, you will feel like a complete expert on how to get around the strip. I have given this tour to a lot of different people, including @Down, @Nyanko, and many more. Ask anyone who has received it, and remember that those tours were 2 years ago; I am much more knowledgeable about the strip now. Let me know if you would be interested!

are there vn elitists and hipsters in japan?
OriginalRen replied to ホアー ビち's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Verily, our lord and savior has spoken on this very day in a thread, and therefore it has been written. Let it be told. -
are there vn elitists and hipsters in japan?
OriginalRen replied to ホアー ビち's topic in Visual Novel Talk
They discuss it, but like visual novel/anime fans, the real world is too much for them to discuss their hobby. Why talk in real life when you can hide behind a fake internet persona? -

OriginalRen replied to ホアー ビち's topic in Visual Novel Talk
When I think of hipsters, I think of young female teenagers wearing leggings as pants with a pair of Ugg boots and a sweater, while texting on their iPhone and holding a cup of some mixed drink from Starbucks. Sunglasses are optional. If that's the case, then no, there are no hipsters in Japan. -

OriginalRen replied to ホアー ビち's topic in Visual Novel Talk
As someone who has lived in Japan and went to Akihabara release dates every month while standing in line with a bunch of other PC game fanatics, no, there aren't any elitists. Most people mind their own business and come to buy what they need to buy. -
[Active] Fuwa Original Mascot Character Suggestion Thread
OriginalRen replied to solidbatman's topic in Archive
My thoughts on the mascot: I think that the character/creature should be original and something the site designs, not a copyright. Using a copyright doesn't speak "branding" to me, and while I get that some suggestions are good ideas (i.e. = Aaeru's avatar), Pulltop already owns that character. I understand that Fuwanovel may not be a site that generates money, but we do have a donation system set up. I have always seen Fuwanovel as a site that wants to be different from other visual novel sites out there, and nothing puts more of a sour taste in someone's mouth than looking at us from the outside and realizing that we ended up copying another person's/company's idea. In short, keep it original. I strongly believe that the character/creature needs to be a female. No matter what gender you are, anime fans have and always will be associated to an audience that enjoys the rich diversity of female characters. There is a reason that most modern anime has more females. There is a reason that nearly every mascot for every company in Japan associated with anime is a female. All in all, females stick more with the audience. A large majority of visual novels are catered to the male audience. That being said, most females who enjoy visual novels catered to a male audience tend to have a bisexual orientation. This in turn makes me feel a female will connect better with any audience seeing the site. Designing a character is a huge challenge. Ignoring the actual look of the character, the agreement on the personality of the character is what will make or break it. If we choose an actual human being, I believe that a lot of people will connect with an artsy/introverted personality. Have you ever read those adorable little comics written by female artists about their take on relationships and how they are really shy and cute? That's pretty much what I think we should aim for here. Visual novels are a form of art, and what better way to represent them than with an artsy mascot? People connect with introverted characters because most anime/visual novel fans are introverts themselves. Not everyone is comfortable opening up outside the safe haven of the internet, and I think designing a character that is both warm, artsy, and inviting for all genders will draw much more attention for the site. What makes a character mascot artsy? A moe girl with glasses, coffee cups, painting supplies, sketchbooks, and other elements that speak "art student" in their appearance. If we don't go with a human being (which I suggest the creature/animal instead), there are a lot more options on the table. -
Look, I will straight up apologize for my comment about disliking Maeda. It was uncalled for, and I understand that. As I had said, it was in response to the comment above that upset me. I had given a legitimate concern about the article and said (in a very respectful manner) that I felt it didn't need to point out what he had done in his career. The opening post in this thread also stated that they hope the "great VN writer" gets better. That extra tag triggered me, and I misread the purpose of the post. Even if he wasn't a great VN writer, does that make him less of a person to wish good health to? I took the comment as a personal remark, and for that I apologize. If you read the original post I made, I had stated that whatever happened to him sucks and I do hope he feels better. After being attacked I started a pointless flame war. Again, I'm sorry, but I would appreciate it if people stopped pointing out how saying one bad thing makes me a terrible member of the community and scum on this planet. It is actually extremely rude and disrespectful all things considered. People make mistakes. I made one in this thread. I'm sorry.

You as well babiker. Get off your fucking high horse.

OriginalRen replied to Tatsujin's topic in Members' Lounge
What the hell are you doing? You seriously have no right to blame me for anything ever again. -
Sorry, I forgot to link my blog/YouTube channel for hits and money.

Don't be a hypocrite babiker. Even if I don't like the guy, having you tell me to my face that I am a child and going out of your way to remind me (and all Fuwans) about how I used to be a good guy and how this website is shit is doing the exact same thing you are calling me out for. As someone who used to troll with the FSG, don't you dare talk to me about "being childish." None of this was a problem to begin with. Zakamutt decided to call me out and purposefully egged me on so I would say some stupid remark that wasn't needed, thus causing me to defend myself and state an inappropriate remark which was poorly timed in this thread. Am I at fault? Sure, but none of this should have even happened if you understood what I meant initially. Christ.
