Granted, it rebels against you and ends up killing your other giant demon slave. I wish I could fight well with a full cup of sake in one hand without letting a single drop fall from the cup.

VN where most of the Female characters are likable?
Kaguya replied to crunchytaco's topic in Recommendations
This is so subjective, I can't really recommend you anything. I guess if you told me what features you like in a heroine I could recommend VNs with similar ones, but that's as far as it goes. For example, hoshimemo- a bunch of people here recommended it. I actually didn't like any of the heroines in that game (with my favorite one being part of an archetype that I dislike to begin with). My favorite heroine in Fate Stay Night was Sakura, and I disliked both Saber and Rin, etc- without knowing what you like suggesting this kind of thing is impossible~ -
That's really soft play, isn't it? Besides verbal abuse and random bullying I don't think there's any softer than that. Seems like I'll have to restrain myself, tsk~ If you want the medical definition, I guess you could check the wiki out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sadism_and_masochism_%28as_medical_terms%29
-
Done, thanks for pointing it out, Clephas.
-
A sadist is actually the type who likes to torture others (like me, for example). A masochist is the type who likes to be tortured. I could give you examples of different S&M plays, but that tends to scare people away so I'll refrain from doing it now.

Good night, nii-chan. I'm going to keep at it because why not, though~ Couldn't you say the exact same thing for the translation? In the end, you'll never be able to gve an experience full to the original. There are different concepts and ways to express them that change the meaning of things when something is translated. If "And what I mean by original experience is the experience of the original eroge. The remakes are their own releases and have their own experience. It's not volatile, they're 2 different things." Shouldn't: "And what I mean by original experience is the experience of the original eroge. The translations are their own releases and have their own experience. It's not volatile, they're 2 different things" Ok, by now I'm just trolling. This argument I made here is poorly-constructed and blatantly fallacious. Seems like I'm having too much fun with this thread, fee free to disregard my two last posts~
-
Did you actually went after the bad arguments I made after I said that in the pm? How dilligent. I won't concede in the respect point. Doing a good translation of the work doesn't make you any more respectful to the person whose opinion you completely ignored and whose business you indirectly damaged now, does it?
-
As expected from my partner, you have some nice arguments now~ *goes back to playing devil's advocate* As expected of my partner as well, you've got some pretty high standards, huh. You're basically saying that you need the full experience or else you can't support the release at all, perhaps you'd be better off with the "-hime" than me, really. Think about it- they're certainly not giving you the full experience when they translate parts of it, but doesn't it seem too radical to just say "oh, a part is missing. Sorry, your efforts are insufficient to please me. Full VN or GTFO." Why is it that groups that leave a partial patch translating parts of some routes are totally ok but people who leave H-scenes out aren't? I mean, think of it- H scenes are generally just a small part of those VNs (since I'm yet to see a group translate a nukige and leave H scenes out. Unless you're like moenovel, but I'm not going into that now). That means the group successfully delivered you over 90% of the visual novel. Yet you still can't be satisfyed at all? Hell, with that much made, the probability of someone picking up what that group already did and adding the H scenes back raises a lot. Aren't you the selfish princess, nii-chan~ (I've been meaning to tease you since quite some time ago. Hehe, mission complete~) This is also a bad argument. It's the same strawman Flutterz did without meaning to, except it's the exact opposite. The thing there is that the overall quality increases this way. I'm pretty sure no one here would complain if someone picked Clannad 60 years from now own and added all sorts of incredibly cool effects- this is not what taking out H scenes is. A more fitting example would be someone copying the exact same movie and just taking out a random scene from it, while still kepping it in the 50's quality- I'm pretty sure most people would object to that. I still can't help but think neither side is right. You're all way too radical about it.
-
Well, people who played and liked the original Clannad would most likely agree with you there. I can't see why those who don't have an attachment to the game would complain, though. If we're talking the same level of quality as the rest of the VN, people would most likely just be fine with it. Again, I'm not on either side on this subject (or perhaps I'm in both)- I think either way is fine and people are making way too much of a ruckus about it. It's just a question of what you value the most, really. Still gonna play devil's advocate, though~
-
I will also point out that Flutterz argument seemed a bit like a strawman there, don't think you should rely on that type of thing too much- Sure, I'd hate it if some random guy added sloppy art to a patch, but that's because of quality, not permission. I assure you that most people would be ok if some amazing big-shot artist coupled with a key-quality writer (even if not from key) decided to make some extras to it.
-
Oh, so since it's normal in the universe, they have this mechanism in their body that automatically warns everyone in a 100 km distance that they're having private time with their pet, and thus others should stay away. I see, it makes sense.
-
Just to answer the question (and make the thread more broad- to include official translations, such as if my heart had wings)- if they paid me beforehand, they can do whatever they want. Censor it, change it, write a completely different story and only use the title- they have my blessings. If they didn't pay me, well, they better have a good lawyer. Who gave them permission to use my work at all? I would like to point out that your whole argument here is based on respect, nii-chan. And if we're talking respect, is it really ok for you to take someone else's work, translate it and put it for free without even asking that person? As the example I gave above, if someone took something I made and translated it without even asking me first, I'd be incredibly pissed at them, and a lot of the original authors do (the only fan translations I've seen that got the OK from the original author were the ones Witch Hunt made)- since you're doing something those authors mostly find disrespectful, can you even ask for respect from the fan translators at all?~ By the way, these aren't my actual views on the matter. I, as always, am neutral to the whole thing- I'm just arguing for the sake of arguing here (it's pretty fun!)
-
The first one is a topic asking a question- if more H scenes are being excluded. The second is a discussion on wether they should be excluded or not.
-
For more S&M oriented games, there's always the classic "dog walk" something no one sane would ever do- for some reason, nobody ever sees you when you put a collar in your lover and decide to have a walk through the park at night.
-
Topic was getting waaaaaay too derailed, made a new thread and moved things there. If you want to continue your previous discussion, do it here: https://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/topic/5025-translating-is-it-ok-to-cut-h-scenes/

