  1. I recommend a VN titled The Best Eroge Ever. Apparently it was made by Moogy, which is a bit of a surprise. I didn't know he dabbled in VN creation.
  2. I just had a look at it, and honestly I didn't really like it. I think Tiago phrased it best:
  3. This thread coincidentally applies to me, as I just finished High School. (It's actually a bit more complicated than that, as I am graduating with 2 years of college credit as well. As academically speaking I finished High School 2 years early). Seeing as how most anime and VNs center around High School characters, I feel like I won't be able to relate to the characters in my porn games anymore. I'm honestly scared to think about the future, and always cringe when the topic comes up. All I know is that I'm finishing up college and I have no idea what to do after that. Maybe grad school, maybe not. Anyway, thanks Batman!
  4. Kaiji. After watching 1 episode of Kaiji, I guarantee you will not want to stop until you finish the first season. (Season 2 is an optional watch in my opinion).
  5. Because Microsoft has a bad history of releasing half-assed new operating systems. I'm always at least a generation behind to ensure that I use something that is good. For instance, I used XP when Vista was the newest system, and I bought a win 7 laptop when windows 8 was new. To put it quite simply, I hardly trust Microsoft; but I'm too lazy to hassle myself with Linux. On top of that, I'm not a particularly techy person. So long as I can watch all my anime and read all my VNs without a problem, I'm happy. Also, I like familiarity. I don't like change as it's a pain in the ass to deal with. So that's why I personally don't want Windows 10.
  6. I always ranked it Aeka -> Nekoko -> Mizuki. At least we can both agree that Mizuki's is the weakest route. Although, Mizuki's route does have one of the best sex scenes in eroge history. For those who read her route, you know what I'm talking about
  7. Lol same. Just today I received data that was collected from my school a few months ago regarding physical health. Apparently my BMI is "very low" so much so in fact that I am placed "below the 1st percentile for boys aged 18 years". For anyone wondering, no I do not have any eating disorders! I eat when I want to, however much I want to. It's just that my appetite naturally tends to be small. Personally I don't believe in working out for vanity reasons. If you want to train your body, you should train your mind and spirit as well; which is why I think more people should do martial arts. I myself practiced Tae Kwon Do for 6 years, but quit 3 years ago due to academic pressures and consequently haven't worked out since.
  8. Guy's you aren't seeing the true brilliance of what Winged Cloud is doing here. They are cleverly setting the bar so low, that with each subsequent sequel, the Sakura games can only improve. By gathering great publicity thought the notoriety of the first few games, they will shock us with the Shakespeare level quality they are saving for their last game.
  9. I just read your article on the lewdgamer website. I completely agree that censoring a nukige is stupid and does not deserve to be rewarded with a purchase. That's just as dumb as buying a porno where all the sex scenes were cut out. Which in my view is just as dumb as watching an ecchi anime (you might as well go with full blown hentai). But I think Steam's censorship polices can be good for VNs in the long term. Thanks to the censorship policies story based VNs are starting to sell better than nukige focused ones (I think that's what you alluded to in the article). With Steam as a tool to expand the market, we can reasonably hope to see more story based VNs get localized. And hopefully even see higher quality OELVNs get developed.
  10. I really love the way you explained this. Just had to point that out.
  11. Windows is telling me to "reserve your free upgrade". If I don't don't click that than I can keep my lovely windows 7 right? I feel like Microsoft isn't beneath forcing this damn new operating system through my mouth by including it in an automatic update. I really don't want windows 10. Am I safe?
  12. You have my sympathy, not that it is much of a consolation. During Christmas time a similar think happened to me, the worst part is that this past spring semester we ended up sharing 2 common classes, which made getting over it harder.
  13. Who knew it would ever come in handy, until now?
  14. I was so about to list you for girls generation, but in the end I left the answer blank (yeah I know, the stupidest think I could do since I might as well guess). The reason I didn't list you for Girls Generation was because the only people I know irl who listen to them are guys and I assumed people only listened to their music videos for their looks, lol. (Never listened to one of their songs btw) For those who didn't get my fact right last round, you will have a much harder time these next two rounds. I can swear me and Sanahtlig are probably the only active users who have been around since early 2013 who never changed our avatars. By the way, I got a 15%, which sounds way better than admitting that I only got 4 right, lol.
