  1. Well the thing is his Hoshimemo translation actually did release on April 1st... so who knows.
  2. Well, in this case, we aren't talking about the Japanese developers, because they aren't the ones who pay for translation. Debonosu published Kogura Douchuuki on their own, so they were the ones who oversaw translation and payed for it. Considering how Sekai Project apparently pays their translation staff very generously, I doubt they'd be stingy enough to avoid 18+ versions altogether just because they don't want to shell out a bit of extra money.
  3. Well, no shit. Kagura Douchuuki is a rape dungeon crawler, with a good number of those rape scenes. Compare that to say a normal eroge, where the h content might only make up say 5% of the text. Also you have to keep in mind that Debonusu literally don't care about the end product, they only care about the money. These are the people who, instead of finding a real translator and putting in effort to produce a nice script, would rather just get someone (if they don't just throw it in google translate themselves) to do a shitty hack job on it because it's easier for them. You can't say they aren't aware the game is full of incorrect grammar everywhere when you have people on steam pointing it out to them.
  4. I'm not seeing what's your point. What's there to lose in making an 18+ version? Total sales can't possibly go anywhere but up by doing so, and the effort required is basically little to nothing if all you're doing for the steam version is taking out h-scenes of an originally 18+ game. Also, Denpasoft doesn't really have the best titles right now to judge sales. EVNs and Nekopara appeal more to casual fans, and some of them have steam fan-patches which dissuade people from buying the 18+ version. Grisaia was released months after the steam version, and also existed as a fan-translation for about 2 years. Once they release they release more long Japanese titles on there, you'll probably get more conclusive results provided outside factors don't come up, like steam patches.
  5. Maitetsu doesn't actually "focus" on ero-content as all the game's ero is unlocked and played through the main menu. They have a shit ton of it, but that's just Lose wanting to make a bunch of loli diddling scenes, rather than them wanting to make a game focused on sex. Also I feel like people are blowing out of proportion what impact this game being on steam will have. A good number of the casual people that stumble across it on Steam won't even know an 18+ version is out there. Also, most likely they'll just censor out every instance of loli nipples, and leave in the bath scenes, because in all honesty nobody is going to stir up major shit about them being naked. I'm willing to bet Prisma Illya has dirtier loli stuff than the story of this game.
  6. The issue with shiny days was the fact that Makoto very obviously raped Kokoro in some of them. There was a consensual scene with a girl that was basically Kokoro's age that got left in. Even if you don't care for the content being removed, there are people that like that stuff, and it should at least be understandable why people would be a bit disappointed. I don't particularly care for lolis that young-looking, but I at least think it would be a shame if the content never ended up coming over.
  7. They've said before that whether or not a game gets a 18+ release too is up to the willingness of the Japanese developer, and there's only been one case so far where they haven't. Add that together and I don't think there's much reason to believe they actively try to stop their 18+ original games from being released on Denpa.
  8. Because making an anime is expensive, plus you'd have to find a studio willing to work on it. Making a short hentai is much, much easier.
  9. Makura is trying to figure out how they're supposed to sell the game not on steam without going through any other company.
  10. Their other two games are too. I think AstralAir mainly uses locations in Sapporo. I remembered seeing a website that had all of the places on it, along with locations from other games, but I couldn't find it.
  11. I have no idea if the biggest problem is translation accuracy or the writing, though I'm guessing it's the former. At first glance going over a few parts, the English is readable (I'm guessing the editors got rid of any grammatical mistakes made by the people involved who have poor English), but could still use a lot of work. There's plenty of other fan-TLs that read like that, so it's not like it would particularly stick out or anything.
  12. Actually, most people can't even spot bad translations, only really bad ones. Translations like Flowers and White Album 2 are only recognized as bad by most because they're absolutely horrendous (and also because others point out how wildly inaccurate the translations are).
  13. Plenty of active users on here say the exact same, so it has nothing to do with that. It's just that complaining over nothing for the sake of complaining gets pointless after the thousandth time.

  16. I'm pretty sure the rub a dub dub thing started out in anime fan-translation before g-senjou. From what google told me, the earliest usage of it was in a gg release of toradora (2008), though it could've been used earlier. If you remember gg subs you'll know how much they loved their trolling escapades.

  18. The problem is that a lot of times this is entirely impossible. A great number of otaku-related material is made with a Japanese setting, and made by Japanese people for a Japanese audience. With simple language things, you can get around this easily for the most part, barring a few exceptions like "itadakimasu". However actual cultural events, you can't simply change, which is why otaku-related stuff will always have a Japanese feel to it no matter how good of a translation you produce.

  20. Well, at least if JAST does do the rest of the Flowers series, they'll probably get someone who knows what they're doing. This whole situation makes me think JAST sought out someone to do this translation because they had no one else to, and ended up finding a sub-par translator, but now it's too late since they have to release it soon. All of the other localization groups seem to have a good amount of translators in their pool to choose from, but it seems like JAST doesn't. A lot of their recent translations have been done by translators that mostly work for Mangagamer too. Maybe that's why they aren't picking up many new titles or partners.

The problem is that they somehow managed to edit words spelled correctly into being incorrect spelled, even in sentences where they literally changed nothing but that single word's spelling (such as an is into an it, when the line was already correct). I'm not even sure how you manage to do that. Either way, the "new" demo isn't really inspiring, and the overall quality is still atrocious. If it stays like this, I'll probably avoid this title altogether, because as it is now, the errors are way too distracting.
  22. Well, I assume being able to fluently speak both languages means you can realize when one thing in one language means in entirely different thing than another sentence in the other language. One of the mistakes was literally as basic as confusing "X said __ , I responded with Y" as "I said ___, X responded with Y". I can't imagine that someone making errors like that is fluent in Japanese.

  24. Funnily enough, they actually cut out a lot of detail in translating the lines, probably to try and avoid being too redundant. That approach is fine and all, but they overdid it a lot in here, which made a lot of the characters seem like they had no personality at all.
  25. Uh, GamerGate has nothing to do with it. Sakura fans are essentially just the group of people who watch ecchi anime. They're a group that has been around long before GamerGate. The only game that probably received more sales because of GamerGate was Huniepop, because the creator was basically one of them.
