No problem, man. A lot of the turmoils you're experiencing right now are similar to what I went through in high school. I had a real knack for studying, but I had to deal with a lot of discouragement growing up, and it wasn't until recently that I developed a sense of ambition. I wouldn't wish my experiences on you. You're a good person, and you deserve better in life.

I agree, pursuing a language-based career is not something that's easy to do. There are many writers and translators out there competing in your line of work, and only a handful of them are actually successful. More times than not, you will have to pursue a side job in order to finance your ambitions. But I think it's still very doable. I don't know if this is the case with you or not, but if you're looking at the entire route from start to finish, you're overwhelming yourself. Rather than think about what you need to do entirely, try breaking it up into short-term goals and only concern yourself with that. There are 4 parts to language study that can help reinforce your understanding of the English language. You have reading, writing, conversation, and alternate language research. Tackle each aspect individually, and work on it over a long period of time. Remember, you have your entire life to dedicate to your ambitions. The earlier you get started on it, the earlier you master it. If you're good enough, you could write a book with a video game or movie adaption that's just as popular as series like Lord of the Rings or The Witcher. By then, everything you print will be a hit and that's where your career takes off! Also, remember the baby steps philosophy. It's more productive to put in a small amount of effort every day than it is to put in large effort once in a blue moon. Try to do something that helps you further your abilities every day for 30 minutes or an hour. It's a short period of time in which you can realistically expect yourself to commit to on a daily basis. And if you find that you can comfortably increase your effort as you do it more, then by all means. Just make sure you can do it consistently.

Congratulations, Ceris! I knew you could do it one day. I agree with maef. I feel that a lot of my bad habits have been resolved when I stopped retrying maps so much and started lowering map AR to 8. It sort of forces you to play more efficiently and your shit-miss rate will go down. Just throwing this out there, but I won't be playing for a little while. I got around to sending in my mouse for a warranty replacement and I'm having to use my generic backup mouse. I could play on it if I wanted, but it's really small and only goes to 800 dpi... Soon. Also, I plan on getting a tablet as soon as I can afford one. I have ambitious goals that I think would be better met with a tablet than a mouse (like FC'ing Tengaku https://osu.ppy.sh/b/816327)

No matter what you do, there will always be someone out there who's better than you. Rather than let that thought depress you, use it as motivation to get better. What if I told you that you don't need to be smart to learn something? Sure, it helps to avoid a learning curb and progress faster, but as long as you have diligence, you can achieve virtually anything. That said, you want to stick to doing something you enjoy doing. It's not worth putting in the extra effort if it doesn't ever pay off. It's like I said the other day, find out what it is you truly want to devote your life to, and then devote your life to it. If you fail, don't give up and aim for another goal, find a better way to achieve your goal. One other piece of advice I'd like to give you is to not be afraid to leave your comfort zone. Your mind is made up if different neurological pathways, and many of them may be closed up. If you allow yourself to experience various unique situations, you're opening those pathways up and further developing your mind. This can include something small like eating foods you're not use to, smelling something different, or playing/reading/watching different genres in entertainment (especially with video games). If you want to achieve higher intelligence, try working on this.

I can see how they'd turn against him since he's in a position against Hillary though. Also, would the DNC support his campaign as senator even though he's been independent? Wouldn't they want to have people from their own party in that position? I'll have to hunt it down, but take into account that was almost 10 years ago in the 2006 election cycle. So really, is he an "Independent" if he goes through the trouble of running in primaries as an Democrat? It's pretty simple, really. He wins the Democratic nomination, doesn't accept it, leaving the Democrats with no nominee on the ballot, and he runs as an Independent, leaving no Democrat to split his votes. Why would the Democrats accept Sanders? Because he's pretty much a Democrat anyway, he votes with them, caucuses with them, even runs as one in primaries. The guy might come across as genuine about his policy beliefs, but make no mistake - he's a career politician who clearly has played nice with the Democratic Party for a couple decades, and to be honest, why wouldn't he? He HAD to play nice with them - they're the closest party to his political beliefs/agenda. It's a nice thought that an Independent would go into Washington and shake things up, the reality is if he went there truly as an Independent, he'd have few allies, no committee assignments, no backing for his Vermont projects and would basically be a very, VERY lonely Representative/Senator. That's not to say he's a horrible choice or anything, but the idea that he's some rogue independent candidate is a misnomer at best. Okay, I get it now. What you're saying does make sense to me, and I've done some extra reading on the net to confirm a little bit of what you're telling me. Confession: I live in the US and I don't understand this article. Then again I don't follow politics and haven't registered to vote either of the two times I've legally been allowed too. Heh, my aunt had trouble figuring it out too. There's a bit more to it, but this image pretty much covers the gist of what happened. If nothing else, at least vote for Bernie Sanders. He's the only presidential candidate with an authentic character, and has an amazing track record to boot. He's been a strong advocate for the middle class, racial equality, military veterans, and the environment. Most importantly, he's the only candidate that spends more time talking about the issues our country faces than about himself and his proposals are very consistent with his past views (he doesn't change his mind in order to appeal to majority). He's not an establishment politician either; his success is entirely derived from how much support he gets from regular people. From what I understand, Vermont is very happy to have him as their senator.

Confession: Today's one of the best days I've had in a while. Idk if it's the air finally getting colder in Florida or the flu shot I had yesterday, but I actually fell asleep last night. It hurts, Kenshin. It really does. ;-; I haven't touched the game in forever. I suck even more now. I have a new mouse though. <3 Aw man. That's alright, just get there eventually. Speaking of mice, I finally got a shipping label from Logitech to replace mine. The cord's kinda damaged now and it keeps bugging out on me, so they're sending me a replacement under the warranty. Sad part is that I have return the mouse first and have to use a generic one till the new one comes in. Needless to say, I won't be playing Osu for a little while (which might not be too bad since my hands are starting to hurt). Good to have you back again pal.

That is wonderful. Your effort is commendable and encouraging to me. Lately I've stopped caring about my life and let it get out of hand again, and in the process let my depression get to a sort of dangerous level. But hearing about how hard you're working to make your goals happen, it helps me get my head together so that I can really think about what I need to do for myself. Anyways, I hope for the best between you and Cyr and that you do manage to get a better job. Good luck!

I'm not sleeping for a while either. I've had a lot of hope that my life would finally turn around, and it's been crushed twice so far. Once by the guy I moved in with, and the second time by my grandma who said she'd let my family and I move in with her. I guess it just goes to show that you shouldn't expect much from anyone other than yourself.

Not gonna lie, that was probably the worst time to ever be playing RS. They've come up with better bot detection so that they could bring back trade, and made a great number of improvements to playability too. It's still pretty grindy, but quests, minigames, etc have lessened the burden by a great margin.

I think the real confession there is that you still play Runescape : P It's just one of those games I play off and on lol. One of the joys of the game is seeing how much it changes every time you come back to it. The ironman challenge is pretty interesting too.
