Introduction   Welcome, fellow Fuwamembers, to the FuwaRecognition thread. Starting this March, we’ll be highlighting some of the best contributions made by our members each month. And then we'll gather them here. Just for you.   *holds up giant APPLAUSE sign*   A-hem, so this is the f

Little Busters: The Apology

Hello. I am the guy who wrote that review of Little Busters that everyone hated because I did not like the game. Those poor people are doing just fine, however, even with my evil, vile, disgusting review out there still. I, on the other hand, have never been worse off. You see, I've been overwhelmed with guilt. I feel bad for what I did. I took a beloved visual novel, one that has changed the lives of many people, and slandered it with my negative review. Then I continued to ride that infamy I g

Star-Weaving Future Dream Arc Chapter 6: Photo Kano

As for this week title once again we have 'Star-Weaving Future Dream Arc' here because this week we have Hoshiori Sora's patch released back at 5th which is quite fast, and also we have Natsuki's route update which mean the 'arc' here was about to reach the finale because Natsuki's route is the last route that Tsurezure translated. As for Photo Kano the reason is simply because that VN (Adapted into the anime as well) did have a lot of photography with the MC was a member of photography club, an

VN of the Month October 2001 - Jisatsu no Tame no 101 no Houhou

Green Green and Jisatsu no Tame no 101 no Houhou are the masterpieces of the month with the latter being the winner, but I'm reviewing Assassin Ann . 1. Green Green グリーングリーン [011005] Overdrive 1 2 Green Green takes place in Japan’s countryside, in a non-descript region with forests and an isolated boarding school known as Kanenone Gakuen (鐘ノ音学園, literally translated as Sound of Bell Academy). The academy boasts of an entirely male population, and prides itself of the tradit

Rege ~Saisei no Ubugoe~ リジェ ~再生の産声~ [Sarang]

Eldritch Academy (Yuri VN Review)

Disclaimer: I was provided with a free copy of the game by the developer. All opinions presented are solely my own. One of the interesting differences between yuri in Japanese and Western VNs is that while in Japan it’s mostly limited to a very specific niches, with either nukige or fluffy high-school romance dominating the genre (meaningful exceptions can literally be counted on two hands), among EVNs the theme is prevalent enough to frequently find its place in all kinds of stories. VN of the Month September 2001 - Eve: The Fatal Attraction

Eve: The Fatal Attraction has no rivals this month. Among other masterpieces I'll call Memories Off 2nd. I'll be reviewing Rije ~Saisei no Ubugoe~. 1. Itsuka no Sora いつかの空 [010907] Sweet Basil 1 Our hero is a sophomore college student living by himself. He has a childhood friend that is a girl, but he doesn't have a real girlfriend. His hope of finding someone special is fading away when his part time job eats up his time. Then he meets Eri, who happens to have lost her mem

The Schools of Charage/Moege harems

First, I'm going to state that all charage/moege are harem-ge (with the exception of kinetic novels with only a single heroine).  In all these cases, you have a bevy of heroines that are, at the very least, friendly with or somehow attached to the protagonist.  There are a three standard types of harem that I consider to be general umbrella types.  These harems do not include nukige sex-only harems or the type of harems that pop up in gameplay hybrid VNs, as these often have distinctive story-ex

Physical visual novel news for March 2019

Sol Press managed to get Irotoridori no Sekai funded so congratulation for all that hoped for the kickstarter to succeed (I already have the japanese physical editions, but I am glad for those who wanted an english release). For those who for some reason didn't notice the kickstarter and want the physical edition there will probably be a backerkit up soon and I would assume that it is somewhat likely that they plan to sell some physical copies through Hyourin.   The voting for the wall

Spiral!!

Spiral is the latest game from Navel, the company responsible for Shuffle and Tsuriotsu.  This is also based in the same world as Shuffle, albeit a generation later (which is suitable, seeing as it has been almost a generation since the original Shuffle was released).  For those who aren't aware of this fact, the original writer of Shuffle, Agobarrier, died a back in 2016, and it is perhaps inevitable that the world he created would end up looking a lot different once someone else took over comp

Mermaid Time Review

Foreword - Since we still didn't have admin Tay fix the main page for VNTS and thus Decay can't make VNTS here, I decided to omit the foreword here starting from the next week. Anyway here's this week VNTS Review and I hope that you'll enjoy it. Seeing that we finally got 'My GF is Mermaid' released for Switch by Sekai, I decided to adapt Assassination Classroom chapter titling (XXX Time) by adding word 'Mermaid' so we have 'Mermaid Time' as this week title. The reason is simple, because in

Bittersweet Fools [minori]

