    Asking for manga, so I can't really help him. Dunno if Clephas reads any either. And in the very off chance I read a manga, it's usually a chu2 story anyway. But you should play Symphonic Rain, if VNs are okay. Just turn off the minigame if it annoys you.

    I read VNs because of the story only, so I don't like the romance unless it adds to the other genres (like a romance making a sci-fi scenario get more tricky, or when having a romance with someone has heavy implications in society, it changes a lot of things in fantasy scenarios, etc). I can accept romance in "normal" settings if the story has a great drama, too. But yeah, overall, I think it could be removed from a lot of VNs, since it often feels too forced. Romance is not the kind of genre that I like, I guess.

    I always marathon VNs when I read them (even the longer ones, like fate or grisaia- doesn't take me more than 2 days to read those 50+ hours ones). Experience tells me that if you read more than one VN at a time because it seems too slow, you'll end up dropping the first VN enterily afterwards, but that's just me. Katawa is more of a romance, though- and there are plenty of different kinds of stories out there. So I think you should pick your favorite genre and read VNs of that genre first. Bem, espero ter ajudado~

    Gotta check dat VNDB link first xD I almost suggested Umineko, Dangan Ronpa, G-Senjou and S;G. I'll leave the titles here for anyone else who likes this kind of story (though S;G and G-senjou aren't exactly mysteries).

    For good VNs overall, you can check my 50 VNs list. Forest has some mystery elements and it's really nice (quite easy to fall in a bad end, though), and you should look at Sekien no Inganock and Shikkoku no Sharnoth, since both will make you think a lot about what's actually happening. All are translated.

    Yes, a protagonist with voice and personality really adds to the story, in my opinion. Unfortunately, you'll see tons of incompetent, good-for-nothing protagonists out there with no features that make them "human". Those are just H machines, blank slates- the reader is supposed to be the character. That's not bad per se, but it's not my kind of thing. This really depends on the VN, though- You'll notice that a lot of story-based VNs have voiced protagonists, while most VNs focused on "get a girl!" are unvoiced. You should check Clephas chuuni VN list, he should be able to explain this better.

    The VN "yandere" is a joke, people. They're pretty much just making fun of the archetype with that one. Here are some suggestions for you- Cross Channel, Tsukihime (in only one route, and she's not even the main heroine of that route, but.) and School Days. There are some more, but I'll leave it at that. Check out my 50 VNs list later~
