Seriousness by far. Comedy can be fun once in a while (a la Grisaia's common route), but serious plots just bring far more to the table, are more varied, and are much more memorable in the long run. Bouts of seriousness amidst comedy is always welcome, but I'd say inserting comedy into seriousness runs the risk of killing immersion.

A game that has Takemi is automatically superior

Probably The House In Fata Morgana for me, although it does not exploit choices as well as I'd want it to (it's mostly linear). Virtue's Last Reward is by far the best about choice (and consequence) from what I've seen, but it's not standalone, so it's ruled out. Edit: Could have considered Umineko instead for much of the same reasons, but again, thanks to the fact that it has no choices, it's ruled out (trying to find a VN that would provide a suitable baseline to "rebuild" the genre).

Euphoria has maybe 30-35 scenes total, about a fifth of them featuring scat (max). Some feature stuff like fainting and gorey stuff as well. There's at least one lovey-dovey sex scene with each girl. Starless? Starless simply doesn't give a fuck. It has more than 80 (eighty) sex scenes, almost all of them rape (off the top of my head, I recall two -perhaps three or four- consensual sex scenes), it goes much farther with gore and torture, there's (more) electrocution and there's bestiality, the number of scenes with scat and/or enema play probably reach the twenties, maybe thirty scenes have piss play, there's numerous instances of drug use as well. And the average scene goes on for longer. ...You tell me.

Actually I have several crucial exams in the upcoming month and the last one is on the tenth of May so provided it doesn't get stolen/stuck at customs, I'll only be able to play the game in 5 weeks. Furthermore, I don't have a PS4, so I have to save up enough to buy the game on PS3 in the meantime- if I am able to borrow a friend's PS3, that is.
