  1. I agree with this statement.
  2. You've seen so many damn anime Nosebleed, I tip my hat to you. I recommend Green Green, for being so generic and bad that you would rather watch paint dry. Angel Sanctuary is an amazing manga, but the 3 episode OVA series it got was trash. It had sooo many great ideas, but couldn't execute any of them properly. (Again the manga does things properly and is actually a masterpiece).
  3. Wow, thanks for sharing this. I honestly had no idea before this recognition post.
  4. It really does.
  5. I finished reading the entirety of both threads that Heizei_koukousei recommended. And they are indeed very interesting. If you have the time, I also recommend checking them out. I'll even link to them again:
  6. Well, as you already know. Writing books is very different from writing VNs. ;P I even remember somebody from Dischan once saying they had to drop one of their writers because he wrote too much like he was writing a book. And the point that I said previously about how it bothers me when people create "VNs" and they've hardly read any themselves (or interacted with the community) still applies. I feel like for anybody to make a good VN (whether it is in Japanese or an OELVN) it has to be somebody who understands what makes a good one. And usually that requires reading several good ones first.
  7. But she is. Also, Tiago's stuff is really good. And that has nothing to do with the argument. So it's still totally worth checking out.
  8. I agree with what Aaeru said in the second thread you linked to, particularly this part: First of all, I think Aaeru completely succeeded in doing this; and I wish she could see the community now. Regarding Fan translation quality, only elitists really care. Obviously if a translation is noticeably bad, then even regular people will complain. But most fan translators who manage to finish a project; generally had their skills tested enough. If they can complete the project, the translation is probably good enough for most people (especially for those who don't know Japanese). These days the only time I notice people complain about translation quality. They usually either know Japanese, or they are Rooke. And in the case of the former; I feel like those people fall into the category Aaeru was criticizing as being elitist. They seem to be flaunting their ability to read Japanese, and are looking down on the people who have to read a fan translation. Or at least that's the impression I usually get from them.
  9. You might be interested to know that I've gotten all the questions with you correct. But the reason for that is because I guess you for all the answers I don't know.
  10. From what I've noticed. Most western indie game developers think: Visual Novel = Dating sim. This is especially true for those that aren't familiar with the VN community. In fact, it astounds me how many people in the west make "Visual Novels" but ignore or know little about the western VN community. Palas. If I had the money and influence over this project, I would totally hire you as the writer.
  11. I felt the Kanon 2006 adaptation was slightly better than the original VN as well. Like Kaguya, I preferred the anime to the VN as well. Coincidentally also like Kaguya, I rated the anime a 7 as well. I only recommend reading Kyou's and Tomoyo's routes in the VN, because they both compete for the spot for best girl. ^^
  12. That's hilarious. Even lawyers can't help with the problems we face in this obscure hobby! xD
  13. Whore has become a legend... A notorious legend.
  14. Welcome! It's always nice to have some one from the OELVN community join us. Symphonic Rain is a great VN, and if you haven't already I highly recommend checking out this /index.php?/topic/1922-symphonic-rain/">Symphonic Rain discussion thread. There were some really interesting posts in it, particularly from page 4 on wards. Also Tiagofvarela posted some really interesting thoughts/reactions starting on page 5.
  15. Thanks for the response. You successfully got me more interested in the VN. I'm glad to hear it's not too difficult, but I'll still save it for a while.
  16. I'm guessing that's why your avatar changed to the default one. Good luck on fixing whatever the problem is.
  17. Fair enough. I agree that a couple of the Aya scenes were used primarily as fanservice in bad taste.
  18. Confession: I've never been to the Love Live thread, and have no intention of ever going there. I don't even know what Love Live is, lol.
  19. Fuwa Fuwa Time from K-On:
  20. The premise of the story and setting honestly interests me. Furthermore I am interested in seeing a VN that attempts to stray away from the standard cliches. I'll definitely at least check the demo out.
