  1. I see patches for Umineko and Higurashi on his site. Not 18+ patches, but MangaGamer titles nonetheless, and he's most definitely infringing copyright with these patches. Imouto Works claims that he works on patches for titles based on requests from followers. The biases of his followers could thus influence which titles he makes patches for. Admittedly, he doesn't have ethical grounds to stand on with regards to why he's still hosting the Nekopara Vol. 2 and KARAKARA patches, even after Sekai Project asked him to stop.
  2. I'm who I've always been. I'm not responsible for Fuwanovel's actions, just as Fuwanovel doesn't want to be responsible for mine. We're a collection of individuals, each with our beliefs. I'm a bit surprised you're biting at that bait. The actions of the collective do not define the individual.
  3. Deploying the "hypocrite" card on a large scale like that is just going to get you piled on. Don't do it. On top of that, it shows your ignorance of the varied stances that people have towards piracy here and elsewhere.
  4. Problem: the premise for most of your post appears to be baseless speculation. Consider: what if some random dude on Twitter told you to take down some fan project you worked on? You know, because he said so. Imouto Works has no connection to the VN scene. He had no idea who Dovac is.
  5. Sekai Project appears to have actually been involved in development of the game, therefore the adult scenes exist in the first place because they financed them.
  6. *furrows brow* You read the OP, right? That's exactly what I proposed.
  7. Yes, but you're ignoring the effects of social inequity aversion. I trust that Sekai Project will continue to do what they think will make them the most money. They set the price for the Steam version at that point for a reason; they're not going to raise it just to spite the adult community, regardless of Dovac's hyperbolic claims to the contrary.
  8. I haven't heard anything more than what was linked in that thread (which I followed at the time too). Dovac is generally pretty secretive and doesn't talk about his business dealings.
  9. Come on, Rooke. Are you really taking a Twitter comment made in the heat of an argument at face value? Dovac said the developer is literally a subsidiary ("sub-brand") of Sekai Project. He appears to have complete control of pricing. This is a false dichotomy he presented (and I'm not even sure he meant to present it like that). People are prone to hyperbole when upset, and that's exactly how I took that statement. I mean, really, look at all the other things he said. Here's my expectation of how this could work: raise the price of the non-adult version, lower the price of the adult version. It doesn't need to be just one or the other.
  10. I'm not proposing that this be used across the board. I'm proposing that Sekai Project show respect for its adult audience by not giving the appearance of trying to gouge them. Most OELVN developers provide the adult content free of charge. Sekai Project is applying the square peg of Japanese business practices to the round hole of consumer expectations in the Western adult gaming community, then wondering why their audience tries to subvert them. It bothers me that Sekai Project pulls stunts like this then cries "There's no demand for adult games!" when people don't buy.
  11. A Twitter dispute highlights the lingering tension between Sekai Project and the adult gaming community KARAKARA, Dovac, Twitter wars, and overcharging for adult content
  12. School Days isn't too difficult to wander your way through. Shiny Days is more of a pain.
  13. I assume you're talking about School Days. This is a game that can only be fully appreciated by traversing the various paths through the story and seeing many endings. One of the great things about the Days series is how setting details are scattered throughout the various routes. This is definitely a game that's worth replaying more than once per heroine, especially since many of the most interesting paths involve not being completely devoted to a single heroine. Try following Makoto's gut feeling at each branch point and see where it takes you.
  14. But you can't reach the level cap for a given difficulty with one playthrough. Proceeding underleveled is one of the main factors that makes higher difficulties harder.
  15. This was one of my favorite articles. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much demand for content like this that's directed at the VN fanbase.
  16. No, Sakura Train would be like this, except with 5% of the production values and cuteness.
  17. Well, they ARE going for the Nekopara and Sakura series demographics with this.
  18. Who's bashing it? There's nothing to bash yet, except that the DLC costs more than the game.
  19. > Large budget > into disposable scenes with no emotional value That would be a hilarious mismanagement of resources if true. I still have the sneaking suspicion that the price doesn't in any way reflect the actual split of development resources.
  20. The patch costs more than the game. lolwut. Also, take a look at the bizarre statement at the bottom: Looks like they went to a lot of trouble to reduce their own sales.
  21. The trailer and 3-line "premise" are utterly uninteresting. But we all knew Sakura Mikos would be coming to a hot-air facility near you. That they used "shrine maiden" instead of "miko" is a great surprise, however.
  22. My experience is fighting enemies that are consistently 3-6 levels higher than my own teams. That's a wildly different situation than fighting enemies that are 10-30 levels lower. It sounds to me like we're describing completely different games. Did you play Normal mode, Hard mode, and Eternal mode back to back with no playthroughs inbetween? Because the game balance assumes you do that. Going back through Eternal Mode with LV80-90 characters is obviously a different experience entirely than starting from LV55 or so.
  23. I found All-Rounders except for Euphoria and Narukana mostly useless. Nozomu All-Rounder is nearly worthless in Hard Mode against a double green spirit team with an AoE block and a healer. He also runs out of high-powered skills quickly and his IP isn't great. Black spirits are even more useless since they lack healing ability and will take high damage from red spirits. Sorluska pairs well with Nozomu, however. Boost his basic HP % attack with Inspire and he does massive damage against All-Rounders and good damage even against green spirit defenders. I paired Katima with Naya for concentrated AoE damage, and that was very effective against most formations. A red spirit on defense or a blue spirit banishing could throw a wrench in it, however.
  24. It's unsafe to connect to the Internet with an unsupported OS. Anyone still using XP right now does so at their own peril.
