Probably because there's a reason he hates them? Chances are it'll be brought up in the actual story so it makes sense that they're not going to just up and tell you everything about him from the get-go.

Hmm, yeah I'd always go with more space. Japanese has the benefit of being a pretty concise language. No spaces, subjects are implied a lot of times, and words rarely go beyond 4 kanji in length. English just naturally takes up more space, so it's nice to be able to write lines without worrying about going over a limit. Concision is good, but there are also plenty of times when you want a line to be extremely detailed.

Himawari is frontwing I imagine both of them will get Chuablesoft. He mentioned talking to both, and he seemed enthusiastic so why not.

Japanese companies did used to send C&Ds way back a couple of years ago. Cartagra was hit with one, which led to it being licensed, and the same happened with Ef. Hoshizora no Memoria was too, but staircase ignored it and nothing came of it, because as he said, pursuing it costs money and it's not in their best interest to waste time and money over it. https://warosu.org/jp/thread/6371848#p6373388 If you look at the old VNTL statuses you can see a few other projects that were hit with them, like Concerto Note and Ikusa Megami Zero. The only notable C&D I remember being sent out by a licensing company was the whole deal with Da Capo III.

You'd be surprised. Frontwing apparently found out about the guy that translated Chiruchiru, and there wasn't much at all floating around about that project.

Hmm, I'm sure you'll be revisiting that statement by the end of convention season.

On the topic of SonoHana, I almost wonder if they specifically wanted to shy away from releasing any translated titles out of fear that they might not sell well. I remember seeing a post from years back saying apparently some of the people translating SonoHana stuff at the time tried contacting Fuguriya about localizing some of their stuff officially, but didn't hear anything back. So maybe they were a bit unsure about the market coming in, which is why they wanted to start with an all-ages title that would sell more. Either way, there's still a few big untranslated SonoHana titles they could easily go for that would sell, namely https://vndb.org/v10700 , https://vndb.org/v12645 , and https://vndb.org/v16262 , and I doubt they'd have any problem finding people willing to translate them.
