Latest story of those that happened to me was a pretty happy one. I was on a VN low without reading anything for like, months. Then @Clephas posted a MAD of Kajiri Kamui Kagura, featuring the Yatsukahagi. As someone who had loved Dies Irae, that video brought me so many questions I pretty much had no option but to play it. I know watching a MAD is basically asking for it, So, it was my fault, but it was completely unexpected. Yay, I guess.

Cross Channel is one of the best VNs I ever played, but it's not my suggestion- the translation is pretty bad and reading it in jp and in en are completely different experiences as of now (I'm tired of having to explain to people that CC is actually a good game ) My rec this month was Remember11, which is my favorite entry in the infinity series. Maybe it's because I haven't dealt with derailing in a while (our amazing BMs dealing with most of that), but I nowdays I find most of it ok if they're having a nice discussion going. I am conflicted on whether or not to hide some posts in this thread for a whole different reason, but in my opinion, if people are managing to make some fuwafriends with some small derailing it's fine... If anything, we're better nowdays- standard first line for discussions back in the day: " sigh, GODDAMNIT SHUT UP AND LISTEN. For 2 seconds just shut up and listen. Truly listen for a minute." I do think there's still a sense of community around. Just look at the newcomers, it's the same as its always been. They go, meet each other, make some nice little groups and praise the site to heavens and above. It's just that we have lots of old-timers leaving and I guess it feels like our circles are getting smaller and we're getting disconnected. Maybe I'm just an idiot, though. I dunno. And I wish Maeda well.

And no, sometimes you get story-focused games (oftentimes, actually) with faceless protagonists- or voiceless protagonists- or protagonists without a personality (often all of them) and that's what pisses me off the most. Having a generic face and a generic good-guy personality isn't particularly better, by the way.

Any faceless protagonist with no personality. Also, wimp protagonists most of the time, though I don't mind it when they're deeply explored.

I guess I wouldn't like seeing a little girl getting torn to shreds by a giant insect IRL. I dunno. Never happened, it might just get me super excited in 3d, too, though probably I'd just be scared. Jokes aside, guro, rape, mind-breaking, etc... I'd still love to do all those things, but it's not like I can. I know rapeplay is a thing, but it's just silly. What I do get to do often enough, as my wallet constantly reminds me, is softer S play, which is fine, I guess. BDSM is pretty fun.

Hmm... What about Utawarerumono- a mysterious masked man with amnesia is taken by a tribe and helps them out until tragedy hits and he becomes the village's leader, leading them and eventually conquering the whole of their world. Another similar one would be Rose Guns Days- the protagonist changes by the season and some are underlings, but it's basically the story of how this night club becomes a mafia power and then a hyper-nationalist group, set in fictional japan after WW2, with the protagonists being the main figures in the group's history. Other than that there's also Hanachirasu- the protagonist is the lover of the owner of a very influential group and he has her on his fingertips. Hanachirasu is a very poetic short story about revenge, though. Not sure it's what you're looking for. Well, give them a try if you'd like.

Feels like western art, which I'm not too fond of. That said, it still looks nice. 6/10