Foreword: I have a very strange history with Bittersweet Fools. I started playing it about two years ago, and finished it only a year later. But the most important question is why this first minori game neglected that much? I believe I know the answer to this question. On Writing: Creating a World vs Telling a Story

On my journey to try and write a complete story, I found it incredibly satisfying creating my story's universe. Mostly characters, relevant parties, and cause and effect. So after a few months of creating, I end up with a decent amount of details and a fair chunk of my story plot filled in.   But I haven't written a story. In fact, I haven't even completed a single scene in it's entirety. Strange.   These "details", feel so integral to the story. I feel like I'm creating the

VN of the Month August 2001 - Kimi ga Nozomu Eien

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien , Ashita no Yukinojou and Kagetsu Tooya are masterpieces of the month with Kimi ga Nozomu Eien being the clear winner. But I'm reviewing the lesser known Bittersweet Fools 1. Cast! -Private Heroine- CAST!-プライベートヒロイン- [010802] Bell-Da 1 Takumi Ogata enters Wakasagi-Gakuin, a school majoring in entertainment, to pursue his career as a writer. My Little Pony fan VNs, part 1

While probably few people following my VN-related writing know that, for quite a long time I had a peculiar relationship with the brony fandom. Being brought into the community by my RL friend, a popular fan-artist working under the pseudonym Pony-Berserker, I’ve written a few dozens of My Little Pony comic scripts and, more importantly, based my master’s thesis on researching the fandom – more specifically, exploring the bizarre world of MLP fan erotica. While my current involvement with Bronie

Cosmos no Sora ni 秋桜の空に [Marron]

Foreword: It's a non-voiced nakige, so I'm ill-suited to evaluate such game. But it proved to be a masterpiece even in my pretentious eyes. Game does not have a true route, so according to my review codex I only play two routes for such games - one for the heroine that seems to be the main heroine and one for the heroine that I like the most from the rest of the heroines. That's Suzuka and Haruhi routes for me. Three omake side stories are of purely comical nature and are not touched in order no

Some thoughts: A few Months later

It has been almost six months since I ceased VN of the Month.  I can say now that while I do, surprisingly, miss some aspects of that particular column, the freedom giving it up has granted me is far greater compensation.  When I was doing VN of the Month, I was literally the only person commenting on most of the non-nukige VNs in a given month.  I was driven by a sense of obligation to those who read my blog to continue regardless of what it was doing to me and my life, and I can say now t

VN of the Month July 2001 - Cosmos no Sora ni

The only masterpiece of the month is Cosmos no Sora ni, and YES, I'm going to review a nakige! 1. Nakoruru ~Ano Hito kara no Okurimono~ ナコルル~あのひとからのおくりもの~ [010706] Inter-Let's 1 This game tells the story of one of the characters from SNK's popular fighting series Samurai Spirits: the girl Nakoruru. She comes from Kamuikotan, a small village on Japan's most northern island, Hokkaido, which is populated by Ainu, a nation with its own culture and traditions. The time of t

Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai Thoughts 1

(Light spoilers) Wow this game is long as hell. What made the game so long is how wordy it is. As a writer myself, I got irritated as why can't the author just be concise and straight to the point. I don't mind if it has an insanely long paragraph I'll read it as long as it feels important, which Oretsuba's writing fails at. I don't need a whole paragraph describing how Takashi bought something at the vending machine. I'm guessing that the aim was to create a strong image by describing it a

Nekogami-sama to, Nanatsuboshi -Imouto no Ane-

As always, I played the one with the catgirls.  lol This VN is a kinetic novel from the makers of Karenai Sekai, Sweet & Tea.  At this point (the third game) the pattern the makers of these games are following has become apparent, though this game is not really on the same level as Karenai Sekai or Kemono Musume.  The protagonist is generally amusing (he is the type that constantly sends conversations off track by saying random crap and then forgetting it ten seconds later), and his sur

LoveKami -Trap Goddess- Review

Foreword - No VNTS, so here's my VNTS Review for this week even though I'm quite late for this. I hope that you'll enjoy it. Before going to the title, let me comment that we have so many trap VN announcements at this week (Only two though). As for the title, since we'll going to have Konosora FD release tomorrow (At 27th) I decide to parodied one of Pulltop title (LoveKami) by adding another new 'release' for them, and the new release here should be 'Trap Goddess' in which it's also the pr

No Reality [Unknown]

Foreword: I spotted No Reality many-many years ago, but I lacked technical skills to play it properly - I had just one monitor back then, and game crashed at even sophisticated attempts to launch it in window mode or minimize in order to hook properly. Now with the help of agth and two monitors it's been a piece of cake. The most mysterious cyberpunk'ish game finally opened its doors for me.
