Negative. Not a peep out of Sekai Project about it.
-
JAST hasn't really changed (if anything, they're releasing a bit faster). MangaGamer has simply outpaced them consistently. It's still not clear if Sekai Project's early momentum is sustainable, or even if they'll be around in the VN market in 2-3 years.

Well, apparently this is going to be released in English. Just what you always wanted, right? https://www.reddit.com/r/visualnovels/comments/4rgsa9/potential_nora_to_oujo_to_noraneko_heart/

Isn't the translator in the credits?

The difference is that Sekai Project relies on Kickstarter. Having a large backlog makes backers uneasy. The more projects going at the same time, the greater the loss to backers if Sekai Project suddenly folds. A growing cascade of crowdfunding campaigns suggests reckless expansion, or worse, starting new projects to fund previous ones (a.k.a., a pyramid scheme). Finally, too many simultaneous projects could stress the organizational apparatus overseeing all of them, resulting in lack of proper oversight and quality control. These are all serious concerns. MangaGamer is established, experienced, and boasts a fast-paced release schedule AND the quality control to back it up. Not to mention that if they suddenly collapse, backers won't be left with the tab.

If the purpose was to collect actually useful information, the poll would measure interest in releases during the given time period, not announcements, and the metric would would be purchases, not just preliminary interest. There's nothing wrong with measuring hype though.

Sekai Project continues to string fans along while keeping them in the dark about their actual intentions. Typical Sekai Project. I kind of expected this after dovac contacted me on Twitter just to gripe at me. I don't think I can continue to give this company the benefit of the doubt.

Nutaku caught abusing DMCA takedowns to censor evidence of censorship
sanahtlig commented on sanahtlig's blog entry in Sanahtlig's Corner
No, Nutaku instead decided to look into whether I lied about linking the forum post about censorship in the text of the image gallery, and used the "ongoing investigation" as grounds to uphold the DMCA. -

No, it was an Imgur gallery of 4 pairs of HCG comparing images between the original JP version and the modified English version. -

So it was. I guess it didn't draw enough attention in the communities I frequent to catch my notice. -

Nutaku has a long history of undisclosed censorship, but this is surprisingly little known among eroge fans. DMCA abuses suggest a deliberate cover-up. Nutaku caught abusing DMCA takedowns to censor evidence of censorship Fuwanovel forum thread -

The topic was purged from the forums and discussion of it is now forbidden. I wrote an allegory (Ep.8) that alludes to it, however. -
Frontwing hosts Reddit AMA, answers questions from fans

I wrote for Fuwanovel for a time, but after the matter involving Interpol, management encouraged me to host my content off-site. @Decaydoes a fine job covering the news for the front page, even though his overly cheery demeanor makes me cringe at times. If the Fuwanovel front page were more accessible, I'd probably post there occasionally. As it is, I've enjoyed being able to freely publish and update my posts without needing to convince (and wait on) someone first. And to be honest, some of my best content gets turned down by other sites. LewdGamer didn't want to carry my Nutaku article, for instance. Frontwing was only taking questions for 3hrs, and this was announced suddenly. It's not like I haunt Reddit updating the page 20x a day, waiting breathlessly for the next new post. Anymore. I'm actually not a journalist, and those around me tend to be surprised that I'm any good at writing. -
Frontwing hosts Reddit AMA, answers questions from fans

I found this response interesting: I think he's ignoring the elephant in the room: that if games are made with a Steam release in mind, that this necessarily limits the creative process. There's game concepts that don't work (or would be considered inappropriate) when your target platform is Steam: Ikusa Megami Zero, Sengoku Rance, and the Venus Blood series, just to name a few of my favorites. Games being modularly designed with excisable ero content is a very real concern of mine. This highlights a more fundamental issue: that many of us like Japanese games for the reason that they deal with different sorts of themes and they're not bound by Western cultural values. As soon as they start consciously targeting the Western audience, they'll dilute the qualities that make the games appealing to us (fans of niche Japanese entertainment) in the first place. They tried to reassure us that this wasn't the case, but in the big scheme of things I'm not convinced. -
I can confirm this behavior and that it is undesirable.

A rant about the translation scene and the community revolving it.
sanahtlig commented on Aizen-Sama's blog entry in Aizen's Rambling Corner
Also, I find that those who complain about fan translation quality tend to fall into these categories: Other translators (or their followers) who don't like sharing the spotlight with groups whose "quality standards" are less than their own. Those who know Japanese and who criticize others to satisfy their inflated ego or boost their social standing. Those who believe that quality standards must be enforced by the community to prevent works of art from being "defiled". Note that the first two groups aren't even your target audience. -

The real "silent majority" neither whines about fan translations nor supports them. They simply download the patch when it's done and disappear; no thanks, no complaint. Apathy is always the default response. Remember that. -

https://www.accountholdsettlement.com/Home/FAQ How much will my payment be? If you are a Claims Class Member and elect to make a Basic Claim, payment will be determined based on the dollar amount of the longest hold or reserve on your account and how many Claims Class Members send in valid Claims. Basic Claim amounts are estimated to range between $3.00 and $440.00, depending on the length and amount of the hold or reserve, based on the following grid: Length of Hold/Reserve Hold/Reserve under $1,000 Hold/Reserve $1,000 to $10,000 Hold/Reserve over $10,000 1–30 days $3.00 $3.00 $36.00 31–90 days $3.00 $5.00 $150.00 91–150 days $3.00 $10.00 $100.00 Over 150 days $14.00 $25.00 $440.00 You only get paid if you had a hold placed on your account. You'll only get more than $3 if you run a business using PayPal. The vast majority of US members here won't get anything worthwhile out of this. If you were actually affected, you'd have long known about this already and been following this case.

A Reddit user has reported that I've been shadowbanned on Twitter. Collectivist culture is going to be a big pro or con for anyone used to Western culture, especially the US. Everything is about the group. Being an independent thinker won't be valued there as it is here.

You thought the sky was the limit for Sakura games?
sanahtlig replied to Nosebleed's topic in Visual Novel Talk
That is possibly the most dull and uninformative game trailer I've ever seen. It somehow manages to introduce every character without telling you anything at all about the game.
