  1. Perfect Insider seems pretty good, although the first episode was just about establishing the setting and the characters. It looks nice, the characters are interesting and it has philosophical banter/conversations I'm really fond of. In Bahamut I'm at episode 7 and I've been having a blast. Every episode just picks up right at the start and keeps you captivated the whole time, even when they don't end the previous episode with a cliffhanger. It's very satisfying show to watch.
  2. I remember thinking about doing a Witcher thread around the time Witcher 3 released, but never went through with the idea. Witcher is one of my favorite video game series and the books are one of my favorite books, so yeah I'm a quite huge Witcher fan. Loved every single one of the games, but I would say 2 is still my favorite. 3 is just too damn big, I always get intimidated a little when I start playing. I also didn't like how they dumbed down character progression and alchemy. (I think I still have a unpublished rant sitting around somewhere about that topic. ) The other combat improvements are awesome though. Here are some answers I still need to complete my second playthrough with different choices and do the quests I previously skipped, and I'm pretty hyped for the expansions. Oh, and one last thing.
  3. Marvelous released some info about the Blood Drive art book and soundtrack CDs, if anyone's interested. There's also a video with 18 minutes of gameplay. http://corpseparty.eu/updates/
  4. O_o it seem I'm quite the fanatic. Not how I though it would turn out, but I like it. Getting promoted to heavy seems like a bad joke at this point, but at least I was useful.
  5. I'm happy with everything except G-Senjou, and only because I'm already reading it and quite far in. It would be pretty sad to finish the monthly VN before the official starting date for two months in a row. I'll go with Symphonic Rain for now.
  6. Most of his attacks are quite heavily telegraphed and not too hard to dodge, especially if you try to get behind him. The only problem is the huge damage and AoE in the fire blast. Stray Demon is also meant to be late mid-game boss (after Anor Londo or while doing it), so it's no surprise to get slaughtered by him early in the game. The trap to Stray Demon is one of the most genius things in the game.
  7. At this point I feel like it's some kind of fate that every character with good aim turns out to be a heavy.
  8. Yeah, the difficulty in Dark Souls is almost perfect. It's challenging and fair enough to feel satisfying even after you've mastered the combat system and it supports self-inflicted challenges extremely well. But it's also fairly forgiving and because the game is relatively simple on the execution level, you can overcome every challenge with patience and by learning from your mistakes. And there's usually a some sort of safer way to handle things, if can just figured it out. This also applies to Dark Souls II most of the time, but it and especially the Scholar of the First Sin-version also suffers from some really unfair moments. The combat system in Souls-games works best when you're facing against one or two enemies, maybe little more if they are not clumped together, but when you're surrounded by hordes of enemies it's just frustrating. And Dark Souls II likes to do just that. Even if you can separate the enemies, most of the time it involves luring them outside their agro-zone one by one and it's not that fun either.
  9. It's perfect. Now let's just hope I'll do well on the field.
  10. 8/10 I like that smug smile
  11. The first episode of K: Return of Kings was mostly fanservice (in many ways) for fans of the previous season. It's gorgeous as ever with great visuals, wild camera work and colors. I just hope they didn't spend all the budget on the first episode. The soundtrack is also as good as expected. K: Return of Kings has everything I wanted from a K sequel, so I feel like I'm going to be happy with it. And I just want to see more of Homra.
  12. I started G-Senjou no Maou and read up to Tsubaki's bad end. I decided to do things little differently than normally and try to do all the endings in order using a walkthrough. I'm not sure if I like this approach, but since I've heard that the other endings are worth reading along the way, I thought it would be the best course of action. I haven't formed any strong opinions about it yet, other than it's pretty interesting. Especially the motivations and mentalities of the characters are really intriguing. That and the intense cat-and-mouse game segments are what I've liked the most so far. Oh, and the soundtrack is fucking godlike.
  13. Blood Drive hype!!! I'm eagerly waiting for my copy of the Heavenly Host Edition. Here's hoping the European release is about the same as in the US.
  14. It might not be the right season for this, but it's still a really beautiful song.
  15. Retrospective General questions 1. The picking for the next VN could start before the end of the previous month, so that you would actually have a month to read the VN. Also polls to gauge peoples opinions after or during the reading phase would be interesting. 2. It would be fun to play a longer gameplay VNs in tandem with others, but preferably within a longer time frame and as a separate happening. That way it wouldn't interfere with the normal monthly VN and I would have enough time to play it leisurely and not have to commit too heavily on one game. 3. I have perfect attendance! (Although I dropped Osadai after few routes because it bored me to death) 4. - 5. The month is pretty good time limit. I will still remember what I read even if I went through the VN in a flash, and slower readers should have enough time as well. 6. Yes. I like to read shorter VNs as change of pace anyways, so it would be perfect. 7. The current system works when there's enough interest, like in case of Comuy, but when there isn't the conversation ends up pretty dead. In those cases, periodical questions and having someone helping to keep up the conversation would pretty nice. 8. Mystery and more chuuni. Also playing Nakige or Utsuge as a club would be really interesting as well. 9. I don't really have anything specific I want to read, I'm happy reading what others want to read. (most of the time) 10. Trivia could be fun as would other activities. 11. Keep up the good work! The old VN club was my favorite thing when first joined fuwa, so I'm really happy to see the revived version doing well.
  16. I just randomly realized that the portrait was there during some conversation in Sango's route. I maybe should have figured there would be some meaning behind it, but it still feels pretty weird when you notice something like that without knowing the context.
  17. After reading Xblaze: Code Embryo I got a sudden urge to play Blazblue, so I've been playing around in Calamity Trigger. I'm really bad at it, but I've been having fun. Obviously the gameplay is really good and I'm really digging the vastly different characters. The story mode was also as interesting as I hoped. There's just enough serious stuff and comedy to balance each other out, and I can't help myself but to be drawn into the convoluted time-loop plot. I'm super hyped for the rumored PC release of Chronophantasma Extended. Maybe with that I'll finally start learning to play fighting games properly.
  18. I've been playing KoiRizo at times when I don't feel like doing anything else and it's perfect for it. It's simple enough to be just consumed without thinking too much and it never feels frustrating despite not being very good. Next up is Nagisa and then as a final treat, Shiori. I still haven't found any motivation to touch Umi's route. There's one thing that bothers me every time I see the CG for Nagisa's room. Why does she have portrait of herself on the wall? Who does that? It just seems really egotistical and weird.
  19. Finished Xblaze: Code Embryo It wasn't great, but not bad either. The story was fairly interesting and apart from the really disappointing side routes, I kinda liked it. I haven't really played Blazblue before, so probably I missed most of the references, but in exchange Xblaze made me really interested in playing Blazblue. The visuals and presentation are the most impressive part of Xblaze. The CGs and character models are good, and dynamic presentation is unique and really effective at the same time. My only complaint is that the image quality is sometimes pretty bad when they zoom in to the CGs. They way they use the zooming is pretty impactful at times, but when the original artwork has the same aspect ratio as the screen and you just up-scale it, it doesn't look that good. There's also a bonus gag route and it's super hilarious. It's full of memes, self-referential humor, stupid shit, over-the-top jokes and stuff like that. And it's short so the novelty doesn't wear off. Rainbow Meat/10
  20. I don't really have a good fantasy recommendation, but I've been interested in watching Rage of Bahamut: Genesis for a while, so I'll go with that.
  21. 22. +1 to Darker than Black I would also recommend Canaan and Baccano! Both have good action and mystery elements exists as well, although in slightly lesser extent.
  23. It's obvious that we need to watch Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid. There's no way it's not the best show of the season.
