It depends on your school and teachers. I honestly enjoyed High School. I will miss the teachers that had an impact on me, as well as all my friends. Tomorrow is my last day of class. I'm kind of sad about that.

Damn it Fiddle, you beat me to it. Of the old Fuwa staff that left, I really miss Ryoji's presence. Ryoji was usually really nice and I loved reading his posts on anime. I still refer to him as the Sage of Anime, simply because he has been watching it for so long. I also thought it was cute how his wife (the user Kotomi) occasionally posted on the forums. Fuwanovel definitely changed for me when Ryoji became less active and left. I won't list specific users who I would miss if they left, since I view the Fuwanovel community as an ecosystem. Similar to what Getsuya said, everyone has their role in this community. If an active user left, even if they weren't that well known, their absence would be noticed. One thing I don't like about these type of recognition threads is that they tend to be exclusive. Especially for less active and newer members.

Is this that surprise you were telling me about? Hmm... if I win I could get Sakura Spirit and finally see for myself just how bad great that VN is. Also congrats on finishing 9th grade!

Is there professional criticism of VNs in Japan?
Zalor replied to starlessn1ght's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I'm not denying that writing a good review doesn't take time and effort, and a part of me also thinks that people should be compensated for that. It's just I think reviewers exist in a weird part of the economic food chain. Reviewers would have no job if creators and developers didn't make stuff, while on the other hand. If reviewers didn't exist, creators and developers would still exist. Meaning that reviewers are completely dependent on the existence of another class of people for their existence. However, I suppose that applies to a lot of other jobs as well. Not to mention that criticism can result in improvements. Also there is the other point you mentioned that reviewers are a form of marketing. So I guess I change my previous position. I can appreciate seeing why some reviewers get paid, but I still think it's an odd job to have professionally. -
Fuwalegends~The Tale of Whore: The Fuwan Who Couldn't Even
Zalor commented on FidgetQueen's blog entry in Fuwalegends ~ As told by Fidget Queen
Later on the user named 'bitch' made a new account called 'whore' and a did a similar thing. Added a bunch of people and complained that Nosebleed hacked him. Quickly after sending the pm, the user 'whore' got banned. All around it was a pretty amusing experience. -
Lol, team members. Most of my team either forgot about this or procrastinated this until a few hours ago (myself included). Not really complaining though, I just find it funny that other teams actually manged to be productive.

Is there professional criticism of VNs in Japan?
Zalor replied to starlessn1ght's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Wow, that's pretty interesting. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but I think I like it. I think criticism is something best left to hardcore fans and the moment it becomes a profession it losses something (usually the passion) that non-professional criticism has. Also, while I can very easily understand why people who make and produce products deserve to be paid, I have a hard time understanding why people should get paid to criticize (and occasionally praise) stuff. I can make an exception for academics, however, since usually they don't criticize but rather analyze stuff and try to place those ideas into a broader perspective. -
I finally started, damn round 2 is hard...

A fan translation of Dies Irae battle scene 2
Zalor replied to Conjueror's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
To my knowledge, Conjueror is mostly doing this as a means to practice his skills in translating Japanese into English; both of which (I believe) are foreign languages to him. As for the likely hood of a translation team picking this VN up, I highly doubt that will happen in the near future. Even Moogy listed this as one of the hardest VNs to translate. If you're interested in why this is such a difficult VN to translate (which was a question I had a while ago), you should check out the discussion in this thread. -
Back when I was still relatively new to this site (and to the VN community in general) your constant use of terms like; nukige, chuunige, moege, utsuge, etc. irritated me. Some times I even had trouble finding definitions for some of the obscure VN terminology you used. VN community jargon no longer bothers me, and at this point I'm so used to it that those terms are now a part of my vocabulary too. xD However, in my view those weird jargony words are a great example of how the VN community can be a tough community for beginners to get into. That's pretty interesting. So western fans of Japanese visual novels created what you call 'Pseudo-Japanisms' like chuunige and charage, and now those western original terms that were originally inspired by Japanese Otaku slang has started to infiltrate the Japanese Otaku vocabulary. Wow, it seems that western VN fans have a bit more of an influence on the Japanese VN community than I originally thought.

Welcome To YandereGirl's Blog~
Zalor commented on DatYandereGirl's blog entry in YandereGirl Blogging & VN Reviews
I've been on this site for quite a while, and for the most part it has always seemed like people hardly care about what your gender is. In fact, considering that it was a women (Aaeru) who founded and ran Fuwanovel for its first year (late summer of 2012 - late summer of 2013) I don't think people cared much about gender. So I'm also interested in what DatYanderegirl is referring to. -
I started listening to that video, with this OST track playing the background: Playing both those two videos at the same time makes for a truly EPIC way to experience your moe. I recommend having the One Piece ost track slightly louder than the Hatsuyuki Sakura- Pya collection.

Lol, you remember that. My current avatar is an in-between size of my original one, and the big one I used for no longer than an hour. It took slight experimentation, but I ultimately found the perfect size! I feel Eternals deserve the right to find the perfect aspect ratio. Even for us, perfection can take some time to find. ;P

What's the purpose of adding people as friends in Fuwa?
Zalor replied to starlessn1ght's topic in General Discussion
It seems the thread derailed... Oh well, I'm still going to answer the op's question. I see it as a means of communicating that you are aware of the other person's existence on the forums, and find their content (i.e. posts, blogs, projects) interesting. That said, there are plenty of other ways of communicating acknowledgement and appreciation of somebody's online presence (like engaging in a pm discussion, or replying to the persons posts). But adding them as a "friend" is just another way of doing that. Personally I don't add people often because I'm rather shy (even online, lol). -
Woah, Hell Girl brings back memories. That was one of the earlier anime I watched. I was in middle School when I watched it. Hell Girl was really interesting, but too depressing and intense for me (at least when I was watching it all those years ago). After I finished season 1, I didn't bother with season 2 because the first season depressed me too much. If I recall correctly, I watched Azumanga Daioh after Hell Girl. I needed a nice comedy to remedy my depression. xD

If Eldin and Ryoji were still here, I'm sure they could list a good amount of obscure 80's and 90's anime most of us have never heard of.

I wasn't expecting you to continue this, but I'm glad you did. I'm a bit too busy to read it now, but I just wanted to post my gratitude. -
I still have to watch Penguindrum, but Utena is my favorite anime. I've rewatched it at least over 3 times. And I first watched only a year ago. While Utena is a bit underappreciated, I feel enough hardcore anime fans praise it, so it doesn't really need an exclusive mention. Just like how Legend of the Galactic Heroes isn't well known among most anime fans, but any hardcore anime fan/critic has at least heard of it, and anyone who has watched it praises it highly. Infact, regarding Utena. Apparently a Cartoon Network cartoon referenced it rather recently. You can see the clip here:

Another late introduction (better late than never)
Zalor replied to starlessn1ght's topic in Introduce Yourself
Welcome. Although I already recognize your username from the other times I've seen you post across the forums. Out of curiosity, why do you actively avoid H-scenes so much. Why don't you just use the "skip" function like most of us do? -
Thanks for this! Most of these series I have not heard of. Dennou Coil is the only one I already knew about, and you mentioning it bumped it up my priority list. I always enjoy exploring under-appreciated gems. So really, thanks for this passion filled list By any chance have you heard of Legendary Gambler Tetsuya? It's probably the most obscure and forgotten hidden-gem of an anime I've personally watched thus far. Admittedly I have a bias for gambling anime, but regardless I feel it is an all around good show.