So derailing. Much sadness. Continue discussion here, very thread, wow. ....
-
First of all, I won't enter on who is right or wrong here. To me, both you and Steve are being way too radical and I don't fully support either, since I think both are misusing originally valid points. I will say one thing to your argument here, though- companies don't care about wether something is important or not. It's all about the money- if they think having an all ages version will give profit, they'll make it- if they don't think so, they won't. That's about it.
-
They're pretty nice, I enjoyed them a lot. Finished them quite some time ago- I remember trying to troll nosebleed and make him get the bad endings in a stream, I think I almost managed to do it once.

Insects, now for the general female audience
Kaguya replied to Nosebleed's topic in Visual Novel Talk
If I ever decide to stream a VN after this has been released, it's totally going to be this one. Should be pretty fun, I think I'll read it. -
Have you played any of the stuff by Ryukishi? Higurashi, Umineko, Rose Guns Days and Higanbana. If you did, it'd be nice to hear your thoughts on those.
-
I don't mind cutting H-scenes if they're just "rewards" and don't affect the story- then again, it's not like I dislike them or anything. I just find using VNs for that terribly ineffective. In fact, there have been more than one time where I started thinking about how embarassing and awkward must it be for the voice actors to do that and started laughing in the middle of an H-scene. If they serve an actual purpose in the story, I think it's kinda bad, since I like reading the whole thing. Well, as Clephas said, I think it's actually less of a trend nowdays than in the past- it's just that more VNs are being tld lately, so it becomes apparent to most people. Eien no Aselia had H scenes and one entire route cut off from the translation because it featured too much H, for example.
-
Yes, I mean it. When you're after action, for example you won't go ahead and read 10 moeges/charages. It doesn't matter how many of them are translated- maybe you'll read one to try it out, but you won't read the exact same thing afterwards if you didn't enjoy it. If he ended up reading this type of VN by accident and he was frustrated that he couldn't find something else, the topic would be very different. He would either say something like "are there any VNs without X traits", "suggest me a VN that's not like X" or even "why are VNs always like X"- we have plenty of those around, actually. The normal for suggestions threads, when they post what they've read, is that they're looking for something similar to that. Sure he may be an odd one amongst that, but until I have any evidence of that, I'm going to go by the usual. If you were to look at my list of VNs, you'd find all of the first ones were a bunch of chuuni VNs. Tsukihime, Fate Stay Night, Inganock and everything else that was available at the time, really. There being a bunch of moeges already translated didn't make me go ahead and read them (and why would it?) If you want to continue the discussion, open a new thread and I'll move the posts there. This isn't the place for it, really.
-
I'll have to disagree with you there. When you post a list of what you played and don't say anything at all, you'd expect people will suggest you VNs similar to what's on that list. When someone wants to find something different, they generally post that they want a different type of VN or whatever. The thread with the lists are fine for doing your own research, but you can still post whatever personalized thread you want. We're not going to go all nazi on newcomers here. If you look at the list of VNs this person has read, he is looking for something quite specific- grisaia aside (which is a great game altogether, so it can kinda please everyone) his list is basically only moege and charage- He may or may not know the terms, but that's besides the point. If you're looking for moege and charage, Steve's suggestions aren't bad at all. Hoshimemo and Little Busters are great examples of those. Besides two those (which I would suggest for him) here's a small list of suggestions: 1-Katahane 2-Clannad 3-Yume Miru Kusuri 4-Katawa Shoujo 5-Ef- A fairy tale of the two Hope you have fun- if you want specific on those VNs, you can check my fifty VNs list, they're all there.

Creative way of narration using E-mote in Sweet light's new title
Kaguya replied to ken2260's topic in Visual Novel Talk
In the past, I actually used to like animated style in VNs (school days, for example, is fully animated) but now, I generally find it kinda bothersome. I like my VNs as similar to books as possible~ (of course, that's just me) -
Well, to be fair, the game isn't worth mentioning if not by the true route. I think it's pretty average, even then. Plus it takes quite some time to get there.