  15. The votes are getting really close between Yume Miru Kusuri and Symphonic Rain. Both are fantastic VNs and whichever one gets voted, I still recommend reading the other one afterwards.
  16. For those interested, I'm in the process of writing an analytical article on Yume Miru Kusuri (in a similar fashion to my Narcissu, and Saya no Uta articles). So if that gets voted, then you can look forward to my spoiler filled analysis afterwards. Progress on the article has been on hold due to the fact that I have two large research papers to write for school. But I should hopefully be able to have the article finished by late June. (However it probably won't get published until a week or two after I finish it, since I have to revise it and coordinate with Zaka). That said, as much as I love Symphonic Rain my vote is on Yume Miru Kusuri.
  17. It's been a while since I watched School Rumble, but thanks for the correction. It's definitely my favorite comedy anime. It always sucks how the people doing the actual work usually get the short end of the stick (factory workers, animators, etc.). Whereas management and investors who do comparatively little work get paid the most. This is why my political views are pretty far to the left. -.-
  18. I've known for a while that jobs in the anime industry were intensely demanding. Hell, I remember this one joke in the anime School Rumble where the main character who is a manga artist interns for a day at an animation studio. By the end of the day he leaves screaming "You anime people are crazy!", and returns to doing manga (which is already a pretty demanding job). Up until now I thought that was mostly a joke, but no, it's true. The demands and work conditions in the anime industry are crazy. Here is a link to the article I have been responding to: Japan’s Animation Industry Isn’t Just Tough, It’s “Illegally Harsh”.
  19. Lol, the conversation has probably long past the relevance of this comment, but I am that guy. You know, the nerdy guy who rejects the attractive popular girl. Albeit physically I don't think I look so nerdy, but my personality and interests definitely are; and that's why I did it. I think people commonly think that a nerd/geek/(otaku in my case) would go out with an attractive and popular girl given the opportunity. But the problem is that we are too different. Her friends, hobbies, and personality don't align with mine. I would be an alien and would socially feel uncomfortable around her (or maybe not her, but definitely I would feel uncomfortable around her friends). I would rather have a slightly (emphasis on the word slightly as I do have my limits) less attractive girl who matched my personality, than a girl with whom we only shared mutual lust. And my actions have reflected this belief. The only real problem is that there is a girl who I think I would be a good match with, but I haven't had the opportunity (nor do I have the balls to make the opportunity happen) to do anything about it. But I fully acknowledged that this is completely my fault for my own spinelessness.
  20. You basically summed up why I prefer the anime to the VN in way less words than I would have used. Admittedly I did, although it appears even Conjueror who did read the VN first also preferred the anime.
  21. By "professional student" do you mean graduate student? Or were you referring to something more obscure? I don't know much about the game journalism industry, so I can't give any advice to InvictusCobra. But Zodai seems to to know what he is talking about, and I agree with his suggesting to start your own blog or YouTube channel. Personally I am leaning towards becoming an academic, specifically a Cultural Anthropologist with a specific focus on modern Japanese culture. Academia is already a saturated market, and considering a tenure-track position in anything within the Humanities/Social Sciences is just (>.>). But my father is an academic (History and German Lit), and so was his father (German Lit); it's sort of the family trade. On top of that I'm confident in my ideas and ability to express them on paper.
  22. I really am kind of speechless. Strokes can be quite pernicious, and I lost my grandfather to one. In fact, he had one before 4 years before he died; and it adversely effected the rest of his life. I really hope this is something you can recover from and isn't too serious. You still have so many VNs to read, and therefore new Yandere's to discover!
  23. Ef a fairy tale of two is pretty good, but this is one of those few cases where I actually preferred the anime adaptation. Ef a Tale of Memories, that is.
