Just stumbled upon this: http://waifubartending.com/ That URL is a bit curious , but this is exactly what I mean by having your own flavor. Daring to have stylish, slightly pixelated graphics, that interlace effect, etc. I will be checking out the game soon and might drop an order if I enjoy it. Feel free to leave thoughts on the game !1 point -

Hi everyone! We, Arashi and Gogo, of the Translation Group "Twin Project" are currently looking for Translators and TLCers (Translation Checkers) for the otome game "Bloody Call" but editors/proofreaders would also be great! We have temporarily put our other translation projects on hold so that we can prioritize the release of Bloody Call and not have our time divided between all the other projects we were working on. Job Descriptions: Translators: (Japanese translators): Job: They translate every single bit of text that they can read and input their English translation. Requirements: They must know how to speak/read the language and know how to translate it into English. Proof Readers/Editors: Job: Check grammar, rephrase what needs to be rephrased, and fix any mistakes. Requirements: They must know how to speak, write, and read English and know how to correct grammatical mistakes. It'll also be good if the proofreader can speak the language it was translated from (though it's not required). TLCers (Translation Checking/Checkers): Job: They are like a translator (in the sense that they have a very, superior grasp on the Japanese language) so they have the ability to translate but are also able to look over script files done by other translators. And check for accuracy and quality of translation. Requirements: The person must have an Advanced-Intermediate level of Japanese. They must know how to speak/read the language and know how to translate it into English. Sign up Process: The only things we ask is that you have dedication and are trustworthy. All the translating/TLCing/Editing, etc will be done through our newly created google pages site: https://sites.google.com/site/xbloodycall/ In order to help us translate, proofread, etc, on the above site you must first get our permission to access our scripts. And in order to accomplish that, you must be an approved member of our group. If you are interested in joining us, please copy & paste the following Application Form into a PM on this site (https://forums.fuwanovel.net) to me, k_arashi or you can send this Application Form to our email at: [email protected] Application Form: Name/Alias (What you would like to be referred to as (when crediting, etc): Contact/Email (How can we contact you?): Timezone/Country (Mention your country or select a timezone from here http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/; This is for the sake of knowing our time difference): Availability (Only free during weekends? Only free at night? Free right now but busy next year?): Your Desired Position(s): How would you rate your Japanese ability from 1-8? (Please refer to the chart here URL: http://futagoproject.wordpress.com/2014/08/21/japanese-skill-levels/): Any other comments/questions, info you would like to say?: You can also join us on either of these sites... https://sites.google.com/site/xbloodycall/translation-access http://futagoproject.wordpress.com/join-us/ http://twinproject.weebly.com/join-us.html NOTES: -Once a member, I recommend you read the "Google Documents Guide for All Job Positions" on https://sites.google.com/site/xbloodycall/in-depth-guides -It’s very important that you send us an email if there's any time that you think you will be busy or going somewhere for a while. -We'll be able to keep track of progress as a team through our shared google pages site, however so that we know that you're alive and well, and continuing to be a part of our team, it'll be good if you could get back to us about any significant progress that you've made. Perhaps, once week or every two weeks? Whichever you prefer. I hope we can discuss this and come to some decision about this (: -If you have any questions AT ANY TIME, please ask them via our email: [email protected] or our Tumblr site: http://futagoproject.tumblr.com/ask Thank you! And if you're not able to help us with the translating process we'd love it if you could spread the word by promoting/advertising this group so people know that we exist and can see that we're recruiting members! Veteran VN player incoming
hotsauce2000 reacted to hellish for a topic
Hello. I don't know how I came across this forum, but I just find it hilarious that a group of western VN players gather together and talk about Japanese VN, with moe pics flying around the whole forum! To witness the once insurmountable cultural gulf between east and west easily shattered by the prodigious and absolute power of moe really brings tears down my cheek. Anyway, I hail from China, but can understand English and Japanese just fine, so for me there's no excruciating wait for translation, just pick up a game and play! As a video game player, I ONLY read VN on gaming consoles (PS,XBOX,etc), not on PC. I bet few people here, if any, read VN on gaming console, so I may start a new thread later to talk about VN on gaming console. So far I have read several famous VNs, like Ever17, Steins;Gate, Clannad, Tomoyo After, Little Busters, Sharin no Kuni, To Heart 2, 428, Root Double, DanganRonpa, Ace Attorney, Zero Escape, to name a few. I love gripping story (doesn't really mean the story has to be thrilling or full of suspense, an interesting story transpiring in normal every day setting is just fine), but good character design and music are also satisfying to me if the story itself feels a bit lackluster. I still have a long list of console VN in my to-read list, like Umineko, Muv-luv, Rewrite, Grisaia trilogy, White Album 2, Kono Oozora ni... Most of them are quite long, dunno when I can finish reading these all. Besides, new VNs keep coming out, so there's no end to this disaster, but at least I hope I can find haven in this forum, right?1 point -

