I'm... interested, although I've heard Voko say many of these arcs are pretty shitty lol. I just hope this won't delay their PS3 asset/VA patches for the official retranslation. Edit: For the record, I'm following MangaGamer's retranslation for my first Higurashi experience and I always wait for the Higutweak patch to get released before I play it. And I love the first four chapters, they're incredible. That's why I care so much that they won't delay the newest patch once Meakashi comes out.

Vita has an "awful library"? You know that's just, like, your opinion, man. I'm disappointed myself that there is no Vita version but given the odds of this thing even getting localized, I'll not complain much since the fact that we're getting is extraordinary.

For the psychological aspect, you can also consider Virtue's Last Reward which deals with trust and betrayal (and has incredible sci-fi to boot). The thing is, it has a predecessor called 999 you've gotta play before VLR.

Saya no Uta is pretty good for this, in my opinion. It's short, but really twisted. It deals with isolation and insanity.

I seem to have forgotten to talk about the part where I wept silently in my bed during the whole ending cutscene all through to the moment when the game throws you back into the main menu.

Welp. Finished FFX a few hours ago. It was amazing overall, and besides that 6-hour long grinding slump, a memorable journey all the way through. Amazing, wonderful, beautiful game. Also finished watching a Drankengard LP (skipped battle scenes). Hated it until the end. Then that ending happened and I laughed about it for the next two hours. Fucking amazing.

I'm kinda hyped, it sounds like my sort of thing. Likewise for ISLAND.

Ratings are purely subjective and thus, except very broad judgments (9's and 10's across the board -> critically acclaimed, an average of 3-4 -> probably not worthwhile) there's really no point to a number-scale review system to consider at large except your private rankings. Some people might only give a 10 to something that's radically changed their life while others give a 10 to games that simply stuck with them. Likewise, some people will give 5 to some VNs they consider trash while for someone else will consider a 5 as "a fun but forgettable romp". There's also the "excelling at different things" angle to consider. I have a particular nukige (Mamankyoushitsu) that I'd definitely give a 9/10 to, but that doesn't mean I think it's as good in any comparable respect as YU-NO, a story I found rather touching and inspirational and would also rate 9/10. The only solution that appears to me, if we are to use a scalar system, is that we'd have to go beyond numbers- A triangle means "a shitty action VN", a square means "a decent action VN", a circle means "an amazing action VN"; horror VNs are judged on a scale of increasing quality on 'banana -> apple -> orange -> kiwi", etc. And of course that in itself is a mess that probably no one wants to get into. TL;DR: Your ratings are pretty much bullshit except the meaning they have for you.

I logged on a fair Sunday morning to the Fuwanovel Forums, expecting my day to begin with a healthy and revivifying dose of rollback outrage. Alas, as it was perchance fated to be, I found myself only want for drama. So deprived of a serene period of happiness, I then deduced that the present circumstances were only full in explanation if one were to consider that the forums, much as I loathe to say it, were on the whole functioning satisfactorily well.

I hate grinding lol that's the problem

FFX: Had to grind before the final boss. Been stuck there for two weeks at this point. Will hopefully finish it within the next week; just got Doublecast for Lulu and I'm about to have another attempt. Superbeat Xonic: I play only a couple songs a day. I liked the track list far more than I thought I would, standouts being Fantasti-K and Timeline. Also started to watch a playthrough of the first Drankengard. Planning on doing the same for 2 and perhaps even 3.

How familiar are you with her? Are you just acquaintances or is she a friend? That will change your approach, I think. I second the notion of telling her in private. That said, I don't know shit about love (except that I might be friendzoning my best female friend). But I feel like you'd regret it if you never told her.

Planescape Torment if you're fine with an old game and Torment: Tides of Numenera if you want something newer (although Numenera is in beta right now). They both play like the first two Fallout games, they're played from an isometric perspective and they focus on narration and dialogue to get through encounters and enjoy the story.
