  1. Got around watching Shiki over the weekend. It's really hard to talk about the show without spoiling anything, so I'm going to wait till others are done before talking about anything major. Overall impression: It's pretty great, I liked Shiki a lot. The beginning was quite slow, which I personally didn't mind at all, but it really gets going around halfway through. The atmosphere is good, rather than being scary there is this extreme unrest in the air. Subtle use of music, color filters and other visual effects enhances this greatly. I also really liked the visual style of Shiki. Some of the characters are super stylized with weird hair styles, others look like "standard" anime characters and some have almost realistic features. It's pretty fascinating how these different designs work so well together.
  2. Playing as jerkwad or homicidal maniac is only fun for so long, being generally nice is much more pleasant. But full-on paragon of virtue isn't that fun either, so I usually go with some kind of middle ground. Being good and nice to those who are nice, but not hesitating about using "evil" or questionable methods if situation calls it. Or if it concerns my companions and their safety. Friends before common good is usually how I choose. I also tend to do like Geralt; between evil and lesser evil, I rather don't choose at all. Also playing strictly "good" or "evil" character defeats the purpose of the moral system in the first place, at least for me. Why even bother if you're only picking certain answers in the first place?
  3. This was literally what I felt after reading the first three routes. Luckily Al Fine and Phorni's route turned out to be pretty great.
  4. I feel like we should do some recruitment or something, bring back Anime Club to it's former glory. Also everyone vote for Shiki.
  5. All done! Despite the slightly bothersome first three routes, Symphonic Rain turned out to be quite a pleasant experience.
  6. Well, I read Al Fine Next up is Phorni, and I'm already feeling exited about it.
  7. Damn, I was just about suggest Shiki myself. It seemed like the most interesting out of all the horror-esque anime.
  8. Finally finished Torta's route
  9. Yeah, I noticed that during the 3rd chapter. D: But I was mainly referencing to the length of the chapter, since I assume that more ends = more stuff.
  10. I decided to stop dilly-dallying with my Japanese studies and read something for a change. I ended up going with 紫影のソナーニル since I really liked Inganock and Sharnoth. And it's super beautiful, both aesthetically and in terms of writing, as one would expect from WAB-game. After reading all kinds of dialogue heavy VNs it's good to read something that feels meaningful, something where the writing does more than just carry the plot forward. It just feels so fulfilling to read something like this: 「わたしの視線の先には都市の死があった。 これが厳然たる現実。 これが残酷なる事実。」 It's also surprisingly not as difficult to read as I thought. The prose is pretty flowery, but not that complicated. Apart from some of the technical terms, I haven't had that much difficulties understanding what's going on. The repetition is also pretty helpful for getting used to different Kanji. I'm still pretty early in the game, but I'm having fun reading it. The characters are really intriguing and I love the atmosphere in the underground New York with the purple sky and weird machines. I can't wait to learn more about the setting and I'm really interested in seeing how the story will tie the two protagonists together.
  11. I'm progressing little slowly because I'm only playing at nights. That became a habit when played Corpse Party for first time and now I'm refusing to play them at day time. I just cleared chapter 3 and did the two extra chapters yesterday.
  12. Night - Check. Good Headphones - Check. BloodDrive came in post - Check. Heavenly Host, here I come!
  13. I really like make notes about everything and I can process my thoughts much easier when I wrote them down on paper, so if a game has slightly more challenging puzzles than normal I have notes for it. But there's one game that made making notes really fun; La-Mulana. It's like metroidvania with the focus on puzzles, but also with archaeological elements. The environment of the ruins contains hints and guidance itself, it's very important to pay attention to the surroundings and carefully examine everything. There are hints in the murals on the walls and some puzzle solutions can are tied to ancient legends and poems of the game's own mythology. There are stone tablets scattered around the whole ruins containing information about the history of the ruins and also hints about the puzzles, but often these hints are riddles on their own. Figuring out what puzzle the hint concerns is a puzzle in itself. For La-Mulana, I have a full note book filled with hints and information, deciphers for symbols and runes, my own interpretations for the riddles and hints and so on. It's so satisfying when you finally found an answer to a puzzle by going through your own notes and finally connecting the dots.
  14. I finally got my hands on Dungeon Travelers 2 and it's just what I wanted; solid dungeon crawling and cute girls. Alisia <3 I also love the humor in this game. The bear&penguin comedy duo and Maid-Sensei are so damn entertaining every time, more games should disguise their tutorials in absurd conversations. They just get off on wild tangents all the time, break fourth wall and such. It's great.
  15. I've now done Fal's route on top of Lise's and I'm about halfway through Torta's. (assuming the structure stays about the same) I like Symphonic Rain, but it feels little stale. The characters are sympathetic and the plot is solid, although pretty predictable at times, but the game lacks something. Somehow it doesn't really draw me into the story and the conclusions feel little halfhearted at times, or something. I don't know, I haven't really figured out what it is that bothers me yet. But I guess it says something that my favorite part of Symphonic Rain so far is the minigame and music. I hope the rest of the routes surprise me positively.
  16. Welcome! If you want some good action you should read Kikokugai. And for nakige, Narcissu.
  17. Just finished Lise's route The minigame is super satisfying now that I'm gotten somewhat used to it, I can now play the slower pieces on normal. My brain still melts at the more complicated songs like Fal's, but luckily the easy mode plays most of the song for me, so I can just jam along a little and enjoy the music.
  18. Yeah, the minigame is hard. So hard that I ended up going with Lise, because her song was the only one I could play at least a little. Thankfully the easy mode is super-easy and forgiving, because I kinda like the minigame even though I'm really bad at it. The music feels more important when you actually get to "play" it.
  19. Study x Study - Highschool DxD ED Super☆Affection - Carnival Phantasm OP Maigoinu to Ame no Beat - Tatami Galaxy OP Oto no Naru Hou e - Silver Spoon 2nd Season ED Everlasting Guilty Crown - Guilty Crown OP2 Won(*3*)Chu KissMe! - Sakura Trick OP Melody - Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 ED
  20. I've seen most of the "high profile"/good anime movies, so here's something little different; The Princess and the Pilot.
  21. I'd say we keep them separate. Do the movie cycle normally and then watch the horror anime.