Just finished Persona 4. What an amazing game. Story wise I liked Persona 3 FES (Which I played and finished last week) a bit more but everything else was better especially the gameplay, love that I could control all the characters now although the AI seemed pretty smart in exploiting weaknesses in P3. And coincidentally I named my character Yuu without even remembering the name he had in the anime (which I have seen when it came out) I don't have a PSVita to play P4 Golden so next I'm gonna play SMT: Digital Devil Saga series and SMT: Nocturne. (I played using the PS2 emulator for PC )1 point

eugh how do i even You find Mikado going over some tactics or some shizzle. You tell him the story, conveniently leaving out some of the more embarrassing points on your end. You give Mikado your other plan, and ask for the money. Come to think of it, you'd have to pay the geisha before the thief takes off his clothes and everything. Also, here's a collector's edition image of my attempt to make Mikado look down at the ground pensively.1 point

After several days of headache I'm happy to present you new AE VN Tools build, now with full YU-RIS v4.90 archives and read-only YCG images support (they're named as .png, although the structure has nothing in common with normal PNGs, apart data compression (zlib)). I'll add creation of YCG images only if there will be a need for this. Although it's not that hard (split image in half, compress each part separately), but I don't want to do extra work without a purpose. P.S. The tool is only able to generate YU-RIS archives of certain versions, yet can open any version from v1.00 to v4.00 with no code changes thanks to my heuristics algorithm. If you need support for a particular version, please let me know (supplying the version number and encryption flag (0xFF or alike, see "Format" line in the GUI) will be enough).1 point

Fate/Stay Night Realta nua PC full patch - Is it worth it?
crunchytaco reacted to Beato for a topic
Realta Nua includes tons of very cool effects that weren't possible to put into F/SN with the old Realta Nua patch. The CGs in the PC version are also in natural 800x600 resolution while the one's in the old patch are lower because they were ripped from the ps2 ver It is absolutely worth it. The version on Fuwa is going to be updated as soon as they are done with the route merge patch (because in the Realta Nua pc version the routes were split into 3 separate games. They are going to create a patch to merge them together.)1 point -

The default char name is in the exe itself. In the trial the surname is at 0x4c8964 and first name is right after it. Comes out really badly in-game for me though: "Sakuraba" doesn't actually fit, you're one byte short. So you'd have to edit the exe and distribute your own if you really wanted to set that name as default. The dictionary files are SQL files, did you edit them with a proper SQL editor? EDIT: Found where to edit the length as well: Still requires exe editing though. In a hex editor, edit the byte at 0xbd86, that's the length restriction, it's 5 by default. I don't know if this causes any problems with the game, seems to work though.1 point

Define "good" graphics. Is it the overall quality, resolution or hardware limitations? It's really hard to tell. For a lot of people, modern games like Bishoujo Mangekyou, Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete, Supipara or Both Qualia are what they consider high quality art. Will it mean older games like YU-NO, Kakyuusei, Mugen Houyou or even Sayonara wo Oshiete will be considered far worse in terms of graphics? A lot of people actually won't be even able to make the comparison. They will state old games have bad art and whole discussion will end, while a lot of older enthusiasts, including myself are clear it's impossible to even compare NEC graphics with modern high resolution art, which sports millions of colors. I still hold the overall graphics from PC-88/98 in high regard, since artists had to abide by tremendous limitations and yet managed to deliver such crisp and good looking art. On the other hand, it's not just a matter of art, but more a matter of boobs dressed up in good art for the game to sell, even despite it might have little to no actual story (vide Sakura Spirit). That's the actual issue. A lot of people thinks LB is the holy grail of the japanese vn industry, while the game itself (although quite decent) does not offer anything unusual except your standard Key fare. I can easily bet my waifu LB wouldn't be even half as popular, if not for the Kud. And that's another major issue, especially with western visual novel fans. One, which makes me dislike most of the western community a lot.1 point

You don't choose to be a hikikomori, you're forced into that lifestyle by either the society or your own inability - or both. There's a difference between being lazy and escapism, and being a hikikomori is the later. Those are just my two cents though, I'm no expert in sociology or psychology. As for AXANAEL, if you can understand spoken Japanese at least, you're pretty much set - there's little to none narration in that thing.1 point

Visual Novel Trivia Month!
Chronopolis reacted to OriginalRen for a topic
Had enough? We're just getting started. Listen in, and let's turn up the music! It is now Monday, and as I promised, it's time to post week 2 of the competition's questions in the thread. A quick reminder to everyone that the rules for the game are posted on the main page in the OP in case you need to be reminded about how it all works. Remember, do not post any answers in this thread! Once an answer is submitted via PM, there is no changing it. Feel free however to answer some questions earlier and save the rest of the questions for a later time. So long as you don't give me an answer or clearly state you do not know, you are still allowed a chance at getting those points. I will be posting a result's list later on this week of the current points and where everyone sits once I know who is all in the game after the 1st week. Finally, here is a list of important dates to remember: Week 1 = Ends Monday (08/25) @ 11:59pm CST Week 2 = Begins Monday (08/25) Week 2 = Ends Monday (09/01) @ 11:59pm CST Week 3 = Begins Thursday (09/11) With that, let's jump right into the questions. The theme? Music! Good luck, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Please identify the visual novel from which each of these 45 second music clips come from. Questions are uploaded in a playlist on my Mixcloud account which is linked below. Full points will be awarded for a correct novel name, where bonus points will be awarded for correctly identifying the name of the track as well. Answers will be accepted in English or Romaji. This round is worth a maximum of 20 points.1 point -
