Incidentally, my blog post got like 30-40 additional views yesterday after the change went into effect, and only received around 10 views the previous day. So I reckon this definitely had a positive impact on blog views. The view counts still aren't mindblowing or anything but every little bit helps

Worth keeping this theme?: Fuwa2015 ("Clarity")
Decay replied to Tay's topic in Community Coordination and Feedback
Just curious, but what are fuwa fabulous's default colors? -
The Fruit of Grisaia Finally released on steam
Decay replied to CruelN1N1's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Well, clearly it works and there's an audience wanting it, based on how well it sold. -

They clearly don't think nekopara is suitable for kids even without the h-scenes, because they have that game age-gated on their site. -
Relation between breath of fire universe and Utawarerumono?
Decay replied to Nightmare799's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Well, this sure was an unannounced spoiler. -
I've been secretly wishing the demise of the birthday section for a while now, good work Nay. (not bitter that nobody wished me a happy birthday) edit: For real though, there is only so much space available on the front page for these kinds of things, unless you want it to look ridiculous (which you shouldn't). I wouldn't mind the birthday section is there weren't more important or more interesting things to advertise first. But alas, it seems like a necessary sacrifice here.

Hilariously enough, my count is seriously at 69GB. Well, I've got a good source and downloading lots and just breezing through it while you look for something appealing is really trivial. And a lot of videos are a gigabyte or more.

Happy music makes me happy. Edit: Man, this whole album owns owns owns. Even if you don't normally like hip hop (I imagine that's most of the posters here) I still implore you to give it a shot, at least listen to the song I linked above, it's VERY different from what you might expect from the genre based on the common stereotypes. It's uplifting, feelgood rap with smooth melodies, jazzy beats, optimistic celebratory lyrics, and everyone involved feels like they're having fun just making it. Maybe you'll come to like something you never expected to like. At worst, you'll be out three and a half minutes.

To this day, FEAR still has some of the best enemy AI in any shooter. The human soldiers are so fun to fight against.

Fallout 4 Is Not Very Exciting to Me, and Here's Why.
Decay commented on Decay's blog entry in Decay's musings
Interestingly, it seems Bethesda is going to be swinging for the fences on the story stuff in FO4. The player character will be voiced, which mute protagonists was one of my complaints about their previous games. But that's just step one. Expect even longer scripted events, even more and longer forced dialog sessions, and the story being shoved into your face even harder. I reaalllly hope they actually do that well, because I don't know how much bad Bethesda writing I want to sift through in order to shoot bandits in the junk. As for nobody building anything new, I think New Vegas handled that better than FO3 for sure. It felt like there was an established society there. -
Actually I was wrong. I blame hearthpwn for incorrect information. You still have to get 500 wins in a class to get a golden portrait, but it's class specific and not hero specific, and they come animated by default even without the shiny gold borders.

realtalk though, Hyouka was alright but nothing special. I won't actually fight for it, it's not good enough for that. But I didn't hate it, either. I can understand your points.

Alright nosebleed, you, me, sunday, hell in the cell. Let's do this.

I would say that chapters 1-3 of higurashi are around maybe 8 hours each? Maybe longer? It's hard to say, Chapter 4 was only around 4 or so hours. Chapters 5-8 are more than 10 hours a piece, with 8 being especially long. VNDB lists all first 4 chapters combined as 30-50 hours, and the second four at 50+, and that's about right. You get your bang for your buck with higurashi. And yeah, Chapter 1 starts slow. The pacing was kind of rough, I didn't like that part of it. It gets better. The Watanagashi festival is the turning point.

Yes, virtually everything that works on Windows 8 should work on Windows 10. There's no guarantees, there will probably be a few odd ones out, but there's no good reason why they wouldn't work. This is not like the jump from xp to vista, or 7 to 8.

They would have actually said nothing at all if she was the source of the leak, instead of denying everything. Denials can backfire, especially if what they're denying is the truth. Anyways, this is relevant: edit: for real, this video is a pro fucking click.

Uhh, yeah, that is definitely it. Windows does not have native 10-bit codec support, and Windows 10 seemingly won't either.

Is she also unhealthily obsessed with UFOs? Spiky twintails is a weird look.

Yeah, the main problem is that nobody seems to visit the community blogs hub, so their only point of access is the sidebar. There is pretty much nothing you can do to change people's behavior about that, you just have to increase visibility for the entries on the front page to compensate. Unless something weird happens like with Satsuki's Sakura Fantasy review. What's up with that, anyways, was it linked off-site anywhere?

We just got 12 new blog entries in the last 4 days. I get the feeling that people actually do look at the New Blogs widget on the forum's front page, but do not look at the main blogs page. Blog views seem to drop sharply as soon as a blog entry leaves that widget. Since the last few days have been so active, it was entirely possible for a blog entry to only have a few hours in the spotlight, before it gets forgotten and nobody views it again. This can be a problem and discourages people from putting effort into their posts. The last few days have been an anomaly, but more people seem to be trying out the blog feature, and if the feature continues to grow in use like you would want, we're going to run into this issue much more frequently. I suggest one of two things (or both): A scrollbar on the widget so you can see many entries without taking up too much real estate, or expanding the list to include more entries at once. If you are concerned about taking too much real estate, I have one other suggestion, only display the latest weekly spotlight post by Rose, as I don't see much benefit in showing weeks-old posts there.

I'm not sure what you're implying. I tend to think that Kotaku is a pretty terrible site, but they did nothing wrong here. The false leak is the reddit one, not the kotaku one.

(NSFW) Tales of the perverted swordwoman - Random Review - Sakura Fantasy Chapter 1
Decay commented on Satsuki's blog entry in Satsuki's Bombard Zone
I AM a native english speaker and you can probably use wake in that way. I guess most people would say "wake up" instead of "wake", but simply using "wake" sounds like a pointlessly archaic yet still correct way of saying it. Something someone pompous would say. That's probably not how that character is supposed to come across, so it's still shit writing. More likely, it's the writer who is pompous and not the character. Unintentionally injecting your own personality and speech patterns into characters they don't belong in is a sure sign of bad writing. A kinetic novel is a VN without any choices whatsoever. There are plenty of linear VNs that are not kinetic novels. -
Regardless of who does or doesn't know how modern game development works, it's a false rumor. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1057304 Basically, all of the leaks this reddit poster was correct on came from Kotaku first. And she claimed responsibility for leaking it to kotaku, which they've denied completely.
