  1. You've made the right choice.
  2. I haven't actually read this one yet, so I just looked up the characters. Yeesh, the changes in art style are pretty jarring. But yes, some are drawn by R07. I'm pretty sure the rest are actually drawn by multiple artists.
  3. Alll Ryukishi07 did on RGD is the character design, some other artist did the actual sprite work. None of the sprites in the game are R07's doing. Trianthology is all R07's doing, they're not hiring another artist for that like they did with RGD. Trianthology is really the best he's capable of on his own.
  4. I think you are definitely looking at those games through some rose tinted glasses. Edit: I still enjoy them a lot but maybe in a different way from how they were intended to be enjoyed. They feel kind of campy, in a way. Just listen to this wonderful dialog. It honestly warms my heart: If you know what I mean Now excuse me as I get major hyped for Shenmue 3's forklifting minigame. http://www.siliconera.com/2015/06/17/yu-suzuki-wants-to-introduce-a-new-qte-system-for-shenmue-3/
  5. One Way Heroics is pretty fun and a good way to waste some time every now and again. You probably have to like roguelikes to like it, though.
  6. They are not very fun to play nowadays, straight up. And I say this as someone who was a fan of those games at their release. They do not hold up. The ONLY reason to play them anymore would be for the story.
  7. It hasn't even been a week since the last post
  8. A group of true beauties.
  9. There is an important distinction to make here. They were not given the Shenmue license, but the rights to use it. Sega still holds the license.
  10. He conceived it as a 16 part story. The first two games constituted 4 of those 16 parts. So either he makes major cuts to the story, or this isn't the last entry. He probably wants to continue cashing in on Shenmue so expect the latter.

Dawww, that is such a good doggie. I want to pet that doggie. Let's go on an adventure, buddy, just you and me. Best part are the matching eye patches. D-Dog confirmed as the best dog of 2015.
  12. Yakuza is like 67% combat, 33% exploration/adventuring. Shenmue is like 95% exploration/adventuring, 5% combat. With a heavy emphasis on the player living out the main character's daily life. But Yakuza clearly got some inspiration from Shenmue.

They are almost certainly going to do both of those things during their press conference tomorrow, right? They have to, it's probably a Q4 release this year.
  14. OTOH, Herkz has been editing very quickly, and will probably be done before the end of the week. Also they have the patch creation process down, as they've already released multiple partials, and it doesn't seem to take them much time. There are no technical hurdles to release after editing is finished and they also won't do any additional QC, AFAIK. edit: Herkz is saying a one month turnaround time on the patch release after editing is finished.
  15. I hear it makes a lot of literary references but I do not know how necessary understanding them is to understanding the overall story.

Shooting for the moon, huh? Although the only actual viable thing about this is F-Zero for Wii U.
  17. It's the power of nostalgia. These are all gamers who were around playing games when Shenmue 1 came out.
  18. The Yakuza games are only nominally similar to Shenmue. Shenmue was much more of an adventure game with a few combat sequences. Shenmue was all about being a weird life simulator on top of everything else, really trying to immerse the player in the day-to-day life of Ryo on his quest. $2 million is totally a fake goal. This Kickstarter campaign reeks of being an elaborate advertising campaign and are being primarily funded by outside funds. I am interested in Shenmue 3, but they're really choosing an odd way of going about this.

This is an unfortunate technical issue. edit: lmao, seamless cut to video. No one will notice!

I still say don't get your hopes up for Persona 5. That isn't an E3 game. Was there ever any sort of re-releases for the first two games? AFAIK it's not easy to play those nowadays, something these guys should probably resolve if they want to get more people interested in Shenmue 3. The first one is 15 freaking years old now. Still, you can play them both on NullDC, a Dreamcast emulator. Meanwhile, COD, snooore.

Shenmue was revolutionary at the time, but it kind of doesn't hold up. Maybe the story will be good if they make a continuation of that in an actual good, modern game. It was a 3D third person adventure game in a really highly detailed city (for the year 2000) you could freely roam in. You basically lived out the day-to-day life of Ryo as you sought out your father's murderer. It was cool and I really liked it at the time.

What on earth is this, a first person detective game set in Gotham City? I would be totally okay with that. edit: No, it's just a weird Scarecrow-esque trip mission in Arkham Knight, which is out next week. Bummer? Bummer.

I just spammed the wrong thread because I'm incompetent. Sorry, Stray Cat. Also, for the FF7 remake, "Play it first on Playstation 4" It's gonna be multiplatform. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ysnet/shenmue-3 This is so fucking unbelievable.
